  1. Jon, as nice as the money would have been, might it have kept the O-ball-n-chain coach around for another year?
  2. Chargers are avoiding field goals like Helfrich avoided extra points against Nebraska. Now zero for three on fourth downs in field goal range. Nine points left on the field may haunt them.
  3. Chargers are working hard to keep the Chiefs in the game.
  4. We’re talking about Saturday’s basketball game at home vs Baylor. We can’t blame that one on Brown, right?
  5. I suspect there will be plenty of quarterback changes, both in game planning and personnel, but not discussed ahead of the game.
  6. Negotiations aren’t often easy to explain when they fall apart. I suspect a lot of “what would it take?” type conversation took place, and the numbers were close enough to counter a few times. It’s entirely possible that negotiations also happened with the Cal AD, and Wilcox was happier with that outcome.
  7. My fear is that Baylor will score over 60 and the Ducks will score under 50. I wouldn’t bet the over on 160 total.
  8. Duck defense will struggle to hold Baylor under 60, while the offense will struggle to score 50. Not a good situation.
  9. Was Mullens conducting interviews at Oregon as a smoke screen while the PKs (Uncle Phil and former AD Pat Kilkenny) were flying private jets to the real negotiations?
  10. Fixed it for you. While I can support OSU, I can’t support tOSU. Go Utes!
  11. A quarterback that can make correct reads more than 25% of the time. Check that, a quarterback that makes correct reads MOST of the time.
  12. Not an easy home schedule, but I expect the winning streak at Autzen to continue because, well, it has to!
  13. Lanning’s early signing class beat the rest of the Pac12. Has to feel good to get that first win.
  14. Mario played the game and won. His family didn’t seem much of a concern when he agreed to the OC position four years ago. The Miami connection became stronger as soon as obscene money was offered. Can’t blame the guy for doing well for himself, and glad for the Ducks to move on to a staff better suited for the Ducks.
  15. I wonder if Lanning wants to keep options open until he has a chance to figure out team needs based on new coaches coming after December. The current roster is stacked and young, and not many recruits will see playing time next Fall.
  16. You may be right David. I will watch how athletes play without the fear of being graded poorly for instinctual effort rather than correct hand placement on a block. I am also looking forward to aggressive game plans and coaching. Haven’t see those from the Duck staff for a few years.
  17. Flips from Texas: Anthony Jones Jones in.
  18. Do they know that Morehead broke free of his shackles?
  19. Agreed. The contract may be a good deal for the school if Lanning works out. Isn’t Cristobal personally on the hook for his breach of contract? If so, can we thank him for paying for our new coach for a couple of years?
  20. Peterson recruiting was based on “talent plus character = Our Kind of Guy.” Players were told they were expected to conform to standards in order to be on the team. Some saw this as an elitist approach that turned off lower income families with talented sons. Cristobal was accused of bad mouthing the OKG approach by telling recruits that Oregon would love them up regardless of the economics of their parents.
  21. Why not go after CFB’s top OC to join top DC now Duck HC Dan Lanning as a two headed monster? Ohio State’s OC has been Kevin Wilson since 2017. He seems to develop young quarterbacks and receivers well.
  22. One report said that more than 3,000 people joined, including Duck WBB coach Kelly Graves. And the discussion lasted over three hours.
  23. Something big happened on Twitter last night. Player’s parents and Lanning’s brother made passionate statements about the Duck football program and the potential coach.
  24. Bellotti would make a great consultant to a new head coach. As the only Oregon HC that retired to become AD, then retired from college football, he is the ultimate Duck football ambassador. Unless Uncle Phil gives up his dream of a championship, the next Duck coaching staff will be a home run swing. Bellotti as a head coach again would only be a bunt.
  25. Looks good, but I haven’t seen it on the shelves at Costco or Fred Meyer in my area In Vancouver WA or Portland OR. I enjoy special beer at restaurants or pubs, or when I get gifts. But I mainly buy Miller for home.
