I don't think it is just confidence, Anthony saw what happened to Tyler when he started throwing interceptions. I am sure he has been told, not to take the risk, and has seen the result of taking risks on the Oregon Football team when you are the qb, the bench. The coaches love AB statistics so far. Make the conservative choice, even if it is the wrong choice, and you get kudos. Make the aggressive choice and the coaches, Cristobal especially, go nuts.

Seems like this is what Oregon use to do, run the same play over and over while taking advantage of the defenses decision on that play. Love the idea of making the play into an RPO or just a pass. Innovation is what lights me up!

Herbert was told not to run, and Brown is being told not to throw the longer ball. Herbert finally began to run when the season was coming to an end, not sure Brown will start to throw as the season progresses. Herbert could and can run, not sure Brown can make the passes he isn't trying. The scary part is no one on the roster is better than a guy who, obviously, can't make the passes most qb's have to make? I hope it is just that Cristobal is waiting until one of the young guys is ready to light it up, and nothing until then.

Most will look at them like the high maintenance date who isn't worth the effort. Much better to get into the stable relationship waiting for most successful coaches.

My statement is he wants the qb's to develop and be ready just like we all do. With his filter, conservative as it is, he sees AB as the qb who is ready to lead the 'prevent offense.' That is the best we can do with what we have available, ready. I do see the Oregon Football Program as a glass which is more than half full. I suppose I am one of the few who still has that much left in his glass. Maybe I need to drink more and get my glass empty, but I don't want to drink it down that far.

I would suggest Mario Cristobal is the most disappointed in the team so far. He just goes about his disappointment differently than most fans. He sees the potential in Flowe, Bennett, Thibs and others and their injuries. Their potential and outcomes are a major disappointment, but he has to move on. Our young qb's are a major disappointment. He knows this team could, would and should be better if these guys were ready, but they aren't. He see what will be and not being able to highlight this yet is a major dissapointment, but he has to move on, support what we have. There are a bountiful number of disappointments with this team. I can only imagine Cristobal sits back every once and a while, and laments what could, should and would have been, but only temporarily. A leader has to do exactly what he is doing, fans don't have to. He has to be a bastion of strength in a sea of disappointment. Our job as fans and pundits is to point out that disappointment, but I would argue it is also to move on and support the many great stories within this amazing team. I know for me that is the only way I can stay an active, healthy Oregon Duck Fan. That is the Oregon way to me, but to each his own, Go Ducks!

This is what concerns when you see our football team act like Ernie Kents basketball teams. Lots of talent, but always needed a great point guard to make it happen. Ernie yelling move, and Mario, not sure what he yells, maybe juice, doesn't help a team score and create opportunities.

Privately funded, of course, and interestingly, will help when air quality is an issue. It is amazing how many times athletes are adversely affected by smoke and can't practice in the fall recently. Nothing a 130,000 sf practice facility can't take care of.

Strategically Chip sees it, we see it, does the Oregon defense see this weaknesses and can they adjust? I would say Oregon's offense is also pretty easy to figure out too. You do have to spy the qb running, but he isn't going to do what puts the fear into most defenses. I doubt any team will give AB what tosu showed him over and over.

I think you are hitting on a very important item. We are equating recruiting wins to wins. Recruiting elite talent is one step and we are winning that game. The other steps are picking the right recruits, the Ngata, not the Canton. Picking a 5* or 4* doesn't mean they are ready day one to rule the world. We saw that with Noah, he was all world, but also made mind numbing mistakes. He is the right recruit, but we need to be patient with their learning curve. The next item is the development. We want Ty now, but he comes from a smaller school, and needs development. Playing a little, then letting him watch will pay dividends later. Between beating tosu at the shoe, and the high recruiting rankings, we are expecting perfection while the process to that end, of this young team, is exactly what we are seeing and should actually expect.

Great point, there are variables we fans don't understand. There are a lot of data points we can interpret in many ways. Many of our highly rated players are very young. Our sophomore DE is headed to the NFL, but our freshman qb is on the bench. I do think it is a data point which is effecting play and should be considered when questioning some of the outcomes.

Great article and the defense is so important this year under Cristobal. The recruiting on the defensive side of the ball is unlike any team we have seen, except for our big guys, but Thibs should help cover up that weakness. The main item I think we need from the defense is to continue to win the turnover battle. At home we win the turnover battle, but on the road we have struggled. UCLA is surging in the turnover statistics, while Oregon is dropping. If these two statistics continue this direction we won't be happy come Saturday afternoon. Oregon will be relying on our defense, but also its ability to create turnovers, which may be the telling statistic.

I didn't see that one when I tried looking it up. I suppose OBD, wouldn't it be Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBDF), isn't quite big enough yet, soon. When I looked up OBDF there were only two, Oregon Business Development Forum, and Ontario Bingo Development Fund, so there is hope for the acronym, but still not a fan of acronyms.

OBD, can you help me out? I found ODB means, Optimum Bed Density (pharmaceutical manufacturing) Opioid Bowel Dysfunction (gastrointestinal side effect) Organization of Black Designers, I suppose self explanatory which leaves me wondering? I guess it is a sign of getting older when acronyms start to try once patience);.

Ok I went back to the last team to beat tosu in the second game of the season in the shoe, it was Oklahoma in 2017. They lost in an upset in their 5th game at home. They then went on to win the rest of their games and lost in the............. I would take that season, but I would want to win my last game, The Bowl Game! As a history major, I love to look at the past, because it is a decent predictor of what is to come. You usually need to triangulate with another data point, but right now the Oklahoma story is leading us right through our season.

I too think it does do over the top, when discussion even begins to elude to him leaving, getting fired. It is also a bit too much when he negatively compared to other coaches, but that is just my reaction. It seems it helps many and isn't against any rules. I try to look at the Ducks as family, one needs to be very careful when criticizing family.

Maybe it is unfortunate we won in Columbus. It would have been much better to have met them on 1/1/21 and beat them then. The season is what it is and we have to move forward, the players are, can we?

It does seem he has taken the roll of bouncer, sideline controller for the Oregon players and coaches. I would imagine this is an assigned role, but don't know for sure.

Sad sidenote to the times, although there are much, much sadder, but this one will be but a blip in the storied past of WSU coaching.

Sometimes you get a Justin Herbert, other times you get a Canton Kaumatule and sometimes you get a Camden Lewis. All we can do is sit back, wait to see what we get, if they develop and guess why.
