Reliving the Glory Days of Oregon Ducks Football
Sitting in the stands watching guys like Reuben Drougns and Mo Morris, at a time when Oregon was just budding... Oregon victory on a barely blocked FG (Autzenvs UCLA?)... The key defender (sorry, the image is sharp, but my memory for names isn't) joyfully running off the field waving his successful fingertip in the air. Oregon vs Cal,on a sunny fall day in the 70's. My bestfriend and I (literally) were sitting alone in the east end zone Running back battle between then Bobby Moore and Isaac Curtis. Curtis busted a 63 yard run for a 1st down. An acquaintance of mine was holding the down marker, but missed the play because he was busy, watching Cal's 2 cheerleaders. (TBH, during warmups, so were the Oregon football players!) He failed to notice the play, despite ref whistles and screaming spectators trying to get his attention. A ref finally ran back and chased him into position. Dude never worked another game. Gawd I'm old.

Will a 24-Team Playoff Field Ruin College Football?
Call me weird, but I feelas if 24 is too much... 16 would give a decent number of qualifying teams, every season. At 24, I believe therewouldbe a fair number of blowouts, most years.

Is Fuskie Hatred Really This Bad?
My employer had mandatory oran̈ge.coveralls provided for many years... I had a strange knack for "accidentally" ripped them in short order. Funny. I'm not normally that careless. My older brother kept inviting my son and I to got to football games in Seattle, to sit on a yacht with his buddy, who happened to be a high ranking fuskie administrator. Just couldn't do it.

USA WINS Hockey Gold Medal Over Canada 2-1 in OT!
My uncle started us viewing and watching hockey (on the rare occasions it showed up on TV), as well as going to an occasional game at Memorial Colliseum, in the early 60's. My earliest memory of the game involved fist fights along the boards, and peeing on the car door locks on George's '55 Pontiac Chieftain 870 to thaw them out after a freezing rain... The car sticks in my mind because when my step dad married my mom, he owned that 2 door coupe, and swapped pink slips with Uncle George for his 4 door Buick Roadmaster, to make it easier to load the 4 kids she brought along. Most Saturday evenings involved deciphering hockey game calls in front of his massive console radio.

Joel Klatt: Buy Stock in Oregon Ducks Head Coach Dan Lanning
So much better than the Brooks Years, where it seemed like many seasons started looking really promising before being derailed a couple games in by one or two injuries, like Bill Musgrave, Brandon Jumper, JJ Birden, and Herman O'Berry. Never having the depth OBD have now.

Continuity? Lanning’s Hiring Success is Put to the Test
Vellum on the heals of Hoke ended badly. IMO, Helf was a good OC and QB coach, but not a good GM. Much of the blame may well have been in a lack of evolving in a changing college football landscape, similar to how some teams got left behind by not embracing the portal.

Raiola's Timeline for Recovery
Every time I see that name my mind auto corrects to GRANOLA... As far as the shades go, get him in touch with Dan Fouts and Joey Harrington for advice.

Continuity? Lanning’s Hiring Success is Put to the Test
Koa Ka'ai became assistant QB coach under Stein in March of 2025, so it isn't an actual change, at this point.

LaGarrett Blount Has a Son?
Class of '28 6'/175 DB from Hamilton, AZ. In a 5 game sophomore season (transfer rules limitation), he had 20 tackles/1 sack/2 picks/4 pass breakups, in addition to 311 yards/3 tds, as as a WR. So far, he has offers from UNLV, UNC, Memphis, and ASU. No idea if the 16 year old is on OBD radar.

It's B1G! For any of You Forum Hosers Who Want to Watch Big Ten Hockey, Eh
My uncle (the tough one who survived the Arizona) introduced my brothers and I to the Portland Buckaroos at Memorial Coliseum, in the early '60s. After that, every time we visited him in Molalla, it was a game night ritual to sit around his massive vintage radio, eating popcorn, and consuming appropriate beverages...Dad, Grandpa, Uncle George, my brother's and myself, plus a couple of cousins who lived in the area. Lucky he had a massive bedroom!

Having To Fly East For Games
Its the cost of doing business for a better overall payout, if you reside on the west coast. Oregon, UW, UCLA, and the Spoiled Chillblains all are financially better off than any other former or "current" PAC teams since the big break up.

Massive Winter Storm: How Bad is it Where YOU Live?
Around 20 years ago, I had to travel to Minneapolis on business, in the immediate aftermath of a huge winter storm. The day I stepped off the plane, there was a wind chill factor of more than 25 below zero. Parking lots in the area had mostly been plowed, but the piles of snow were higher than the car I rented. 3 days into my stay, I had to cross into Wisconsin, along the banks of the upper Mississippi, which was frozen to the point people were racing 4×4 pickups on the ice. I'm happy living in the Willamette Valley!
