Four-Star Recruit Malakai Taufoou Has Fans Buzzing With Oregon Nod

The Oregon Ducks continue to recruit hard on the West Coast for the class of 2027, with defensive back Malakai Taufoou giving a nod to the Ducks.

Safety Recruit Malakai Taufoou Wears The Duck Logo

On Monday, three-star safety Malakai Taufoou ran drills wearing a white shirt with the secondary Oregon Ducks logo featuring The Duck mascot prominently on his chest. Given that the workout happened "fresh off a flight" according to his trainer that day, the shirt Taufoou wore is likely from his visit over the weekend to Eugene, Oregon, to visit coach Dan Lanning and crew.

In his first visit in over a year with the program, the San Mateo, California native got to see spring practice back in session, along with the Oregon facilities, more than a year after his last visit in June of 2025. Taufoou got an official offer from Oregon on January 30 of this year.

Five-Star Recruit Dakota Guerrant Makes Interesting Decision on His Oregon Visit

Five-star wide receiver recruit Dakota Guerrant made an interesting decision on who to bring with him on his visit to the Oregon Ducks.

While other schools like Michigan and Miami are making a push to land the commitment of the talented five-star wide receiver, many recruiting reporters and experts believe the talented prospect will end up with the Oregon Ducks.

Two Blue-Chip Recruits Who Could Commit To Oregon After Quarterback Will Mencl

Two Oregon Ducks recruiting targets who could commit following five-star quarterback recruit Will Mencl's commitment.

In the 2027 recruiting class, the Oregon Ducks have already landed nine commitments ahead of official visits, with one of the players being five-star quarterback Will Mencl.

Mencl is by far one of the better players in the nation, regardless of the position. He is also someone who could attract more talent to the Oregon program due to being one of the best players at arguably the toughest position on the field. He will have the chance to be the captain of this ship, and if that is the case, there could be more prospects jumping aboard.

Oregon Target Anthony Cartwright III Turns Heads With Recruiting Update

A massive Oregon Ducks recruiting target releases huge news in his recruiting timeline.

The visit slate will begin with the Spartans, who are scheduled to get him in on May 29. This is likely to be his lone visit in May when it comes to his schedule, but anything can change at any moment. He will follow that visit up with a trip to Miami on June 5. This is just one week after visiting the Spartans. These two visits will set the tone for his third and final visit, which is slated to be with the Ducks on June 19. This is two weeks after his Miami visit.

Big Ten Program Battles to Earn Official Recruiting Visit

This means one or two things: either Cartwright will take a gap weekend, or he is going to visit someone around the 12th of the month. If he were to take a gap, this could be considered a major advantage for the Ducks, as they would not only be gaining his final visit (recency bias could factor in), but he would also have time in between to let the high of visiting another program wear off. It is likely that teams will push for him to visit on this date, and the one to watch out for is Michigan.

Oregon jumps Texas, seizes lead in high-stakes battle for elite OL recruit
Oregon appears to be the new front runner for elite OL Ismael Camara

One of the top recruits on Oregon's board is elite offensive lineman Ismael Camara out of Gilmer, Texas. The 6-foot-6, 335 pound offensive lineman is among the most sought after recruits in the country, but Oregon and Texas have seemed to be the two schools battling at the top.

Rivals' Recruiting Prediction Machine now favors Oregon to land the mauler on the inside as the Ducks are now given a 74.2% chance to land Camara while Texas is given just a 6.1% chance.

Jordan Seaton's reported NIL payday reveals the cost to beat Dan Lanning

The Oregon Ducks have become an NFL Draft factory which has it's perks, but it also comes with some downsides. This year, Oregon lost two players to the 1st round in Dillon Thieneman and Kenyon Sadiq, but the Ducks also lost two offensive linemen to the draft along with Isaiah World as an undrafted free agent.

Dan Lanning and his staff often go big game hunting in the Transfer Portal, and this offseason they tried to bolster their offensive line. The Ducks and LSU became the two schools locked in a battle over the top offensive tackle in the Transfer Portal Jordan Seaton with Lane Kiffin and Dan Lanning each racking up frequent flyer miles.

LSU reset the market just to hold off Oregon

On Wednesday, CBS Sports' Chris Hummer reported that Jordan Seaton's deal with the LSU Tigers is likely north of the $4 million range. Hummer also believes that LSU paid Jordan Seaton more than any offensive lineman in college football history.

The payday is truly stunning as it's still so new to see players making NFL level salaries at the college level. Jordan Seaton is believed by many to be a top 10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, and when a player of that level hits the open market, they're always going to cash in.

The Ducks have become a force on the recruiting trail with the track record of development, Dan Lanning's pull, and the resources. Oregon won't always win every recruiting battle, but it certainly sends a message when it took $4 million to beat out the Ducks.

3 recruiting targets Dan Lanning can’t afford to lose during official visit season
The 3 recruiting targets Dan Lanning needs to secure this Summer
Dakota Guerrant - Wide Receiver

The Oregon Ducks have made it clear that Dakota Guerrant is one of their most coveted recruits, regardless of position. Luring Guerrant out of Michigan in a battle with the Wolverines won't be easy, but the staff has put themselves in a great position. Pairing Will Mencl, the Nation's top QB recruit, with a star receiver like Guerrant would give the Ducks an exciting duo of the future.

Hayden Stepp - Cornerback

Donte Wright was a top flip candidate for Oregon, but when the 5-star defensive back decided to pick Miami when he flipped from Georgia, it forced the Ducks to pivot. Oregon is one of 4 finalists for elite cornerback recruit Hayden Stepp, who should become a much bigger priority in this class. Stepp is an exciting prospect with a ton of length who could develop into a nice piece for the Ducks.

Ismael Camara - Offensive Line

The Oregon Ducks have started to piece the future offensive line together nicely over the past two weeks, landing center Gus Corsair and offensive tackle Cameron Wagner. The Ducks still have plenty of work to do after only signing 3 offensive linemen last recruiting cycle. The top target remaining for the Ducks is top-40recruit Ismael Camara who's heavily trending toward Oregon, but Dan Lanning and the staff can't let another school swoop in.

Massive recruiting coup could be next for Oregon offensive line

Recruiting experts say Oregon has moved into the lead for the most remarkable prospect in 2027 football recruiting, a 6-6, 330-pound five-star offensive lineman from Lemans, France and Gilmer, Texas.

Steve Wiltfong of Rivals reported this week, "Everyone looks to be chasing Oregon right now." Everyone includes Alabama, Auburn, Texas and Texas A&M. Ismael Camara has played one year of varsity football, and in his first season he amassed 178 pancakes. He squats 755 pounds, and he's raised over $2 million for disadvantaged children.

Suddenly Oregon has a new recruiting rival, willing to play dirty
Cristobal-Lanning confrontation emerging as a battle on many fronts

But the Miami rivalry is real and heated, likely to ramp up in intensity this fall. It rankles that Cristobal was the first to reach the national championship, playing a much more competitive game against Indiana at Hard Rock Stadium in the College Football Playoff final, losing 27-21.

The three teams are on another collision course in 2026. Miami has a new offense rebuilt around Cantwell and former Duke quarterback Darian Mensah, a total of 13 key transfers. Miami, Indiana and the Ducks are all post-spring playoff contenders, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Lanning, Cignetti and Cristobal battle for the national title at playoff time.
