  1. NIL Go is the first lawsuit away from being neutered. Player and Agent attorneys are waiting in the wings to file suit, the first time seven Deloitte accountants determine a deal to be above market value. NIL Go does provide for an appeal, but I think a judge will find delay in payment to be a loss in payment, and that any effort to control the NIL market will be found to be a restraint on trade that violates antitrust law in a given state, or in the federal district where a federal judge makes such a ruling. Then, there are states, like Tennessee, that have passed a law not allowing the enforcement of the House settlement within state borders. Without Congressional relief from litigation, the NCAA will lose, and plaintiffs' attorneys will win in court. Also, the idea that players receiving 'revenue sharing' payments are not employees is doomed. Once again, the NCAA comes with form over substance arguments that will not hold up.

  4. Players' Agents and Attorneys: Contract Language Attempting to Protect the Schools Making the Payments Goes Too Far. ๐Ÿคช Just because they're being paid, doesn't mean they should give up any of their rights, right? ๐Ÿค‘ 'This' will end badly for the schools making the 'revenue sharing' payments. ๐Ÿคฎ 'That's not normal': Florida State's rev-share contracts are raising eyebrows, agents and industry experts say - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Florida State hasn't finalized revenue-sharing contracts for all players yet, and while some top transfers received upfront payments before July 1, others are still waitingโ€”many relying on...
  5. The NCAA, to protect 'amateurism' racked up over half a billion dollars in legal fees. After the House settlement, the NCAA is over $1 billion in the red and, based on a projected balance sheet calculation, the NCAA is functionally insolvent. With the House damages hanging over its head, the NCAA was functionally insolvent before the settlement, and along with the Power 5 conference defendants, could and should have filed for bankruptcy. More legal fees are coming to defend the settlement, starting with Title IX litigation. (To reiterate, the Title IX appeal is not holding up 'revenue-sharing' direct payments to athletes.) How's this for irony? The NCAA president who came up with 'student-athlete', Walter Byers, did not have a college degree. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ“ Oregon Duck News: NCAA's Colossal Blunder, Evans gains draft grade, Top B1G o-lines AUTZENZOO.COM A daily rundown of stories, highlights and links in Oregon sports Why is this man smiling? The House settlement saved his job. A bankruptcy filing would have separated the 1,000-plus NCAA members' wheat from the chaff and could have included relief from litigation.

  7. The 2027 schedule is brutal. Looking ahead, it will likely be in the most difficult top 10. Six home games will not help the cause. A road game at Baylor is piling on to Michigan in Ann Arbor, along with Nebraska and UW on the road, and Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa in Autzen. If Rob is going to cancel, in fairness to Baylor, it needs to happen soon so both schools can book another game. Replacing the game with a cash payment to Portland State for another home game would be fine with me. An OBD win against a B12 team will not move the PO needle, but a loss will not go unnoticed. Oregon does not need P4 Baylor to goose the 2027 schedule.

'Everything Changed' because Greg Sankey Threw a B1G Sucker Punch Why the Big Ten, SEC alliance turned sour -- and what it means for future College Football Playoff format - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The Big Ten and SEC were on the same page this spring, but that all changed in June Greg did not receive Perfect Consciousness before the SEC spring meetings, right? Didn't know the SEC coaches wanted to stay with eight conference games. Didn't know the coaches did not want to play a B1G team every season. Didn't know a pamphlet would be sitting there using the ESecPN FPI to justify staying at eight games. This is a B1G pile of disingenuous, deceitful, male, bovine excrement! ๐Ÿ’ฉ

  13. For this game against a rested Gopher team, Dan and the team cannot come in with a 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right' attitude, or Oregon's playoff hopes could be 'Blowin' In the Wind,' and sinking 'Like a Rolling Stone.' ๐Ÿ˜ฉ A loss would send Ducks' fans home with the 'Subterranean Homesick Blues', and believing that 'It's All Over Now, Baby Duck.' ๐Ÿคฌ I'm sorry, Bob, but I wanted to recognize you and your Alma Mammy. I wonder if Bob ever attended a game without first paying a visit to 'Mister Tambourine Man' ๐Ÿ˜and stuck around 'Maggie's Farm' long enough to score a degree? If he didn't depart Minneapolis with a sheepskin, he joins Bill Gates as a fairly successful college dropout. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ“ Playing the week before at Iowa, where soon-to-be the B1G coach with the most wins, Kirk Ferentz, has gone 107-57, 65%, at home in Kinnick Stadium since 1999, followed by a Friday night kickoff aganst a team coming off a bye, is the 2025 version of 2024's eight consecutive B1G games without a nap. Easier, but still questionable. ๐Ÿง Looking at Minnesota's schedule, the Golden Gophers, if they can get by Cal in Berkeley Week 3, have a chance to enter Autzen 7-2, and fired up to hand OBD a huge upset. Along with Bob Dylan, I'd like to again thank my gifted Editor, who edits like Bob composes songs. Beat the Skis off of the Second Rodent on the Schedule, and 'Don't Look Back, It's All Right!'
  14. $ 7 to $ 10 Million a Year! It Just Means Less!
  15. The best odds on Vegas Insider to go over 10.5 is DraftKings +110. Too skinny for me. The schedule is easier than last season, but with the 105th returning production in CFB, two losses, which would get OBD back to the PO, can certainly happen. And 1 loss only leaves no protection against unfortunate injury, like we've already seen with Evan Stewart. I do, of course, wish Geoff nothing but the best!
  16. The Ole Ball Coach has never gotten over his home state of Tennessee, not offering him a scholarship. Here are two of Spurrier's better shots at UT. "You can't spell Citrus Bowl without a UT." "The reason Peyton Manning is returning to Tennessee, he wants to be the Citrus Bowl MVP for the third season in a row." In the case of Archie, I think Spurrier's caution is justified. Other than Meand23, what has this Manning accomplished? In 2025, the Longhorns returning production, players who started six or more games in 2024, is 103rd out of 136 teams. All of Texas's top receivers, including the TE, are no longer with the program, and Texas returns one OL starter. Texas is -350 to make the PO. 2nd only to Ohio State's (101st returning production) -500. With road games at Ohio State, a revenge-minded Florida, and Georgia, and games against rivals Oklahoma, Arkansas, and A&M, the better bet may be Texas +250 to not make the PO. It was 7th-round draft choice Quinn Ewers, playing behind a veteran O-line and with WRs who went early in the 2025 draft, who led Texas to consecutive PO semifinal games. Let's see if Archie can Man(ning) Up and meet all of the preseason optimistic predictions?

Penn State football: Will Nittany Lions return to CFP in 2025? SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Penn State is gearing up for the 2025 season with what is expected to be James Franklin's best group. 20. Thank you, Steven, Eh? Sorry, I still have Lord Stanley's Cup on (what's left of) my mind. RIVALS 2026 current rankings - 2026 all-teams football recruiting team rankings N.RIVALS.COM 2026 all-teams football recruiting team rankings by Rivals.com Rivals has OBD with 10 'commits' ranked 26th with an average recruit ranking of 3.9. The B1G, with five teams in the top 10 and nine in the top 25, is a good sign. I'll bet dollars to donuts Oregon will finish not just in the top 25, but in the top 10. All of the other ranked B1G teams have at least 15 'commitments.' USC has 30. Only Ohio State, with 17 'commits' and a 4.06 average, has a better B1G average than OBD's 3.9. The only other team with a better average is LSU at 4.02. TOSU has the best average ranking of the top 25 teams. How about Illinois and UCLA in the top 10? Looks like UCLA's Foster is not a Chip off the old Bruins recruiting block. ๐Ÿ˜ To date, SC wins the quantity but not the quality battle. What we don't know are a program's total and average per player, revenue-sharing, and NIL deal expenditures. ๐Ÿค‘ Stay Frosty. Miles to go before 2026 recruiting sleeps.

  22. The SEC's three PO teams went 2-3 in the PO. The three three-loss screwed over SEC teams. Loss to Illinois, loss to Michigan, but Ole Miss managed to defeat Duke with Duke QB sitting the game out on his way to the Beavers (Beavers?) and 1st first-round pick QB Jaxson Dart, suiting up for The Portal King. ๐Ÿค” 'Facts are stubborn things.' 23. The Horns could be looking at 3 Ls? On the road at Ohio State, Florida, hopefully with a healthy QB this time, and Georgia, where the dawgs don't lose. And Oklahoma and A&M will be looking for rivalry game revenge. And the Hogs don't go belly-up when they play the Longhorns. Will Manning with a new receiving corps and one OL guy returning, be an improvement over Ewers, who took Texas to two PO semifinals, where he went down B1G. ๐Ÿ˜
