Will Oregon State be in our Regional?

The bipartisan Bill co-authored by Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell that would provide antitrust protection for college athletic enforcement has a decent chance of passing and being signed into law by the president.

But not without debate and objection, of course.

Among other relief provided by the Bill would be a one-time limit on players transferring for any or no reason, except for being allowed to transfer when a coach moves on.

The Bill would also prevent tampering with a coach, as happened with LSU and Lane Kiffin last season, before the season ends.

The Oregon Ducks learned when they'll be playing four of their games of the 2026 college football season.

"EUGENE, Ore. – The Big Ten Conference and its media partners announced kickoff times and TV designations for multiple 2026 Oregon football games on Wednesday afternoon. 

The Ducks will open the season against Boise State in Autzen Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 12:30 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

Oregon will travel to Oklahoma State on Saturday, Sept. 12, for an 11:00 a.m. CT (9:00 a.m. PT) kickoff on ESPN. 

UO will play its first of two Friday night games against Portland State in Eugene on Sept. 18. That game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will air on Big Ten Network. 

The specific kick time for Oregon's homecoming game against Northwestern on Oct. 31 in Eugene has not been set, but the league announced it would be no later than 5 p.m. on a network still to be decided. 

The Ducks' game at Michigan State that had already been announced for Friday, Nov. 20, will kick off at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on FOX. 

Additionally, it was announced on Wednesday that Oregon and Baylor mutually agreed to cancel its home-and-home series for 2027 and 2028. Oregon is also adding a home game against Coastal Carolina for Sept. 11, 2027. These future changes come after Tuesday's announcement that Oregon and Oregon State will play a four-game series between 2028 and 2032."

The Oregon Civil War will return in 2028

On Tuesday, Oregon announced that the Ducks and Oregon State reached an agreement for the In-State rivalry to return to the gridiron, scheduling 4 games in 2028, 2029, 2031, and 2032.

I went to the ticket office and no one there could help. I've turned the phone off and back on again. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it. I've sworn at it, begged, and blown a raspberry at it. Nothing worked.

Has anyone had the problem, and, if so, solved it, and how?

Another surprise: When I used my favorites to come to the old address...it automatically pulled up the forum and the URL says, discussobd.com thus I think for now we have redirecting going on. That is when you are automatically moved to the new web address without putting in the URL in the upper left.

But when the new owner of FishDuck.com begins to make changes with that domain....I believe the redirecting will end, and you will need to input discussobd.com in the upper left web address area, (URL) and your computer/phone will come to the forum and you will need to SAVE IT.

Autzen Stadium's single-game record fell in 2024 when Ohio State came to town. In the process, the game broke a near 15-year record. Here's a reminder of the top 20 home showings in program-history.

After the recent Big Ten meetings concluded, Tony Petitti doubled down on a 24-team playoff (PO) field.

The Big Ten noted that if college football (CFB) had a 24-team field beginning in 2014, the year the field expanded to four teams and OBD played for a title, 80 programs would have made the PO.

The Athletic (NY Times $ site) broke down how many appearances the 80 programs would have qualified for.

Leading CFB with 12 appearances - Alabama and Ohio State. That's a PO 12 appearances in 12 seasons. (I know. You're shocked, right? 😁)

22 G6 teams would have qualified for at least one PO appearance.

The ACC, B12, and Notre Dame support expanding the field to 24. The SEC is the lone holdout, but SEC commissioner Greg Sankey admits that his conference is a house divided between a 16-team or a 24-team field.

For example, the president of the University of Georgia wants no more than 16 teams. Not surprising, as UGA would have made 10 PO appearances.

Every SEC team would have qualified for a 24-team PO. However, with one appearance, the presidents, athletic directors, and coaches of Arkansas and Vanderbilt have a different perspective than that of Georgia.

A decision on whether to expand the field from 12 to 24, the Big Ten will not agree to a lesser number of teams, has to be made by December 1, 2026.

The B1G 10 teams by PO appearances: 12 - Ohio State / 8 - Michigan, and Oregon / 7 - Penn State, and USC / 6 - Iowa (the same number as Texas, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma State) / 5 - Washington / 4 - Michigan State, Northwestern, and Wisconsin / 3 - Indiana (and Boise State) / 2 - UCLA / 1 - Illinois, and Minnesota.

A B1G Zip, Zero, Nada, Nudge - Rutgers, Maryland, Purdue, and Nebraska 🤪. (With Nebraska, Matt Ruhle is 0-9 vs. the Top 25, 2-25 in his career.)

How long can Sankey, on behalf of ESPN, and not on behalf of many of his member programs, especially the programs most in need of additional PO revenue, hold out?

Sankey also aggressively supports playing a conference champ game that many SEC coaches, including Lane Kiffin, don't want to play.

If the NCAA managed an FBS PO instead of a media company hosting a bowl extravaganza, the field would have been at 24 in 2014.

Oregon Ducks offer QB 'prodigy' Jayden Wade in class of 2028

One of the most important aspects of recruiting in the world of college football is being up on the future stars before others have had a chance to build a relationship with them. That’s exactly what Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks appear to be doing, extending a scholarship offer to Jayden Wade, a quarterback in the class of 2028.

At the moment, Wade is a 14-year-old who plays for IMG Academy. He has been dubbed a QB “prodigy” by analysts and fans who have watched his development over the years. In late December, Wade picked up his first major scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs, but he also holds offers from the Utah Utes, Washington State Cougars, and Arizona Wildcats.

According to his social media, Wade stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds (my goodness, at this age?).  At the moment, the Ducks don't have any other offers in the class of 2028, but they have extended several offers in the class of 2027.

Wyndham is tied for second with Scottie Scheffler at -19, two back of leader Si Woo Kim. Kim and Scottie frequently play practice rounds together. The two are paired in the final group with Wyndham in the penultimate group.

Clark has putted only 25 times in each of his three rounds played so far in the Byron Nelson tournament in Dallas.

Sankey is now the lone holdout on going to a 24-team playoff field. He is carrying the water for his buddies at ESPN, who do not want the playoff broadcast to end and do not want their bowl game inventory diminished.

Tony Petitti and the Big Ten have dropped the idea of automatic qualifiers and offered to go to a 16-team field for two years before the playoff expands to 24 teams.

Tony and the B1G will go no further to appease Sankey. Especially now that the ACC, B12, and Notre Dame are on board with 24.

Will Sankey's reluctance to go to 24 make it past the SEC spring meetings? The SEC ADs and coaches are not uniformly behind Sankey's refusal to expand.

Businessman Petitti played the long game, and it will pay off, just like B1G commissioner Jim Delaney's insane idea to start a network covering only one conference's athletic programs has paid off in a B1G way.

As of 7:15 AM Monday morning--we have two reports to post.

First: D1Baseball ranks Oregon down one spot from No. 13 last week, to No. 14 this week. I don't think it was anything the Ducks did wrong, but simply that another team had a great week and bumped up. UCLA was No. 1, Beavis was No. 7, Nebraska was No. 20 and USC was No. 25 concerning teams we are impacted by.

Second: On3 released their NCAA Baseball Regional Bracket Projection going into conference tournaments, and here are the fun-facts and surprises:

--Oregon is given a No. 15 National Seed, and would host West Virginia, (hot right now) UC Santa Barbara, (yikes-tough) and St. John's. They flat-out stated that Oregon was vulnerable and could lose hosting if we do not do well in the Big-10 tournament this week. I think we need to win two games to lock down the Regional host...

By being No. 15 and not No. 16....we would face the Georgia Tech in the Supers if we win our Regional, instead of playing the Bruins again in Los Angeles. Good.

--UCLA is hosting of course, and so is Nebraska with a No. 12 National Seed.

--USC is traveling to the Oxford Regional as a No. 2 Regional Seed, and it was stated--it was because they lost the series to Oregon. A play or two in one game decides so much...

--Beavis got no respect, and is a rated only as a Regional No. 2 Seed, and they travel to Starkville where Mississippi State is a National No. 14 Seed, and very vulnerable to Oregon State. Beavis has no conference tournament this week, and thus cannot change their fate. (Nobody to sue?)

Again...this all can change after this next week of conference tournaments. But it gives us a better idea of what is on the line. And it is gratifying to see that the highest Our Beloved Ducks have been projected through this long season--is right now. Finish the job this week!

The NIL era has hit a new standard for college football ahead of the 2026 season.

With Lane Kiffin taking over at LSU, many were shocked by the record NIL deal being offered to compete among the best schools in the nation. As it turns out, a few teams are reportedly ahead of the Tigers in the latest NIL valuation numbers.

According to College Front Office, Texas is college football's top spender. One of six teams north of the $40 million mark with only one in the Big 12 inside the top ten. 

1. Texas - $47.9M
2. Miami - $44.0M
3. Ohio State - $43.5M
4. LSU - $42.8M
5. Oregon - $42.8M
6. Notre Dame - $40.4M
7. Texas A&M - $38.9M
8. Alabama - $37.2M
9. Tennessee - $36.7M
10. Texas Tech - $36.3M

Keep in mind, this isn't actual roster spending. However, it's a figure based on what the roster is worth in the current market. This is expected to grow over time with teams over $50 million by 2027.

One of the biggest misconceptions about college football is everyone needs to be playing on the same level. This clearly proves that's unlikely. Some teams aren't capable of cracking the $40 million-plus plateau, which further puts the elites in a league of their own.

I guess that's the connection I feel with all my feathered friends here.

Oh and Georgia is matched with Michigan, and Alabama is paired with Ohio State.

Anyhoo, the conversation moved to the current team, and this photographer expressed some concern about whether Dante Moore can make the next jump in his QB development. After he was done he asked Marcus how he felt about the ability of Moore, and whether he has topped out?

Mariota told him that he felt that "Moore has all the tools, mentally and physically, but only one year is not enough to develop a quarterback. With more experience this next year--you will see that next step slowly take place."

Good! If anyone would know--Marcus would. As we know, Dante has played pretty well in 90% of our games, but in the big ones--the inexperience got in the way. He has been in a ton of big games, and this next year--will be better in them.

The FD photographer also asked...based on the Spring Game....who did Marcus think would end up as the No. 2 quarterback at Oregon this fall?
