Dan Lanning Shares Emotional Reaction to Tragic Death of Sweet Home Football Player

Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning shared a powerful message after the tragic death of 16-year-old Sweet Home football player Mason Flores, whose loss hit close to home for the Oregon football program.

Some things are bigger than football. A football game that began like any other quickly turned tragic when a 16-year-old football player from Sweet Home, Oregon, suffered a brain injury during a junior varsity game. The teenager died Monday morning, the morning of his 16th birthday.

Just about 35 miles east of Eugene, the Sweet Home community is now mourning the loss of Mason Flores, a young player whose life was cut tragically short. The news also reached the Oregon football program. On Monday evening, Oregon coach Dan Lanning addressed the tragedy.

CBS Sports UCLA-Oregon game preview

They seem to like the Ducks in the game. UCLA’s run game is creative and posses a problem for defenses with the number of athletic OL they use, misdirection, etc. One of the analysts mentioned that he didn’t love Oregon’s linebackers and it will be interesting to watch Oregon’s front 7 against UCLA’s OL.

However, at the end of the day, they didn’t sound like they believed UCLA was quite there yet to go into Autzen and beat a talented Oregon team.
