  1. And then there's Mike Leach. Everything stops while the world waits for him to call a play. LOL
  2. MC listed a LOT of responsibilities a QB has to master. I think he was communicating that Brown is ahead of the others as far as being a complete QB without spelling out the exact areas where they all differ. It's always going to be almost impossible to know why certain decisions are made because by answering questions in too much detail a coach might be enlightening the competition, of course. That can make being a spectator frustrating.
  3. Just thinking about why MC would stick with Brown for any other reason than Brown truly is that much better than the rest. Prukop was benched at this time of the season. Herbert did well. He had good size. As much as MC loves physicality, do you think he's concerned Ty isn't physically strong enough, yet? Putting him in as a starter prematurely, then seeing him get injured badly would be tough to live with and could affect his future. Is he an immature thoroughbred that needs more snaps, instead of being THE workhorse?
  4. Very sad. The play didn't seem very physical at first blush. Played too many games for a medical redshirt. Medical Hardship Requirements To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria: The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school. The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury. The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season. The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.
  5. I'm depressed now...
  6. Just had a thought that depending on the illness, it's possible he may be out for the year. I hope not, but I'm anxious to see how well Jim recovers. Hoping for the best.
  7. I decided to compare numbers between the last two Oregon Duck Football transfers Prukop and Brown. Prukop was replaced by Herbert at the end of the 5th game. I'm having issues getting this to format correctly. I attached a screenshot for easier viewing. What strikes you most about the stats in the first 5 games for each transfer? Game Passing Running QBR Prukop 1 271 yds, 21/30, 3 TD, 0 INT 11 carries, 36 yds, 1 TD 45 2 331 yds, 21/31, 3 TD, 0 INT 7 carries, 19 yds 94.7 3 146 yds, 14/23, 0 TD, 0 INT 20 carries, 97 yds 60.9 4 293 yds, 22/33, 2 TD, 1 INT 6 carries, -10 yds 85.2 5 132 yes, 14/22, 0 TD, 1 INT 8 carries, 13 yds 37.5 Brown 1 172 yds, 15/24, 1 TD, 0 INT 16 carries, 56 yds, 1 TD 63.8 2 236 yds, 17/35, 2 TD, 0 INT 10 carries, 65 yds 76.5 3 150 yds, 13/17, 0 TD, 0 INT 4 carries, 1 yds, 1 TD 60.7 4 206 yds, 10/21, 3 TD, 0 INT 12 carries, 41 yds, 69 5 186 yds, 14/26, 0 TD, 1 INT 12 carries, 35 yds, 2 TD 31.9
  8. I want Mario to stay. I don't care if he listens to fans or not, but I'd like him to somehow help us see he is willing to make changes and not be stubborn. Now is the right time to get the young guys valuable playing time. The next one or two years should prove or disprove Mario's master plan. 😀 But the real key is the QB. Always will be.
  9. Seems that the D line doesn't do well the first half, but does better the 2nd half. What I noticed more than once was while linemen are engaged standung up, the runner will run past them. AB had a LOT of time in the pocket several times.
  10. It seems to me that after "slick" Willie Taggart implemented the "Buckle Up" offense, Mario forgot to unbuckle the offense.
  11. One of my favorite players. Chip loved him enough to bring him to the next level. He never went down easily.
  12. Hey Charles. I noticed Thibs ran past the runner when The Cardinal was down near the goal line with about 9:45 left in the 2nd qtr. When I first noticed it, that seemed intentional. But he may have overrun the play by mistake. As you analyze the video, I'm curious if you feel he was protecting himself from possible harm, just missed, or something else. Thanks.
  13. If the CFP was a true playoff where playoff teams were determined by a predetermined criteria (conference champions), instead of votes I would always have hope. Teams that started slow would have a fighting chance after losing all pre-conference games, for example. The Ducks do have a chance, but if Verdell happens to be out for an extended period I think that's a huge problem as I can't see Dye carrying the load.
  14. Another gem of knowledge. A private coach apparently acting like a player's agent.
  15. It feels like OSU also may have thought they could play more of a vanilla game at home against the young Ducks because their D didn't change much after getting burned several times. Their QB also made some awful throws at very key moments. Oregon did amp up as the underdog. It does seem like the Oregon D line seems to wear down O lines by the 2nd half.
  16. Great question! Yes, I believe it impacts games and could affect injuries. It seems like Oregon played someone years ago in grass. Oregon changed their cleats at half-time, the opponent didn't and Oregon played better. Might be a dream. I think it's past time to go all artificial, even in the Rose Bowl. I found this blog after the 2011 Duck vs 🌳 game. https://bearinsider.com/forums/2/topics/44526 Here's another great throwback article on how important uniform and shoe changes inspired players. https://fishduck.com/2011/08/the-1989-independence-bowl-how-oregon-overcame-years-of-suffering-thanks-to-an-old-pair-of-shoes/
  17. ROTFL !! Did you take me out of the "you MIGHT suck pile"? Just kidding... LOL
  18. I went to "kick the dog"....we don't have a dog. (I love dogs btw). I saw one of the posts. It is tempting to generalize. I love the comments on this site. Even when I disagree. It gives me a much broader perspective and SO much insight. Even though I've watched football since about 1967, when I was 5, and played the game, this site has shown me I know about 20 percent or less of ALL facets of the game. Go Ducks!
  19. I'm hearing the announcers voice at the end of a Batman TV episode in my head... "After another disappointing season at UCLA, Chip Kelly might be looking for a new job!!! Did he burn some bridges when he left Eugene with sanctions left in his wake? Would he be able to Win The Day years later with a new Ducks team? Would MC players enter the portal and would we see decommits? Would Helfrich and Scott Frost re-join Kelly for a remake of Batman, Robin, and Alfred? Stay tuned. Same Duck time. Same Duck channel."
  20. IDK. As dissappointed as I am about how they have played this year, I don't think I could bring myself to thank an opponent for a loss. Frankly, Oregon was exposed by Fresno, Stony Brook (didn't even know they existed until they were scheduled), AND Arizona. Shaw and crew simply played their game, so I don't agree that they exposed anything. BUT, if you believe that this game shows there are major issues other than "they play down to lessor opponents", then your sentiment makes sense because after a while (Stanford), there simply aren't reasons to believe this team can play like that and win too many more games. A team with a QB that scores a QBR of 30 and runs the ball 12 times for a 2.9 ypc average isn't going to fair well. In fact, they'll be lucky to lose in OT. Prukop was benched after a few games to make way for Herbert. As many have stated, it's time to start allowing Ty to get some reps under his belt.
  21. I disagree. Helfrich had similar issues when he didn't have a good QB. When Vern Adams was in, he won. When he was out, he lost. Remember Prukop? I also think Andy Avalos was better than Alliotti and DeRuyter. Avalos' D ranks among the best I can remember. Very debatable.
  22. If Oregon doesn't plummet to 15, it's because there is some algorithm that won't allow such fall. Still ❤ the Ducks and I see upside just not where I hoped they would be this year. We lost tons of momentum due to Covid.
  23. I can't remember the last time Saban had to manage the clock. 😉
  24. Thibs misses the next game and I'm concerned Verdell is out for the season.
