Both of these Bluebloods are going to have new coaches next season. LSU won the championship a couple of seasons ago with one of the best teams ever assembled, but have fallen into disarray. When USC hired Pete Carroll nobody expected the run the Trojans went on before Carroll said, "Cut" and hightailed it to Seattle. Since then, USC has been "Living On A Dream". According to Paul Finebaum, ESPN SEC Talking Head, the answer is obvious, "When you have a program when Les Miles and Ed Orgeron can win national championships at your program, anybody can,because I don't think either of them are great football coaches" So, LSU is coach proof? Miles, Orgeron won the 'ship, but Helton never got close. Besides Carroll's USC teams, Oregon, in 2007, and twice under Chip have come the closest. What, or who is it going to take for the Pac-12 to win it all again?

The other grouping here is the good ole, "Glass half full or half empty" In your two groups I don't know if the former group can even confidently see regular trips to the "Granddaddy of Them All" on a regular basis with this version of Cristobal. Since he's been at Oregon, Cristobal has been the most successful Coach in the conference. If I had the ability to switch him out for any of the other 11, I wouldn't. But that doesn't mean that I can't hope that Mario see's that he doesn't have coaching down after 70 games and that changing things up can be a positive move.

The game against UCLA comes in the middle of the season, and it could decide the direction the season takes.

Disappointed is the perfect adjective. I'll never get the image of the Tweet in the Oregon Football Account of the "Gutsy" win against Cal. No way should a Top 10 4-1 team need a "gutsy" effort to pull out a win over 1-4 Cal, at home. To be underwhelmed by this season's team takes nothing away from Mario's earlier seasons, in fact, it's those seasons I'm thinking about. The Ducks should be getting better, and this season isn't. 5-1 is a great record, but all 5-1's aren't the same. The Ducks struggled, really, in every game, except the one at Ohio State. It seems like Cristobal has a plan, but I don't know how he's going about putting it together. "He says he wants his teams to be tough. "I'm thinking he's wanting them to be like his teams at The "U". They aren't.

I don't expect Ty Thompson would come in and play like Williams did against Texas, and then look like like a savvy Vet the next week. But, I honestly just don't see the downfall to the offense if Thompson had started against Cal? AB is what he is, behind him, the Ducks rallied and held on to beat Cal, at home.

Bring On The Hoops. I didn't do a search, but I believe the Ducks are the only teams to be in the Top 15 for Men's and Women's basketball in the conference. This season Altman will be doing what he always does; bring a group of players together and turn them into a powerhouse. Last season Graves had the season after the BEST basketball team in Oregon history . They were new and had a huge target on their backs from the damage, Ionescu, Hebard and Sabally had done. Finishing in 3rd place in the Pac-12 is no small accomplishment, and with the returning players and some highly skilled freshmen and transfers, the rest of the conference will need to get used to being clobbered by Oregon.

Agreed, youth and inexperience are not AB's problems.

This season could be where we saw a "Bad win". Not that beating tOSU was bad, it was glorious. But, it put Oregon in the Top 4, then up to No. 3, and all our expectations went up. But, after that game, the team leveled off, probably to where we all expected it to be, but because of the W in Columbus, it was shocking and disappointing.

Great point, and it seems an element of coaching that Cristobal hasn't developed yet. Mario has a "plan", he's got high quality players. But he hasn't figured out yet how to implement it beyond being Tough. He is resistant to change because he really doesn't have anything in place yet, just an idea.

The Kelly offensive years were beyond fun, but a dominating D can be a blast as well, look no further than Georgia. Last week, Kentucky exploded for 13 points against the No.1 Bulldogs; before that Georgia had allowed 5,5 points a game. Oregon's defense isn't at that level. But KT, Sewell, McKinley, Dorlus, this team has the players on D to make life miserable for Pac-12 teams, and be wildly entertaining doing it. The "Bend But Don't Break" defense was a perfect match for the blur. A suffocating D has to be the counterpart for Cristobal's design.
