  1. The reality is that generation O uniforms are basically a bunch of unique uniform sets that aren't meant to be mixed and matched. Which means they aren't great for what Oregon wants to do with uniforms. New uniforms next year and a new age of Lanning and Oregon football to go with it!
  2. The green outline of the number is just weird. Another case that these uniforms are really not designed to be mixed and matched. The all black the green number outline looks fine. But when paired with the white it just looks like different kits being slammed together.
  3. I dropped the 24/7 one ages ago. I have scoopduck at the moment. I had both briefly and I found scoopduck basically gave better insider information. However, the board can be pretty much the same few toxic people spewing the same lines. I rarely post on scoopduck and usually just lurk on the forum. I post all the time here though because this is way more fun.
  4. Yes and no... bringing in any established defensive mind means that Lanning is open to the continued development of his defense and its evolution. The Mint defense is NOT perfect and has some significant weaknesses in it. No team has the players Georgia had in 2020 and 2021 and teams have learned to exploit the Mint defense. Change isn't admitting defeat because frankly the defense has been pretty good this year but admitting change needs to happen admits that things can get better. I would love new ideas to come into the program and elevate everyone.
  5. Not really... Ka'ai, Samples, and Douglas are the only other three and NONE have play calling experience. The youth trap has hit hard! We can't do an outside temp hire because they won't know the system and more importantly the verbage. It would take them time to come up to speed and Johnson already knows it all and had called plays in the past. I do not expect the offense to suddenly look amazing... But that's where we're trapped.
  6. When it comes to recruiting it's more important to know how they recruit than who they recruited. Resources change who you can recruit. NIL opens the door to recruitment it's effectively bid to recruit. If you can't make a competitive bid you can't recruit the player. Baylor and Maryland (Aranda and Locksly) neither have had Oregon level resources. Also they'll figure out the west coast if they need to because I'm sure Oregon has people on staff who will make the proper introductions. Also Oregon recruits nationally so knowing the west coast is important but not the end all be all that it used to be. The NIL bid will get them in the door. What they do with an open door is far more important. And that goes for any coach the Ducks look at.
  7. I am open to both of these hires in truth. And probably get them at a discount because of their current buyouts. Usually contracts are structured in such a way that even when they take a new job they are still owed some of the money (though less than if they don't take another job). So if that's the case then all the better.
  8. Not that surprising. In truth he probably shouldn't have come back this year.
  9. Absolutely! Which is why the QB coach has to go as well. The thing is that the Oregon offense was not going to be anywhere good enough this year even if Raiola or Moore were playing better. The play calls were problematic as well.
  10. It's possible... A three loss tram made the playoffs once already with Clemson sneaking in as the ACC champ in 2024.
  11. I'd be shocked if Dan were fired. He is recruiting too well and has made the playoff twice in the last two years. And like you said he is addressing the biggest problems of this roster. I think if he makes the right hires and uses the portal effectively (which he usually does) then the Ducks are right back on track.
  12. You're right we are spoiled. And we have high expectations and the last time we were looking at a season this awful (and this one might not turn out as bad in truth) was 2016. 10 years!!! So we can all suck it up and see what the future holds. Granted with the firing of Mehringer I'm actually feeling more optimistic right now than I was a week ago and that was after a win.
  13. I like pro spread at this point. But we need a dynamic offense that is hard for an opponent to key into a few things and slow or shut it down. This is an opportunity to upgrade for Lanning. I don't think the current offense was going to make it to a national championship. It was too simple and easy to shut down. We need a dynamic offense with a top notch play caller who can twist the opponent into knots and dance to the tune they are playing.
  14. And if we do fire Dan who else are we going to hire? He just needs to be honest with himself and truly evaluate his staff.
  15. Here's my quick run down... Offense Must Replace Mehringer - OC (gone) Koa Ka'ai - QBs Jack Smith - TEs A'lique Terry - OL On defense I'm less sure but I think Hampton isn't a must fire but probably bringing someone in to be a co-DC with him would be good. I think CBs coaching has been ok but not great and should be on the table replacement. Edge coaching as been ok this year but I feel we could and should get more from this unit. Elijah Rushing looks like a flop at this point as a former 5 star but is that because he needs to be coached up more and hasn't gotten that? TT and MU are long time vets and are producing but it's the young guys I'm worried more about. So probably put edge coaching on the chopping block as well. Linebackers is tricky ... Because linebackers in Lanning's system have to do a LOT of stuff and are they getting the coaching needed to succeed with all their roles? I'm leaning towards no at this point. Now as a general trend here I am basically targeting most of the youngest coaches on the staff. Most of these names are in their first to third year as position coaches as the general trend is inside grad assistant promotions. The staff needs a gutting and retrofitting for sure. But Samples and Douglas have killed it at runningback and receiver respectively. Both were by the way outside hires. When Lanning has gone outside to hire he has done a fantastic job. Inside promotions are the root of so many of these problems. I still have faith Lanning can get things back on track but the bigger goal is not just righting the ship but upgrading it. But get the right hires and use the portal effectively and it's back on track. Rebuilds aren't what they used to be with the portal. Also a lot of NIL money will open up at the end of the season with these seniors leaving.
  16. Helfrich was in the same place in 2016 and he wasn't given another chance to f right the ship. That was in part due to the recruiting not picking up fast enough with sanctions going away. Lanning is in no danger of being fired but he does have to earn our trust back as fans. But here's the thing... Lanning gets to work on retaining his roster now. Work on scouting for a new OC (and other position coaches even if they haven't been fired yet) and prep for the portal. In this day and age the portal and some good hires can bounce a team back into contention real fast. Lanning has shown he can make good hires but he is going to have to make some big hires here and he can't let his ego get in the way of any potential changes to scheme.
  17. It all works until it hits a critical mass and all falls apart. And this year all that youth and inexperience and ineptitude couldn't be covered up anymore.
  18. Lanning opting to take field goal attempts over going for it on fourth is also very telling that faith in this offense was shot. Fourth and one at goal... And a field goal is not Lanning and not what Lanning would have wanted to do. I applaud him for taking the field goal as that was the right thing to do. The two field goal attempts at 50+ yards was Lanning taking the risk for points rather than the risk for likely nothing. Those were desperation field goal attempts. If the game plan starts to factor in 50+ yard field goals your game plan is fundamentally broken... And it was. Defense broken yesterday and they were on the field for too darn long yet again. Also the offense should have absolutely put up more than 10 points which gives the defense breathing room if they are playing with a lead.
  19. I feel like I needed to get this out sooner than later as with the news breaking that Mehringer is out at Oregon. I had it mostly written but thankfully the children today were being cooperative and letting me wrap this up. The Duck's Loss to Illinois is on MehringerOn Sunday morning Dan Lanning made the announcement that the Ducks were parting ways with Offensive Coordinator Drew Mehringer. At this point it was pretty obvious that Mehringer was not up to the tas
  20. communication behind closed doors will certainly be different than what we hear.
  21. We can't get into any kind of offensive rhythm because the play calling is actively working against it!
  22. Another series... And no even illusion to run the ball. Sorry they had one play that was a flee flicker that failed. I'm so done with this offense..
