ACC ADs NOT Happy with Notre Dame: "We're All Getting Used....and We're Sick of It"

I don't know if you can see the full article right here, but there are some juicy quotes and a couple I can share below.

“Notre Dame,” an industry source told On3, “is the guy that walks in the house, opens the fridge, eats all the food, then (screws) the wife, kicks the dog, doesn’t pay the mortgage and walks out without any skin in the game.”

At this week’s ACC spring meetings at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, “pathetic,” “100 percent arrogance” and “crybabies” were just a few of the responses from the league’s athletic directors and coaches that spoke with On3 about Notre Dame.

“There’s a very widespread perception that we’re all getting used,” an ACC athletic director told On3. “And we’re sick of it. If an ACC team did that, it would have been fined. It’s a bad situation creating bad outcomes for organizations that need each other.”

Added another ACC AD: “It seems reasonable to have a consequence if the conference membership agreed to something then an individual institution made a decision counter to that decision.”

“I’m still waiting,” said an ACC coach, glancing down at his watch, “to see how much their fine is going to be.” (For skipping a post-season bowl game)

Notre Dame was not fined.

Brothers and sisters, can I get an Amen? How about a Lilies of the Field Amen?

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!

No.

OMG! LOL! A "Lillies of the Field" reference in 2026! Betcha half (or more) of our beloved Duck fans had to look that one up!

Gosh Darn It....when did I get so frickin "old!"

Oh And YES!!! ND is a "user"! Riding the coattails of the "Rudy" era. (Bet more of you get THAT reference...ha ha ha.)

Go Quacker's!

It's all good to realize the deadbeat brother in-law of the house. But it's really about what you are going to do about it. Nobody else would put up with it, but you've enabled him ACC. You got used in 2020, when you had all the leverage in the world. But you let the deadbeat in and even allowed him into the master bedroom so he could play for a conference title. I bet he didn't even give you any of the revenue from that year's playoff appearance.

It sucks to get used. But everyone was telling you what was happening, but you decided to ignore it. I'm not mad at Notre Dame for taking the free room and board. I'm mad that the ACC has enabled them to continue thinking they are a unicorn.

Who cares if Notre Dame gives Wake Forest a home game. They don't add anything to your potential television deals because they have their own deal.

Stop letting that brother in-law in the house. Otherwise you won't have a P4 house for much longer. Clemson, North Carolina, Miami, FSU, Virginia, and maybe Georgia Tech will soon just move out. Your property value is going to drop to Pac Who levels if that happens.

When the game is played at the ACC home stadium, the TV contract is thru the ACC, not Notre Dame. Notre Dame's contract, with NBC, is for home games only. Notre Dame signed with the ACC in 2013 and the ACC signed their dumb TV deal in 2016. So, the deal was done with Notre Dame in mind for 6 games a season.

Notre Dame is definitely an above average TV ratings team, but I have no idea why all the conferences cater to them.

I guess I'm the Devil's Advocate today. College Football needs teams to hate. Really hate. ND is one of those teams.

People tune in just to root against them. With all the money the sport needs, the Irish are literally like their ancestors from the 1760s and 70s.

Enjoy the show. They bring drama we love to hate.

We have enough villains. Texas, Alabama, Miami, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Florida,Georgia, LSU and now Indiana are well hated for various reasons. Notre Dame is loved by many, hated by most like all those other teams. But they aren't a pillar, without them the game feels a little less meaningful. But you can say that about any of the teams I mentioned, especially the old school powers.

Notre Dame has been largely a big game no show up until Marcus Freeman showed up. If the B1G and SEC made it a mandate for their football team to join a league like all their other sports programs if they wanted entry to the playoff, the unicorn would turn in it's horn and become a pony. Still a villainous pony to many. But they would give in, after all they have their other sports teams in leagues because it's mandated.

About those TV ratings:

And, FWIW, last season's champ game between Miami and Indiana drew millions more eyeballs than the Notre Dame vs. Ohio State champ game.

If a Super Conference comes about, perhaps left behind Notre Dame and Miami can play a barnstorming tour on YouTube?

Are the Irish and Hurricanes brands enough to overcome 'who in Hades wants these narcissists as a partner' behavior?
