  2. Welcome to the 2026 College Football (CFB) Roller Coaster. One week's euphoria is next week's depression. The 2026 season has been a bipolar experience for Mizzou, Ole Miss, Mississippi, Florida, Ohio State (find a FG kicker!), Penn State, Michigan, Western Michigan😁, Oklahoma State🤬, and OBD fans. Through Week 5, 13 Power 4 teams are undefeated. Some because they're good, some because they're good and the schedule is a joke, and some because of college kicker situations. Ask laid-back Pitt coach Pat 'He's a Dozzy' Narduzzi. A terrific Yahoo Sports article by Dan Wolken on why CFB is experiencing this chaos is linked below. Will the undefeateds continue breaking bread, and if so, will it be Honey Wheat or Sourdough? Odds from DraftKings. Game times Pacific time. FPI - ESPN's Football Power Index - NR = Not Ranked Football gods willing, a look at other Week 6 B1G + Big 12 games coming up. --- Off Week 6 - No. 3 Miami and No. 11 Texas Tech Friday - October 9th - No. 8 BYU -10.5 vs. 3-2 Iowa State - 7:15 PM - ESPN FPI - BYU by 14 - 84% to win The Cougars are 0-0 against the top 25 and struggled to defeat a mediocre TCU 17 to 10 in the Dykes broke, rainy, not Sonny, Dallas on Saturday. One of CFB's best running backs, BYU's LJ Martin, is doubtful for this game. Iowa State running back Aiden Flora was the AP National Player of Week 5, leading the Cyclones to a 45-42 win over West Virginia with 212 yards rushing, 3 TDs, and 2 TDs passing. This could be a Look Out - Look Ahead game for the overrated Cougars and its QB, who has Bearly moved the needle. Next week, No. 3 Notre Dame visits Provo. --- Saturday - October 10th Undefeated vs. Undefeated - No. 7 Indiana -7.5 at NR 5-0 Nebraska - 9 AM Fox FPI - Indiana by 6.9 - 69% to win Matt Ruhle is 2-24 vs. the Top 25; 0-8 at Nebraska Apologies to the computer, but - 7.5 looks like a gift from the football gods and the oddsmakers? With the schedule being roasted, I expect the Fighting Cigs will come out smoking and kick the Cornhuskers in the butts. My gaming friends and I have accepted the gift, waiting to open the package on 10/11. (So take Nebraska -115 on the Moneyline? 🤑) --- No. 2 Georgia +1.5 at No. 7 Alabama - 4:30 ABC FPI - Alabama by 0.9 - 53% to win Because Ohio State can't find the dough to buy an FG kicker without a gag reflex, Texas is No. 1. But this could be the game of the year in the SEC and a preview of the championship game in Atlanta on December 5th. Bama has been Kirby Smart's kryptonite - The Smart One is 2-7 vs. the Crimson Tide, 0-2 in Tuscaloosa. Year to date, Georgia is 2nd in Total Defense; Alabama is 18th Total Offense: Georgia 22nd; Alabama 25th In what amounts to a toss-up game, I like Georgia, behind the better defense and leadership of Senior QB Gunner Stockton, to eke out a victory over Bama and Frosh phenom QB Keelon Russel. Kirby is 1-2 against DeBoer, but the win was in the most recent game, a 2025 SEC champ game beatdown. --- Now, let's look at the B1Ggest Game of the Week. No. 21 UCLA +11.5 at No. 13 Oregon - 12:30 PM CBS FPI - Oregon by 14.6 - 85% to win I went against the computer in UGA vs. Bama - Not in this game. Load the box and make Nico chuck it. --- No. 1 Texas -8.5 vs. NR Oklahoma - Texas State Fairgrounds - Dallas 12:30 PM ABC - FPI - Texas by 14.9 - 85% chance to win But in the Wed Wiver Wilvary, you never know. --- No. 25 Pitt -4.5 vs. 2-2 UNC - 9 AM ESPN FPI - Pitt by 9.1 - 75% to win Pitt's starting QB was injured in the VA Tech game that Pitt should have lost and is out for the season. I like a UNC team that battled for 60 minutes against Notre Dame to win this game. --- No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 12 Utah, and NR Duke will be undefeated heading into Week 7. The Notre Dame schedule has been a joke, and the Massey Ratings ranks the Domers' schedule to-be-played as the 64th 'most difficult' in the nation. https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/college-football-has-never-been-more-chaotic--and-its-fans-are-losing-their-minds-because-of-it-210333664.html Ruin the Bruins and Roast Chesney's Chestnuts!

Plus, hear his thoughts on the match-up against UCLA this weekend at home.Hear from Oregon LB Jerry Mixon as he previews this weekend's contest against the UCLA Bruins.
  4. Hear from Oregon defensive tackle A'Mauri Washington as he discusses the team's upcoming game against No. 21 UCLA and where the Ducks are at coming off a bye week.Hear from Oregon starting wide receiver Evan Stewart as he breaks down the Ducks' preperation for UCLA this weekend, the return to practice by Dante Moore, and his thoughts on the Ducks' offense.
  5. Oregon coach Dan Lanning shared that start quarterback Dante Moore was able to attend the team's Monday practice. Whether he'll play this weekend is another story. https://247sports.com/college/oregon/article/dan-lanning-says-dante-moore-has-returned-to-practice-status-for-ucla-unclear-290927558/
  6. I believe the statement yesterday is that Moore hasn't cleared any return to play protocols yet for returning for a game. I would be shocked if he was back for this week's game.
  7. Lanning's attitude has changed for sure. I think in large part it came from the off season when he got to comfortable. He promoted from within so he knew all his coaches. He had a load of returning starters who knew the scheme. He knew he would have to break in the transfers and the new recruits but with so many other pieces as established that probably didn't feel as pressing. The reality is that he took the foot off the gas and it backfired. The whole program relaxed. Watching the Under Construction series this year about fall camp did have a different vibe to it. It felt... well more relaxed. It seemed to lack some of the edge it had in the previous versions. Even the Boise State Ducks vs Them was pretty boring from a behind the scenes standpoint. What was the theme? "Mission Based Response" Uninspired and completely lacked the fire this team needed from a head coach. Lanning brings the intensity and the motivation for his team. He sets the baseline and makes everyone in the program jump. The beginning of the year was relaxed... dare I say "lazy?" Lanning knows his program has some major problems in it and is working overdrive to try and fix as many of those problems he can. I don't think some of them can be realistically fixed until the off season but 2026 plane took off over a month ago and any repairs need to get done in flight at this point.

  9. While I think Dylan would play lights out against Nebraska, there is a very real possibility his old teammates cheap shot him (remember big play VA against E. Wash ). So I hope Dante is ready to play by then. Dante VS UCLA isn't a concern as that team has almost completely turn over since Dante left.
  10. I'm looking for more improvement from coaches and players against UCLA. I think USC showed what our floor is when we show up, but I think UCLA is going to give us a better idea of our trajectory/ceiling, at least until we play Ohio State. How much are we able to evolve our schemes, correct player execution, will tell us if the problems are terminal or if there is opportunity to continue to grow and improve significantly. If you can't course correct with the bye week, then I don't know what we can improve on significantly later.
  11. Nico's QBR is in the 30s, Dylan's is 90. Nico helps lock up one defender with his running threat making it easier for the RB and blockers. If there is a defining characteristic I see is they finish games super strong. Same was true for JMU against us. But I'm just not super worried here seeing that from a basic talent perspective Cal, SDSU and Rutgers were able to put up a bit of a fight. Maryland is the bottom feeder of the B1G. SDSU only won by 2 scores against Portland State. We've seen what Cal is. If we play our game for 4 quarters we'll be fine, and unfortunately this will make UCLA unranked and I'm not sure they can get that ranking back later. We'll see.
  12. His offense and defense has gone more conservative, by winning with superior talent and letting the other team make mistakes. Because he had been undefeated vs. unranked opponents--I see why he and the players were not ready for the Cowboys. But it is also evident that this team is not playing to their potential yet, and I sense he is in a thoughtful mode and figuring that out. Experience as a head coach counts a ton, and while he is learning on us--his 85% win percentage is pretty darn good for an up-and-coming head coach.
  13. Since Purdue beat Illinois this last weekend, I thought I would pull up the entire game of UCLA vs Purdue and take a look and pass along my thoughts. The big picture? The Bruins were only leading by seven points with ten minutes left in the game, and the Boilermakers simply ran out of gas--especially on defense. (UCLA won 52-38) In the end, Purdue was intercepted at the goal line which would have tied the game. UCLA then went down and got another TD to close out the game...and I am feeling that our game could go that way--only with the Ducks making a defensive stop at the end, and beating the large 11.5 point spread. It is so hard to judge, because the Bruins looked pretty impressive on offense. Purdue put up a ton of points on UCLA because their QB was exceptional that day, and I sense weakness in the UCLA secondary--that we can exploit if we are looking for those receivers downfield this game. The openings will be there, but we need to have confidence in them getting open, and the Oregon QB delivering it as Purdue did. Nico Iamaleava I see why Nico Iamaleava helped Tennessee get into the Playoffs two years ago, as he can be pretty accurate and is not afraid to throw the ball downfield. With their running game, the Play-Action really helps their receivers and TEs get separation. While that helps, I was not overly impressed with the Bruin WRs/TEs, as I would like to think that our DBs can make enough plays to slow their air attack. The running attack is where I am most fascinated with UCLA....what were they doing? How was their blocking unique? Is that running back that good? Is their offense that special? No, as a ton of their plays....are also ours. Inside and Outside Zone with the Counters, but UCLA blocked for these plays extremely well. The real question became...are the Bruins that good at run-blocking, or is the Purdue front seven that weak at run defense? I am going with Purdue being weaker, but frankly--it is hard to tell, and--I don't know if Oregon's defensive line will stand up and play as they are able to. The inside run defense has improved...but is it enough? To me, that is where this game is decided; will our front seven on defense defeat enough of their blocks? I say, "YES," but it may take awhile. UCLA is going to score points, and we need to keep our nose out front to get a lead, and answer to anything the Bruins put on the scoreboard. I am leary because so many disregarded Oregon's offense during Chip's hay-day here, as we did not have 5-Star offensive linemen...but the OL coaching was superb. That could be happening here; UCLA could have extraordinary run-block coaching. But it will have to be proven as the game progresses. Wayne Knight I do believe that their Running Back, Wayne Knight, will give us grief. He is only 5'7" and hard to get to between his low-center of gravity, acceleration and jukes. Tackling him in the open field is going to be a big priority for the Ducks, to get him before he zips off. He epitomizes the Bruins to me as Nico does....they have some highly skilled players, but not enough of them yet. This game is going to be incredibly interesting to watch in real-time, but also to watch in replay because I love to watch good blocking. It is the magic of football to me.... Earn Some Easy Money? I have a Duck-Buddy who is over age 65, and needs someone to give him a ride to the local hospital in Eugene-Springfield, and hang around him until bedtime due to the anesthesia after minor surgery. I would, but I have to work during the day, and since this nice fellow is offering a $250.00 fee to someone....it would help a guy who is alone, and you would earn some easy cash. If you want more information--email me charlesfobd@gmail.com or you can call me at 541-915-4541 for more information. Can you help a Duck-Buddy out?

  15. After seeing a few interviews and witnessing some different coaching decisions, it looks to me that there has been a change in Dan Lanning. He seems calmer and much less high energy in interviews and Gambling Dan seems to have given way to Chess Match Dan. In recent interviews, he has acknowledged his own growth and regret in the gamblers mentality and feels it has cost his teams chances to win. Not only has he called the late mid field 4th down gamble at Oklahoma St a mistake but he has also counted gambles at Washington three years ago as bad decisions as well. I see this as a welcome evolution in his coaching style. Risks will always have to be taken but they need to be factored in a case by case basis and not just the default option. He seems to have learned that. Also his demeanor seems to have shifted from pedal to the metal amped towards calculating strategist. As seen in the recent Us vs Them, he will always be a top tier motivator and high energy guy but it seems that now it is coming with a higher percentage of calculating restraint. I welcome this appearance of maturation. He seems to be heading in the direction of long term successful coaches like the Sabans and the Smarts. His leadership after the hit on Dante was outstanding. Within seconds he was on the field making sure his guys stayed focused and keeping his team from losing control and turning a bad situation into a melee. Contrast that with Riley who claims to have not seen either the hit or his player acting like a clown afterwards. His leadership in the locker room at halftime was outstanding and may well have helped the team course correct the season. Time will tell. I don't know if I'm reading to much into this with such a small sample size but it seems to me that something has changed in him and so far, I like what I'm seeing.

  17. I believe usually it takes anywhere between two to four weeks for concussion protocol. I doubt Donte will be playing this week. Most likely could play in the Nebraska or could go further out. Concussions are hard to predict time element wise for complete healing. It can be different for each person and the severity of the hit. I'm sure he is only out there at this time to stay in shape. What Dante Moore's return to practice means for his status vs. UCLAWhy Dante Moore's practice status means more for the Nebraska game than UCLA The biggest concern throughout the bye week for the Oregon Ducks has been the health of superstar quarterback Dante Moore. The last time everyone saw Moore, he was being loaded into an ambulance to be taken to the hospital after a disgusting hit by USC's Desman Stephens II. The good news was that additional testing showed no further injuries in addition to the concussion, but concussions are serious injuries that a player can't be rushed back from. Entering UCLA week, everyone wondered whether or not the Ducks would get their star quarterback back for this Top 25 clash. The news that Dante Moore returned to practice on Monday only added fuel to the speculation about his status for the game. 18. I think everyone knows who is going to be starting this game. Lanning should honestly even have Akili Smith Jr taking starting snaps as well and list the availability report this week as Dylan Raiola OR Akili Smith Jr OR Dante Moore. Never tip a hand you don't have to.
  19. I will admit, watching Chip dust off the Wing-T and roll Penn State on the ground was pretty awesome, especially if you can keep an opposing D from subbing. That being said, I think he and Lanning are very far apart in team philosophy. Would he work at Oregon again? Maybe, but there are plenty of smart and hungry young offensive minds that would fit this team much better. I was skeptical of Mehringer to start the season. Part of me still is, but he also looks like he is growing into his position. If he continues to grow then so to will my confidence.
  20. Agreed. I saw someone elsewhere bring up that simply mentioning Dante is practicing and just leaving it that floats enough info out to the media that would require UCLA to prepare for the possibility of facing either QB, even if the likelihood is minimal. Solid gamesmanship, if nothing else, by Lanning.

  24. Feister ruled ineligible for rest of season for transfer reasons. Appealing ruling. Oregon Football: LB commit Brayton Feister ruled ineligible by OHSAA
  25. Lanning went to school in Seattle during bye/work week and picked some brains and got some nuggets. Oregon Football: Dan Lanning takes ideas from visit with Seahawks
  26. It’ll be a good test for our run defense as UCLA has a talented RB who ran for over 100 yards against Oregon in last years playoff game at Autzen stadium. UCLA’s defense has also been getting a lot of interceptions so Oregon’s QBs will need to continue to protect the ball and make good decisions, and take calculated gambles. I think it’s going to be a high scoring game, as Oregon’s defense has not shown the ability to shut anyone down (with the exception of PSU).
