To be clear up to 2019 Wilcox took at 5-7 team which was in disarray and went 2017 5-7 2018 7-6 lost a bowl game 2019 8-5 won his bowl game not too shabby when considering who we have hired in the past. The past two years have been interesting for just about any program even Alabama.

What coach have we hired who wasn't mediocre or unproven? Wilcox improved the Cal program until last year after we stole his DC. He can win and imagine what he would do with support, something he has little of at Cal. Also imagine how he would recruit, and the integrity he would have as the Oregon coach, as an Oregon native, Junction City.

Agree with the Wilcox hire, go all in on Oregon! Hiring Chip could never live up to the expectations, never. Chip was like one of those moments you try and recreate, but it was just a moment, can't be recreated. We shouldn't live in the past, move forward!

With an OC with both feet out the door, and a head coach with one foot out the door it is no wonder we saw what we saw on Friday. Same game plan, not even executed well, right? With Bellotti's staff they, pretty much, wanted to be here. With Mario and his staff they have one foot out the door at all times. It is time to get some coaches who want to be in Eugene. I realize PERS was a big draw, but most want to be close to home. Hopefully Mario begins to look at that more than he has in the past, and Mullens does next time. We can't have another embarrassment like we did against Utah. I only hope we learned a lesson with that game. As great as Mario's recruiting has been, his leaving now is much more damaging to the program. It is time for the Oregon football program to do some longterm planning, soul searching after this one, as it seems to be playing out.

It is clear Mario is taking care of himself, either way. I just want Mullens to take care of The Oregon Football Program, now! Mullens should give Mario a deadline, we love Mario, we don't need to beg Mario, that isn't love, that is desperation. Desperation also comes from the lack of a plan, that is Mullens job. Mullens should be rounding third on an actionable plan for when Mario leaves.

I remember when Bellotti did this to leverage his salary. I didn't like it then, don't like it now. I say give him a sign or see ya date. I don't want Oregon to looked at as begging a coach to stay. Make an actionable plan, have a plan and lead. We shouldn't be begging and waiting. I think Mario realizes the precarious position this puts the Oregon Football Program in. I hope Mullens does too, and is working on a plan. The last thing we need is somebody with their fingers crossed, eyes closed and holding their breath waiting for Mario to make up his decision. The outcome of him leaving is too big to do that.

Brilliant, if Mario leaves, the next day you bring in Wilcox Head Coach, Musgrave as OC and it is off to the races. Wilcox had DeRuyter at DC before he came to Oregon. No ill will toward Mario, but I love this idea. If I was Mullens I would be talking to Justin already. We can't be left in the lurch. Give Mario until Monday to make a decision, and then pull the trigger the next day, bam!

Ludwig was our OC, and wasn't a popular one. I doubt he would be brought in as a head coach when he couldn't help us run our offense well enough to keep his job.

I think the bottomline on the total collapse of the Oregon program is the program isn't set up like it was under Bellotti, yet. We don't have the head coach in waiting, we don't have the longterm assistants who are eager to stay in Eugene. This may be partly why Cristobal stays. Does he want to leave the Oregon program in disarray? He has to be extremely proud of what he has built, started to build, the job isn't done, and is fragile. He is a guy who is loyal to the student athletes and a program. How do you face a guy like Noah Sewell and his family, who have given everything for the program and say I want to go home, really. There is also the relationship with one of the largest power brokers in sports, do you just up and leave at this moment. This program is extremely important to PK, does he just leave that relationship because he wants to go home. There is also the idea of coaching Miami, what is that? Coaching the Hurricanes has proven to be extremely difficult. Mario has an ego and maybe he thinks his coaching chops will make it different. There are a lot of coaches out there who have proven leaving a good thing doesn't always pan out, insert slick and any number of examples. If he wants a challenge it is still ahead of him at Oregon. If he just wants to go home, there is nothing stopping him. I tend to think going home has to be the overwhelmingly main item. It just doesn't add up for him leaving or taking the Miami job unless he just wants to go home and cares about little else. This isn't the Mario I think I know. The odds of Oregon rebounding 90%, the odds of Mario succeeding at Miami, 30%. I like our odds, and hopefully Mario thinks about this when considering the Miami job. The last item is a Miami native, legend coming back to Miami to save the program isn't something new. Manny Diaz was a high school legend in Miami, although he went to FSU, who can back to Miami to lead the hurricanes. Does Mario really think he is going to get a longer leash just because he is Mario. Maybe he should meet with Miami native, legend, second generation cuban immigrant Manny Diaz and talk to him about the job. Or maybe he should just look himself in the mirror and do the same.

I think what we have seen is a coordinator can't be submissive, or we will be left with zip, or he will leave for zip, as seen. We need an OC who will stand up to Mario, while doing it in a respectful way. This may have been the reason Leavitt left. He was a strong personality, but wasn't able to get along with Mario. There has to be a happy medium. This is why I don't think Hefrich would work at the OC. Number one he had Mario's job, and that is often a tough dance to make happen. This is even more fire for making sure Mario's will is instilled into the offense. While Helfrich may be a dream OC in a vacuum, being OC at Oregon wouldn't be in a vacuum. He would be faced with his past and Mario's instincts. I don't think he could deal with either. My pick is the legendary Bill Musgrave. This guy has proven he can work for many people, was even hired by Chip Kelly when he was the Eagles coach. Musgrave coach Michale Vick to his peak, brought along Nic Foles, and Derek Carr, and helped highlight Adrian Petersen. The guy has the resume and history to know what works and how to make it work. Wisdom and capability come from experience and talent, which equates into compound knowledge. Musgrave has it all, or we need somebody else who can be as capable while capable of leading under, beside Mario.

Two best teams in college football, end of story.

That is just the way he rolls, always working, recruiting.

Back when he was hired, he said a lot of things, but about the connection to Miami he said. During Cristobal's introductory press conference, I asked him flat out about the potential lure of Miami. He said then that he wanted to be at Oregon long term and finish the job of rebuilding the Ducks into a national power. Will he do as stated, and finish the job? I suppose he could say he built it into a national power, but it could all potentially fall down if he leaves in this situation.

Nephew, not recruited by Oregon. He is a very good football player, and Oregon native.

I think we need a coach in waiting. I tend to think, hope, Mario has a longterm plan. Win it all and then move on to Miami. If so Mario is 51, plenty of time to build it and win. The main thing we need is a great OC and one who can step in when Mario leaves. We don't have this and it would be a mess if Mario left right now. Helfrich isn't a head coach, hasn't done anything to up his game in that department. I think Musgrave is angling to get a head coaching job, CAL isn't the place to build that resume. Oregon, a revolving door from OC to head coach. That has to be a very appealing aspect of the job which is open.

I like the idea of Musgrave probably not Helfrich just because of the ex-coach weirdness. If the legendary Musgrave came back home, I would be ecstatic. The guy has the experience and pride in program few would. I could see him being the next in line too. I tend to think Mario will be gone at some point, we need an Oregon guy ready. I don't know too much about Musgrave other than he has had lots of experience and came back to the college game, get him!

I want pride in program week in week out, win or lose. I still remember having great pride in how the Ducks performed under Brooks, even when we lost. Maybe that is a little creative memory making, but the pride in program isn't there yet. I will also say Sewell missed some tackles late because he knew what needed to be done. He needed to strip the ball more than make a tackle. That guy is one of my favorite all-time. I just hope we get to better appreciate just how special he is next season. I think this is why Frost still has a job. He is losing, but the players have great pride and are building.

There seems to be an abundance of pride on the team. The problem seems to be not enough pride in the program. The one player who epitomizes the pride I am thinking of is DJ Johnson. He did whatever was needed, on offense, defense and did it well. Pride in the program seemed to be his focus. AB seemed to be much the same, but his lack of ability limited his impact. His lack of ability also seemed to create discontent within the wide receiver room, not just the transfer. While there are many aspects on how a receiver impacts a game, catching balls is why they came. A lack of pride, with their lack of use, seemed to be problematic within our offense. I would also say the defense also didn't reach it's potential and often seemed like they were playing for self pride, not team pride. There were games where gang tackling happened and one player fed off the other, but that tapered off as the season waned. With Cristobal he seems to focus on loyalty to a fault. Loyalty is great, but you have to be loyal to the outcome on the field, in the end. I think Cristobal's loyalty to players became almost as much of a problem as his conservative play calling focus. These two items added up to a net negative to a very promising season. Next man up can mean helping when a player is just off for a game. We seem to live by, same man as he craters down. Another difference maker, we should have closed on was Apu Ika. He chose LSU, then Baylor over Oregon. If we had Apu along with Thibs, the dline would have been something to watch. It is time for Oregon to win one of the trench warriors and the defense would be lights out. Thibs might have even played in the final game, while having so much fun.

I think the Freeman hire by Notre Dame was brilliant. He needs to have connections with assistant coaches, but I say we go with a young, brilliant, high energy guy. Matt Erntz fits the bill, and hire a young offensive guru to run the offense. Much like we did when hiring Leavitt when the defense was a wreck. The problem too many don't seem to see the offense as the wreck it is. If we reset that is the way I would see benefiting us the most. Defensive head coach, then turn somebody loose on the offense.

Great point, and I am not too worried about our defense. If we keep DeRuyter, and stay healthy next season we will be a very good defensive team. The problem is the offense is pathetic. I agree with many, Oregon playing offense like this doesn't make me want to go to the bowl game, or really any game. I left with the Stanford game on the line, because I knew what was possible. In the past I would never leave, because the Ducks had the ability to win any game. We now have the ability to lose any game, while winning, the majority of the time, ugly. The defense gave us a shot last night, the offense gave us no chance. When was the last time our offense gave us no chance, with our starting qb on the field? Whether Cristobal leaves or not, we need to revamp our offensive mentality. I am extremely skeptical after last night, and really, the last few years. Oregon hired a very good offensive mind in Moorhead. Having a good OC isn't going to change much, nor is having a very good qb, if history is any guide to the future.

We have to think about next season and continuing to develop Anthony, oh yea, he is gone next season. Why are we continuing to give AB reps? The bigger question is, are none of the highly touted qb's better than AB? They, supposedly have been given more reps in practice than AB to keep him healthy. If none of these guys give us a better chance we are in a world of hurt next season. The OC leaving and the continued use of AB are canaries in the coal mine indicators there is something very wrong with our offense. Charles has been blowing the warning horn about our offense for a while, and it is getting much louder in my opinion after the last few weeks.

Our OC left for Zip? This says it all about our offense. The question is who will take the spot of somebody who left our program for zip. I just hope Moorhead had a heart to heart with Mario about why he left, and the potential to win, how to win at Oregon. I also hope the next OC makes Cristobal promise he can run the offense the way he wants, or he's not coming. This could be the moment we need or a continued slide for our much loved offense.

Pretty amazing times with the amount of coaching movement and the transfer portal option. Oregon could be a completely different team next year, for better or worse. I have faith in the quiet hand of Oregon coaching decisions. If we have to go with another coach the program will be just fine. What is also obvious the coaches will make bank, but success isn't so certain. I also wonder how well we will do without Cristobal in the short term. The boat he is guiding has the anchor out and without an OC the rudder will be gone. There is no one on the offensive side of the ball who will do better than what we saw yesterday. This could be a slick exit redux, hold on.
