But as a fan of a B1G team, the last thing I need to hear when Big Ten teams defeat an SEC team in any sport is: Big Ten! Big Ten, Big Ten!

USC football opened and closed its 2024 season with wins over LSU and Texas A+M. Hats off to the Trojans, the only Big Ten team on the field in both games. The Trojans SEC double dip did nothing to improve Purdue's football program.

I live in Dixie. Except for sports in the SEC, people are civil, gracious, and nice as can be, even to displaced Yankees.

I just posted a comment on Charles's terrific, in-depth take on tonight's game vs. Texas. The Texas coach compliments Oregon, kind of, after noting that Texas plays in a better conference.

He isn't wrong, but why the need to frame everything with 'my conference is better than your conference'?

The 'my conference is better than yours' silliness is all about the mighty $$.

In today's world, if you say something loud enough and often enough, that will convince a lot of folks it must be true.

The SEC is always pitching itself as the best to get more teams selected for the playoffs and more $$ from TV.

Sadly they convince too many too often.

Talk is cheap, unless you control the media.

A much better showing by the SEC with five teams in the Baseball final 8 than with five teams in last season's CFB Playoffs.

SEC programs have won 8 of the last 9, and 7 of the 8 were different programs. (LSU twice)

Oklahoma didn't raise its own bar until becoming an SEC member. Boy, talking about a team getting hot at the end of the season. Sooners were 11th in the SEC in regular season, lost their SEC Tournament opener, and had zero players named to All-SEC teams.

Sure provides Sankey with the narrative for continuation of multiple SEC teams in the baseball playoffs. Just wish they had to prove it a bit more with fewer home regionals and home super regionals. Though, the Sooners won both of theirs on the road.
