If he is right with his enthusiasm about one of the guys he touts we are going to love this class. I tend to lean toward his assessment of the wide receivers, but would love to see the qb, rb prediction he makes. Novosad is Stein's guy so it will be interesting to see how he plays out this season and next. I tend to wonder just how much a freshman can play when the guy in front of him is in the discussion for the Heisman. My enthusiasm isn't as high as this pundit, this season. Dowdell has the attributes discussed, but we will see if that translates to having an impact as a freshman. If he takes over Jordon James touches then we might get to see the future. We also have a RB coach who lets the hot hand go, so who knows. We had a RB by committee and then Bucky came out of top. Dowdell may get his shot, and it will be fun to watch if he too wins out and makes a big impact, would love to see it. At receiver I tend to agree with his assessment. The guys coming in have the potential to be like few we have seen in the past. The whole group is going to be something to keep an eye on, and will undoubtedly have a few transfers after the season. Crazy talent at wideout, and the freshman are the wildcards as to how good they will be at the college level. Love the excitement as we approach fall practices. Is August really fall, excited to see as we start it up.

Agree it will take a committee to fill the roles needed to create havoc. One guy you didn't mention is Jordan Burch, a player who came to Oregon to renew his reputation. Much like Nix did coming to Oregon, Burch has a chance to become the player many thought he was going to become. I look for Burch to be an integral seasoned player for the defense, and the development of players like Mateyo. Thibs had a hard time staying healthy, missed the tosu game, and if Jacobs stays healthy he may be another player who lifts our defense, and helps build the future defense with his leadership. The future looks bright with the new guys coming in, but we need some new seasoned blood to help get us there.

What I want to see is wide spread panic, not just havoc. I would say in the good old days that is what Oregon caused. We didn't just cause havoc, we caused wide spread panic, a pretty good band too.

Some wonder why we didn't have much havoc with our defense, we didn't have havoc makers. Coach Lanning is making sure that isn't a long-term problem. Lanning wants havoc, and will get it. Agree he is bringing in the talent and will see who has the talent, and the will power to win the job. I just hope he brought somebody in this season who can make a difference. I want to see Penix and Williams on their backs in the first quarter of our games. That will be game changers. Seeing a qb watch the lineman as much as his receivers, changes everything.

Just like in life, the future is already happening, just not where you happen to be. The future is already moving forward, just without the Pac-10. Fortunately for Oregon, the longterm future will include our athletic department. At the same time no one knows what the future will truly hold. It may look more like the way Euro soccer runs. There is a first division and if you don't play well you drop the the second division. In that case, the dawgs and even sc may find themselves where they never thought they would be, and the dawgs are working on that direction as we speak.

Texas Tech has to replace the talent and leadership of one of the best defenders in college football, Tyree Wilson. Oregon has to continue to build its' defense. Will TT replace, and will Oregon build, that is the question I have for this game.

Depth, mentoring and high competition is the difference maker between the elite, and those who just aspire to be great. Oregon has had some good mentoring, competition, and innovation, but the lack of depth has always been our Achilles heal. Lanning seems to be building up the depth, elite depth. Interesting times, indeed.

A study of John Elway informs you the qb is important, but the team also completes the qb. Without an elite supporting cast you don't get to a bowl game, Elway never did, nor do you win the Super Bowl, until the support is there. With this in mind Nix is the logical choice, although I like him being underrated. Just another pundit, talking to himself and those who will listen.

Just a kid going to more academically rigorous school. Time to step up the academics dawgs. Darn, I thought the dawgs were a great academic school, with a good football program?

Pretty sure up north they call them privy's, much more stately name. I also think it is an attempt to tattoo the backsides of the recruits with their patented indelible purple sanitation water. What you don't see is scholarship players waiting for the recruits to go so they can drop a rock in the vent pipe and tattoo the backside of the recruits purple. This is what they call fun up north. The problem is this is what a privy looks like on the inside, up in dawg country.

Simeon had a lot left, and he should be an interesting one to watch help bring back Oregon's distance running. Interesting to hear the pundit mention Prefontaine as a comparison. Prefontaine didn't come from the back, he led all the way and punished people. Nobody is like Pre, and maybe someday we will see another. We can hope Simeon will learn from some of his quotes, the way he trained, raced. Be somebody Simeon!

Sloth, or, we can only hope, the tortoise who wins in the end. Stay tuned, or not, as this tortoise race isn't too fun to watch. I suppose just a little better than the dawgs spring game.

Or is George the tortoise, while the other conferences, or those who moved too quickly the hares? It is going to take some shrewd moves and luck to make that scenario play out.

Great stuff, once again, just seems like George is more like a sloth in the middle of a road, than a savvy negotiator right now.

Having faith can give way to respecting others faith. Also having faith allows for that faith to grow into other areas. My bet is Lanning is as respectful as he is faithful. That is a combo which can empower all those who become part of his team. One aspect of a successful team is everyone respects and supports one another. I would say that is the faith to which Lanning communicates to recruits. I would say Lanning respects, and believes. That believe in the student athletes extends beyond the field to them as a person.

Hopefully you feel the work you put in is appreciated. Each article you produce enlightens, and excites the Duck faithful. They also aren't just opinion pieces, the work you put in is evident. The two things I want to see are speed, and the use of speed within the program once again. You highlight how we are going to be the most exciting program in college football again.
