Adversity Builds Character: SCO Ducks!
I think Lanning has learned not to play with his food when comes to coaching hires and better micromanage the lapses in intensity and focus. Can't let that stuff slide for a second.

Ohio St looking as bad as I've ever seen. Makes me nervous about next week.

WSJ on Chip Kelly and Northwestern
LOL, this aged like spoiled milk. Chip is good, but no Cig. His scheme+former Beaver QB < struggling OBD with twice-fired OC and jekyll & hyde QB.

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
Iโm very thankful Raiola did not turn the ball over today. Much better and a great win. However, Raiolaโs footwork and unwillingness to drive the football will continue to cost the team. The same types of throws that sealed the game to JJ will also hurt us against Ohio State.

Great, tOSU is gonna be extra fired up against us now.

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
I agree. He was able to get comfortable and get into a bit of a rhythm, something Mehringer and the OL would let him do against UCLA or Illinois.

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
Finally had a mature performance from his OC, game plan made sense, they limited the dumb plays, and in general the line played much better, also helps that I don't think NW had a very good game defensively, but the Ducks contributed to that.

What Kind of Season Will the Ducks Have Left If They Beat Ohio St?
It's looking possible now as the Spoiled Children are beating tOSU. They are playing backup QB like us, and if we get the good Raiola next week, who knows?

Dang, I was hoping Riley would get fired amd we would hire him for our OC. Mkay, you gotta admit that's funny!!! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
Yes, I have. OBs in general look much better without the pass rush eating them up. We chipped, kept backs in to pick up LB blitz and did max protect with the RB and TE in, he didn't have dudes in his face. He had time for his WR to run deeper routes and being the dudes they are they won on those deeper routes, and he made the throws. Johnson did well with his game plane and scheme.

Ohio State is severely off tonight playing in the rain and all.

Adversity Builds Character: SCO Ducks!
Tonight we witnessed the Oregon Ducks pull off an impressive come-from-behind victory over 20th-ranked Northwestern at home on Halloween. The Ducks found themselves in a big hole early in the second quarter, but they dug deep, adjusted, and showed real grit to turn the game around and secure the win. What stood out most watching this game was the clear improvement and real-time adjustments on the fieldโsomething that tied directly into the post-game press conference comments from Dan Lanning and the players. A major takeaway came from offensive lineman Fox Crader when asked about unit continuity and week-to-week progression. Crader noted that settling into a solid starting five across the offensive line has allowed the line to better understand each other's strengths and weaknesses. He acknowledged that while there are always plays, he wants back, but he is actively working to correct those mistakes, knowing there is still plenty of room for growth. Similarly, Brandon Finney emphasized Lanningโs focus on doing the simpler things better. Throughout the season, the Ducksโparticularly along the offensive lineโhave blown simple blocking assignments and played sloppy at times. Yet, Lanning hasn't lost the locker room for a second. His core philosophy of daily and weekly improvement, taking medicine from the film room regardless of a win or loss, and holding everyone to a high standard has now evolved into a sharper, micro-level focus on identifying and managing specific team dynamics. That strategic evolution was on full display in the game planning. With Coach Johnson taking over play-calling duties, I anticipated a heavy run game to manage third-and-short situations, stay ahead of the chains, and hide pass protection deficiencies. Instead, Johnson leveraged his deep coaching experience and refused to sacrifice the passing attack. Rather than abandoning the pass, he scheme-protected the offensive line by utilizing running backs to chip and pick up LB blitzers, chipping with Jamari Johnson, and even leaning on max protection schemes. This pass protection assistance bought time for Dylan Raiola to operate with a clean pocket, allowing elite targets like Evan Stewart and Dakorien Moore to get downfield on deeper routes and win matchups. The result was a 336-yard passing performance. Johnson masterfully identified the offense's primary weakness, masked it, and unlocked the team's core strengths: downfield playmakers and a quarterback who looks completely transformed when given time to throw. This season has presented relentless adversity, forcing Lanning into a level of self-evaluation rarely required in his tenure at Oregon. In previous years, talent and continuity meant fewer structural retools mid-season. This year has required him to confront explicit weaknesses head-on, eliminate plays that don't fit the personnel, and lean aggressively into what works to his teams' strengths. This trial by fire will serve Lanning well throughout his coaching career, making him far quicker to diagnose and remedy structural flaws in future seasons. For the returning roster, going through this process and coming out on top on nights like tonight will make them significantly better football players moving forward next year. The Ducks could have laid down tonight when it looked like they were getting ready to get run out of their own stadium, but they embraced that adversity. They showed the character to fight together, trusted the system and each other, focused on the next play, and came roaring back. Lanning should feel proud tonight.

LOL! Lincoln Riley is going to get a big enough win that theyโre going to keep him another year! Yes!!!!!!!

We want SC to win. Ohio State has zero conference losses. They lose tonight and to us we are even in the loss column, SC already has two, one to us.
-

I have the same strange feelings. It's the underdog effect. But honestly, we want Ohio State to win and be complacent against us next week, not pissed off and ready to attack us at home.

As much as I hated USC a few weeks ago, I'm enjoying watching them take it to OSU tonight. The heart wants what it wants...

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
Perhaps the offensive plan and calls finally played to his strengths?
-
Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
Actually, he reminds me a little of Dave Kreig, former Seahawk. Best 'worst' qb in football. ๐๐๐ณ

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
Jekyll and Hyde.

Ever Seen a Quarterback Like Raiola?
How he can be so bad, and so good....is amazing. If he had played half as well before--we would have beaten UCLA and Illinois.

They got stopped at the goal line by a soft Trojan D.

sUc v. BuckNut
tOSU looking pretty underwhelming so far. 9-20 at the half.
