  9. When will the first game of strike breakers take place? Seems that elite level NIL contracts and a players union would be at odds with one another. If lesser players (smaller NIL contracts)carry the vote to strike, for whatever reason, then elite players really take it in the shorts financially. It would stink to suddenly lose a large amount of money, for the well being of future players, when a collegiate career is rather limited.

  11. Analyst Makes Bold Claim About Oregon's Talent at Big Ten Media DaysCollege football analyst Jake Butt is very impressed with the roster the Oregon Ducks have put together this season. Former Michigan Wolverines tight end and current college football analyst Jake Butt thinks that Oregon has not only the best roster in the Big Ten, but in all of college football. “I think Oregon arguably has the best roster in all of college football. Definitely the best defensive line unit. They have a ton of young talent. Dante Moore would have been a top-five pick last year,” Butt said on Big Ten Network. “The coordinator turnover is going to be the biggest question mark, especially on the offensive side of the ball.” Oregon Ducks On SIAnalyst Makes Bold Claim About Oregon's Talent at Big Ten...The 2026 Big Ten Football Media Days are officially underway in Chicago, Illinois. 13. Why wouldn't athletes employed by a public university be entitled to participate in the state's retirement program? When Leland Stanford and his wife lost their only child, Leland Stanford Jr., to typhus at age 15, Leland told his wife they would found a university in their son's name, and the children of California would be their children. Leland Stanford Jr. University was formed on farmland south of San Francisco. Leland was an industrialist who inherited wealth from his family and grew the enterprise, and also served as California's governor. He was one of the 19th century's wealthiest men. At his death in 1893, his estate was valued at $50 million, more than $1.5 billion in today's dollars. I do not know Leland's stance on unions. But in the 1890s, most industrialists were not big fans.

  15. I'm just a fan, not one that knows much about the requisite qualities to judging how good a bunch 17-35 year olds will play together. But picking Ohio State and Oregon to finishing tops in the B1G? I could do that. Now point out the individual who picked Indiana to win the B1G, Heisman, and National Title within the first two years under Cignetti.
  16. Come on. Of course it's "FUMBLE ... " Last night I cheerily watched Louisville take Mr. Crystalballs to the cleaners when My-Am-I was ranked #2. Beck threw FOUR int's. Happiness. And oh yeah, FUMBLE!
  17. Why 2024 teams? Using the PO Committee's final ranking, 7 SEC teams and three Big Ten teams would have been in a 16-team field. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/49474525/tony-petitti-reiterates-big-10-desire-24-team-cfp-27
  18. I will forever be grateful to Chip Kelly and what he did/brought to Oregon, including a 46-7 / 87% winning record, and 4 years and 4 BCS games -- including playing and nearly winning the NCG. Yes, he walked into a program that was primed and ready, but he also did some rather revolutionary things to college football, which elevated the talent he had to rather exceptional heights. I couldn't care less what Chip's done, or perhaps more arguably, hasn't done since leaving Oregon. Chip was an insane ride like we had never-ever seen at Oregon. And now, Coach Lanning is delivering insane winning numbers, and so far holds the exact same winning percentage as Chip at 87%. But I think the difference is that Dan is building a program that is sustainable at a crazy-high level, that can compete year in and year out with the big dogs of college football. Finally, Dante was at UCLA for one year in 2023. That was Chip's last year at UCLA as well. I'd like to think that maybe Chip sucking it at UCLA so badly indirectly helped push Dante out of UCLA and up to Eugene ;-) . Regardless, how fortunate are we that the kid chose to come our way!
  19. He did not 'boast' about anything. He simply stated the facts according to the records in 2025: 13 national titles, including two 12-team playoff fields, twice as many playoff wins (11) as any other conference. The B1G is the first conference to win championships in men's and women's CBB and in football in the same year. This is a fact, not an exaggeration. ESPN? I like Dusty Dvorachek, and I appreciate him citing championships as the way to determine the best conference, but only while saying the SEC is 'deeper' than the B1G. Six out of eight Big Ten teams that played nine conference games, 33.33%, did not win five or more games in 2025. Six SEC teams that played eight conference games, 37.80%, did not win five or more games in 2025. Dusty's critique of a 24-team playoff included this gem. "I don't want the 5th best team from the SEC and the Big Ten in the field." Dear Dusty, the 2025 PO field included Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and 3-loss Alabama. Even in Norman, Oklahoma, I believe this equals five. I also like Jon Wilner's writing, but in criticizing the move to 24 teams, he wrote: 'The SEC and Big Ten would always have at least 16 teams in the field'. Using the PO Committee's final ranking on December 7, 2025, the SEC and B1G would have had 13 teams in the field, and the 'other guys' would have had 11 teams in the field. To wit: 7 SEC, 6 Big Ten, 5 B12, 3 ACC, 1 Mountain West, 1 Sun Belt, and Notre Dame. In his comments today, Bret Bielema took a shot at the SEC, noting Illinois's wins over South Carolina in 2025 and Tennessee in 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. "Facts are stubborn things." John Adams

  25. With one of the easiest schedules in CFB, Notre Dame is a lock. Ohio State and Texas will have to overcome two of the toughest schedules in CFB. Even with 3 losses, both will be in PO contention. Their Week 2 game in Austin will echo up to the committee's final ranking on 12/5/2026. OBD has a difficult schedule. But will likely have to go 10-2 to be in the field. It would help to first defeat Boise State and Oklahoma State, of course, and for Boise to be in the field and OK St to win at least eight games. With the easiest schedule in the B1G, I think Penn State has better than a 22% shot at the PO.
