Lanning's Mount Rushmore of Ducks
It might be interesting to make a comparison between the names listed so far, and the number of NFL seasons by each Duck who was in the NFL? 8 years for Chad Cota, as an example. Or, 14 years Gary Zimmerman who is in the NFL Hall of Fame. Yes, I understand, post-Duck career is different than contributions while a Duck, but seeing an NFL list might refresh some memories?

Depth Will Be Built from an Unexpected Source....
Speaking of Depth, Cig can't catch a break, right? 😧 A judge in Denver added two stud D-line guys to an already deep group. If Hoo-Hoo Hoover's game improves like every QB who has played for Cig, No. 6 in the Coaches Poll is too low. You can bet Cig is using this ranking as motivation. FALL CAMP UPDATE: WEEK ONE REVIEWThree practices into fall camp, the Ducks look deeper, more connected and further ahead. DREW MEHRINGER: “IT’S A MERITOCRACY. YOU’VE GOT TO GO OUT AND EARN IT”THREE PRACTICES INTO FALL CAMP, OREGON’S NEW OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IS BALANCING CREATIVITY WITH EXECUTION WHILE BUILDING AROUND DANTE MOORE’S LEADERSHIP, AN EXPANDING GROUP OF PLAYMAKERS AND COMPETITION THROUGHOUT THE DEPTH CHART.Drew Mehringer has apparently developed a reputation inside Oregon’s locker room. Dante Moore called him a scientist at media day. Kawika Rogers went further, describing Mehringer as “Albert Einstein for football” because of the coordinator’s ability to look at a defense, diagnose the front and coverage and immediately understand how Oregon should attack it. Mehringer learned about the comparison after Oregon’s third fall-camp practice. “That’s news to me,” he said. He appreciated the compliment, but his explanation of what he actually wants to accomplish revealed something more important about Oregon’s new offensive coordinator than the nickname. “I think it’s cool that the players have respect for what you know,” Mehringer said. “We’re all just trying to do the best we can and put them in the best position possible and continue to educate them on more than just what they do on any given play, but how the game works and what can prepare them to play at the next level and play for as long as they possibly can.” Then came the part that has become a recurring theme through Oregon’s first three practices. “Just got to go out and get a little bit better every day and keep teaching them and keep growing them.” Drew Mehringer: “It’s a meritocracy. YOU CAN’T BE GREAT UNLESS YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE: OREGON’S NEWCOMERS DID NOT COME TO EUGENE TO BE COMFORTABLEKoi Perich, Michael Bennett III and Marcus Dixon arrived through different paths, but each has embraced the same challenge: Learn quickly, accept coaching and find a role within a roster that expects competition to strengthen connection.Koi Perich had spent his entire life in Minnesota. He grew up in a town of fewer than 1,500 people, played football close to home and eventually became one of the most productive defensive backs in the Big Ten. Transferring to Oregon meant leaving the familiar environment that had shaped nearly every part of his life. That was part of the appeal. “I wanted to be uncomfortable,” Perich said. “That’s something I wanted to do in my process. I knew that was a big opportunity that I needed to do.” Perich did not view discomfort as an unfortunate cost of pursuing a larger opportunity. He viewed it as a requirement. “You can’t be great unless you’re uncomfortable,” Perich said. BAILEY ETTRIDGE: CHOOSING NOW OVER NEVERThe 28-year-old transfer spent years in construction, discovered college football late and now hopes his unusual path from Nevada to Eugene leads to professional football.Bailey Ettridge can look across Oregon’s facilities and see the life he might still be living. Construction crews are working on the program’s expanding football complex. The welding and structural work are familiar to Ettridge because he spent years performing similar jobs in Australia. “Some of the stuff out there, that’s exactly what I was doing back in Australia,” Ettridge said. “Not as big as that, but certainly that scope of work.” The view provides a regular reminder of how significantly his life changed. 2026 Football Poll Rankings
A breakdown of the number of games a top 25 team is scheduled to play against other top 25 teams. 1. SMU and Texas Tech - B12 2. BYU, Clemson, Houston, Miami, and Utah - ACC and B12 3. Iowa, Notre Dame, and Penn State - Notre Dame and two B1G, evidencing Iowa and Penn State's luck of the draw and Notre Dame drawing up its own schedule. We will not have to endure a South Bend pity party in 2026. 4. Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Oregon, and Tennessee - Georgia's schedule is far from easy, but the Dawgs get a deserved break after the very difficult schedules in 2024 and 2025. One-third of defending champion Indiana's and Oregon's schedules will feature games against Coaches Poll top-25 teams. Indiana plays 1. Ohio State and 14. USC at home. Away games at No. 16 Michigan and No. 19 Washington. Oregon plays 1. Ohio State and 14 USC on the road. Home games against No. 16 Michigan and 19 Washington. Washington. The same opponents as Indiana but in different locales. 5. Missouri, Mississippi, USC, and Washington - Two B1G and two SEC. Do the Trojans and the Huskies have the roster depth to handle tough schedules? Missouri is ranked only because a team has to be No. 25, so why not an SEC team? Even with Trindad Chambliss at QB, Ole Miss is a borderline PO team. 6. LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M - Two B1G and three SEC. 7. Texas - The 7-game Lone Ranger comes from the Lone Star state. The pressure is on Sark and Golden Archie. Win against Ohio State at home in Week 2; well, you were supposed to win. Lose, and how will this affect the Horns the rest of the season? No. 1 Ohio State and No. 4 Texas will do well to finish with these rankings on December 6th. 19. Penn State and 22. Iowa are legitimate PO dark horses. No. 8 Texas A&M and No. 9 Oklahoma will not, IMO, finish in the top 10. Like all preseason rankings, the Coaches poll is a best guess of how the season will play out, weighted in favor of brand names and the Power 2. The PO committee's final poll will be released on December 6th. Until then, claiming a win over a ranked opponent is speculation. (Are you listening down in Dixie?) Even so, this exercise points out the disparate scheduling for top 25 teams, in and out of conference. Is there any reason to believe that in 2026 the PO Committee will not (except for Alabama) simply count wins and losses with only lip service given to strength of schedule?

Pretty much any Duck coach from Brooks on had coached the 2019 team instead of Mario, they would have won a championship and both Herbert and Dye would be on the Mount.

Thank you. Given practices are basically closed forever, I am hoping to give fans something a little deeper about the team during camp abd later the season. I will still have plenty of premium articles, but I think fans deserve something "free" that gives them insights without violating our trust with the staff and media department.
