This article comes across, I think accurately, as a testament to how good of an OC Moorhead is. Anthony Brown's statistics and the outcomes are pretty impressive. I don't think anyone would argue he is an NFL talent, but Moorhead has schemed and coached him up to be a very serviceable qb. I would also add Anthony Brown has been a warrior for the Oregon Football Program. He has put extreme effort in, while putting his body at risk. A guy with two reconstructed knees running the ball fearlessly should be more than applauded. My recent post about Oregon Fans being a little spoiled I think resonates when you consider the outcome AB and Moorhead have achieved. While we expect and want much more, those two have gotten as much out of each other as possible. Much like Alliotti's detractors back in the day, you have to step back and appreciate what has been done. Anthony Brown, along with Moorhead have persevered in the face of adversity, and produced a pretty good season. We can only hope Moorhead has also been grooming and developing our young qb's just as well. There is a saying many children know, it goes: 'you get what you get and you don't throw a fit.' Many Oregon fans, myself included, would do well to reflect on this.

This is staggering when you consider what this team would be with these players. Just Flowe and Brown at LB would be an amazing upgrade, but these players are fighting on, well done! The definition of resiliency and a focus on problem solving, rather than excuse making, and just quiting. Some programs have just made excuses and quit, not Oregon!

Captaincane, basically it comes down to showing your hand, not just talking about what you have in your hand. Mario is the ultimate talker, you would think he has a royal flush on every hand. As stated at the start of this thread, Mario's hand wasn't a royal flush. He was hiding cards to make it look like he had the nice hand, maybe that is the way it is played in Miami and he will thrive. Miami has promised a stadium, never going to happen. Oregon is building an even better indoor practice facility, you can count on it happening. Mario said he and his family were in love with Eugene, just hot air. He is saying all the right things in Miami, sounds like the same hot air act. Your program has bought into this card trick act. We want nothing to do with card tricks anymore, best of luck.

Interesting that the illness Mario's mother had, which seemed to be serious, and he had to fly back to Miami has never been discussed since. I never liked the look of it, and it is starting to smell bad too.

Interesting contrast to the article on the dawgs attempts to hire from the NFL. When Oregon calls the phone gets answered, and they take the job. Not just talented NFL coaches, but coaches with west coast connections, who can recruit, well done!

UtahDuck, Bottomline never compare an Oregon coach, player or really anything to something at Washington. It just doesn't go well. I have to admit you did make some good points though.

Alabama went from focusing on the RB, Derick Henry, had Kamara transfer, to joining the qb focused club. It is no longer good enough to have a great RB, you need somebody who can throw it. Mario's focus on a running qb isn't a sustainable plan. He looks to still be focused on this plan with the qb he recruited and the way he talks. Mario never moved from the bama of old. We need to see the Ducks go back to recruiting and developing NFL worthy qb's. I look forward to this progression to the mean. The recent mean would be a huge improvement.

I raised the issue because I think it is the only way we can continue to win. It is the way we won before, and it will be the way we win going forward. The reliance on the transfer portal may part of the way to the future, but a sustainable future needs to be the recruitment and development of an elite throwing qb. We should watch for this under Lanning and it will be a guide to how well the program is built and the sustainability of the program. Helfrich was fired and deep dissatisfaction was brewing under Cristobal in large part because of the lack of qb development. I agree with most, we aren't so much spoiled, we just know that is the only way to get to the elite level. One of Lanning's critical jobs is to foster the development of in house qb's. If this happens his job is secure, and our program is restored. Qb development is another extremely important area Lanning will be judged over the coming years. The Bo Nix move is the right move, although only temporary, to ensure this happens, IMHO.

I take offense to the title of your thread. The idea Washington has bottomed out is an opinion which has little basis in fact. Parroting the title to an ill-informed pundit will only encourage the dawg faithful to believe there is no where to go but up. I would add the last time the dawgs won 4 games the next season they didn't win even 1. I know it is the season to bring cheer, but the dawgs only deserve to fear the future.

I like how you didn't really have to write too much to justify how incompetent the tv deal was and continues to be. The crowning moment of Larry's tenure turned out to be a clown hat. Great job of bringing the history of the Rose Bowl into the bright lights. I wish Larry had a clue about the storied history and value of the game when he gave it away. Standing still while everyone else is moving works when others are just chasing their tails, but not when they are leaving you behind. So far George seems to be just looking at the mess without a clue about what to do. Maybe SC and Oregon can pull this conference out of the tailspin it is in after Larry's destruction, but that isn't an actionable plan George should hang his hat on.

It is nice to see loyalty and leadership from the players. I hope it translates to the field. I would love to see this team end on a high note! It would mean a lot to the memory of this years team.

Agree, but we haven't had a Heisman winner, then a NFL Rookie of The Year, virtually back to back. We have had good college qb's who have been drafted. Now we seem to have maybe CFL talent, and what seems to be qb's struggling to get him off the field. Also we have never seen the recruiting talent, star rating, on the bench like these last few years, but they pale in comparison to our 3* days. I will also agree one makes their luck. Maybe our qb's have viewed themselves already lucky by getting recruited by Mario? Something just seems wrong about our qb's and maybe even how we view our recent qb. A qb who leads a team to a 10 win record and he is a pariah. Most programs would love to have a qb lead them to 10 wins. Actually we would have in the past, maybe 20 years ago, I suppose. We expect NFL talent at qb, at least 10 wins, and a good bowl game, the new Ducks. In the past we wanted a scrappy qb, a winning record, and any bowl game, times are changing.

If you look at our qb history we have been blessed. If you look at our recent history we have been amazingly lucky! Before Mario came we went through a Heisman qb, who was a 3* recruit. We then brought in a grad transfer who almost had better stats than Mr. Heisman. We then brought in an after thought 3* recruit Mario road to some great seasons. This guy became the NFL Rookie of the Year. Now under Mario, the recruiting magician, we have had success at recruiting, but less on the field with qb's. AB has been a let down, but has led the team to a 10 win season. This creates the question, are we just qb spoiled? Should we even expect a Vernon Adams type qb to come in and run the program? Is it too much to expect what we have had before Mario, to happen again? Was it just Mario, or were we just lucky before, and our luck has run out?

I'm looking forward to gitten A/C for my house too. I only need it at night, as I like to sleep at about 60 degrees. I like to spend most of the day outside, without wilting. I can't understand how people put up with heat and humidity. I do enjoy a few weeks in Hawaii a year, but the idea of Arizona's stifling heat or the south's heat and humidity have no allure to me. My biggest experience was going to Costa Rica and I couldn't stand the heat and humidity there. The air is hot, the water too hot and the humidity, crazy. To each his own and all in good humor, as we are all different and enjoy different things. I enjoyed skiing this morning, love the snow. Some can't stand the snow. I actually love everything about snow, from shoveling it to driving in it, to skiing through multiple feet of it. Summers a great too, but keep me away from the humidity. I hope you enjoy Mario. He made most everyone here feel pretty good when he arrived. Maybe it was just a cultural thing. His shtick got old, but maybe it won't down in Miami, best of luck. You might want to git more than one A/C unit if you have a double wide. My single wide only needs one!

A very good description. I would add there was nothing explosive about the runs I saw. More like a longterm case of the squirts, fortunately it wasn't terminal. Those kind of things can kill you! I look forward to solid defense and smooth running offense. Sorry about that, I sometimes can handle a set up like that.

The strength of the Oregon coaches, in the past, has been their ability to get, and accept the help the Oregon Football Program, the Athletic Department and Alumni give them. Mario, leveraged Oregon's past like no previous coach. He took the Oregon electric name, and brought in the kids who always dreamed of playing at Oregon, being a Duck. The problem was while he used Oregon's past to his advantage, he simultaneously was destroying the brand. The discontent we saw on the field and the transfer portal was just the start of what many saw, the beginning of the destruction of our once proud brand. I think Lanning's youthful curiosity will allow him to adapt his ability to grow our brand and strengthen it. It is an undeniable fact we make coaches better than they really are. Lanning is a great coach, and will become even better than he would have anywhere else. I look forward to seeing Lanning spin on Oregon football progress. I don't think that spin will get out of control, and it will move forward. That will be the kind of progress I expect, and think we will see. We started to see a dominant D under Leavitt, and that will grow. The destruction of our offense will stop and I am excited to see what Lanning vision is, not just the words we heard before.

I feel for those who live in Florida where the change of the seasons means going from constantly sweating to constantly warm. Seasons is one of the things which fill me up. Winter leads to spring where you know all things come alive, along with spring football practice. Summer means the days are long and fall football is just around the corner. If I lived in the south I would never know what part of the football calendar I was in. I suppose that is why in the south it is always football season? I will take my season's any day, and the beautiful snow I see falling this morning, on a simply elegant white blanket covering the ground!

I would add to the importance of Joey Harrington's career and 2000 season. The Heisman Campaign, although unsuccessful, put Oregon's Football Program on the map. This led to uniforms and even the intermission 'Shout' tradition where Autzen is the greatest place to watch football in all college football. That era was also the start of the Oregon Football Facilities becoming as asset rather than a liability with the building of the Moshofsky Center. The Heisman campaign showed players Oregon was the real deal. You could come to Oregon and have a chance at a Heisman, and win one. The whole Oregon flash began during this period, and extremely important part of Oregon's success. Don't forget the LA billboard, announcing the Oregon invasion! Also the building of the Moshofsky Center started the arms race in facilities, which Oregon has led since and never stopped.

I look at FishDuck like living in a neighborhood with a homeowners association, yes the dreaded HOA. Most don't want to live in a neighborhood which has too many rules, there is too little ability to freely express yourselves, and then...

It might be interesting to follow the Hurricanes as they go through their awakening. The doubt will begin slowly and then, a program such as the Hurricanes, will turn on Mario like no other. Following slick at FSU wasn't really that fun, just a train wreck you could see coming a mile away.

There are programs which make great coaches, and those that occasionally hire a great coach. Even when you look at Petersen's record at dawg town it is much worse than it was at Boise State. He went from a 88% winning percentage to a 68% record when he moved to the mess up north. CP's record at Washington was much worse and his bowl record was almost flipped from 5-2 to 2-4. The dawgs might want to look at the last time we hired a coach without head coaching experience. We make great coaches, over and over. They may not always look that way when they leave, but that is another ongoing story. I am completely comfortable with Lanning's background and potential.

Even worse, to have to dress up like, worship a dog. Grateful I just have a wonderful dog.
