  2. CBS Sports just posted this article: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/oregon-college-football-biggest-disappointment/ While I believe calling a team "the biggest disappointment" seems very harsh, I will say that the team has not lived up to "expectations". And therein is the issue: "expectations". The expectation was that even with the departures of Lupoi and Stein, that OBD would hit the ground running without missing a beat. Turns out, replacing good guys is a challenge and the success you may have had last year isn't and automatic translation to the next year. I am guilty of projecting that success. One bad game can be considered an abberation. Two bad games, the UCLA game being historically bad, with little improvement is an indication that there are bigger issues Time will tell if OBD are indeed the "biggest disappointment" of this year.
  3. Maybe. That was an utter disaster. If I was Moore, I would declare and not risk my health in another game. Not for this leadership.
  4. That is a pertinent question, Oregon Ducks. When World was hurt last year and Crader took his place against USC, Crader appeared to be a competent left tackle, that is, a good pass protector but not a road grader in the run game. I assumed he would step in as left tackle this year, but another player was named starter and Crader was put at right tackle. This surprised me, but I was inclined to give Coach Terry the benefit of the doubt based on his track record. I am beginning to wonder whether Coach Terry evaluated his talent accurately. At some point in the second half, I thought they moved Crader to left tackle and inserted Gernorris Wilson at right tackle. I thought the line play improved, but maybe it was just Brock Thomas's appearance. At the guard spots, Iuli is a good pass protector but has never been a road grader. They tried a number of players at left guard, including Tofi at one point. I don't know whether Utu is healthy. We miss Pregnon.
  5. When you call a run on the first 3rd down of the game, with 9 defenders in the box, you know it is going to be a long game. All the games of short passes, and very few called to try and get Raiola on track. WTH?
  6. This game was a lot like the one Jeff Lockie played in. I think it was that bowl game where the Ducks were way up and blew it? (Just going by memory, so I could be wrong)

  8. Good Point! Now I have three weeks to forget about it and enjoy my Halloween. Meanwhile, I am going to try to NOT think about Oregon turning into Clemson.
  9. Still a fan, ALWAYS will be. Just tells me that my expectations need to be adjusted.
  10. Coach Lanning says that the game is won or lost at the line of scrimmage. How in the heck did Oregon end up with this bad of an offensive line?
  11. Doesn't change my fandom but it does change my perception of what our team really is now
  12. No, just adds another frustration to a long line of them. I'll keep coming back until the only thing I see is the inside roof of my coffin.
  13. I am not going to bag on Washington being bad. I don't want to be like a Beaver fan who gets pleasure out of the Ducks losing when his team is sucking the bottom of the gutter.
  14. At least I don’t have to wait until the playoffs to have my hopes destroyed again…
  15. There is one thing our offensive line is good at: They do a really good job of helping our running backs and qb's off the ground after they've been victimized by yet another terribly executed play. Judging only by what my eyes tell me, they appear to be slow, weak, and unmotivated. Not Alique Terry's best resume building year.
  16. Watching the USC-Penn State game. Maybe Oregon’s offense and Riola just aren’t very good and a bad USC defense just made them look better and gave us false hope? They were basically shut down at Oklahoma State (the defense essentially had 2 TDs in that game) and you can’t take anything away from Portland State.
  17. "Does this game change you as a fan?" No... but it does remind me of shades of the 70s & 80s Duck football program.
  18. A word to the wise. You are coming close to 'venting' if not already there. You are right. The players are not kids. They are also not real student athletes. They are highly paid professionals. And most of them performed very well. You are also correct that the team played very far below their talent level. It is hard to accept such good players putting such a poor product on the field. Especially after a bye week. But in perspective, does ANY team ever win with such bad QB play? They were about 2 feet away from over time. I will stake my reputation as a fan when I say this: If Kenny Dillingham was still their OC, they would have easily won this game.
  19. What’s sad for me is how far away we’ve gotten from our run game. Year by year since Chip left, it’s gradually gone down hill. All those highlights we love from 2009-2014? They are great runs from LMJ, Barner, DAT, Mariota, Freeman, etc. We’ve gone from 300 rushing yards per game to lucky if we get 100.

  21. I love the optimism but we must have been watching different games. I saw a QB who couldn’t hit the side of a barn. I saw an offensive line that couldn’t block anyone. I saw wide receivers who couldn’t get separation. I saw no creativity from the offensive coordinator until late in the second half. And, finally, I saw a head coach wait too long to make a switch at QB.
  22. These guys are being paid big bucks, I have seen the NIL list of payments, and we pay thousands to go. These are not kids, they know all about money. These players, these coaches need to get off their collective rear-ends and step up or get rid of them. 5 games played and they stunk it up in three of them.
  23. I know Brock Thomas didn’t quite finish the comeback (he would have if we would just kicked extra points), but seeing a hometown amateur athlete come in to potentially become a hero is why I fell in love with college football. I miss watching amateur student athletes playing with nothing to lose for the love of the game. The ones who know they’ll never go pro and are playing their last football of their lives. The 2026 Ducks will go down as definitive proof that it takes a lot more than one of the most expensive football rosters in the country loaded with 4/5 star talent to field a good football team. Give me Brock Thomas and other players and coaches who are there for the love of the game. It is what it is. Now is where real players play for pride and real coaches coach out of pride. Let’s get to 4-2. P.S. I have no idea if Brock gets some NIL, but I’m sure it’s not much.
  24. There is a college football advanced statistician who said that Mehringer was a terrible hire before the season started. He is one of the worst offensive coordinators in college football. If I’m not mistaken, Rutgers was one of the worst offenses in all of college football under Mehringer and they got better after he left. Coordinators usually don’t get better with time - they show you exactly who they are early in their careers. You either have it or you don’t. (And if you go back to the announcement on this board, I questioned the hire at the time. I always thought it was a bad hire and Oregon could have don’t much better.)
  25. After a bye week, the offense was clearly not ready. But I was super impressed with how the defense is coming along. Since I have not yet retired, I'm not sure I want to watch this on my Sat afternoons. I will probably just watch replays from now on. I could go into a deep hole on this, but I won't. They took way too long to switch QBs. That is all I will say about the details. Their playoff chances are done unless they win out and beat down Ohio St. and start looking like a playoff team. The defense today looked every part a playoff defense except for a couple of blown assignments. I believe this game happened due to the OC hire. So that part is very fixable. They still almost pulled it out. Lanning can hire an offensive "consultant" and try to clean up this mess. I hope he does and does it this week. Even after all the bad play this year with one of college's best rosters, I am still optimistic on the Ducks, but Lanning has to learn and grow as a head coach. So as a fan, how I see this team has changed. They have good players, but their coaching and managing has to become elite or they will keep laying eggs from time to time. The OC hire is starting to look as bad as the the Brady Hoke DC hire. But as long as the team has great players, I am confident they can recover.
  26. I hoped we would not regret that stupid call for a field goal at the time... Simple math.... No worries though, win all the rest and most likely we are in.. Don't think there is any qb controversy brewing anyways lol... I personally think if we d brought in Akili for second half we probably win..
  27. Exactly what I was saying. I was hoping Gambling Dan was a thing of the past after the USC before half field goal. There is no benefit to early game gambles. The possible negatives on the other hand can haunt you the rest of the game.
