How Much Did Oregon Gain/Lose From the Portal?
Hopefully with Gonzo we saw a little of what we will see this year. I also think players saw what Gonzo did by transferring to Oregon and want to replicate this. The only caveat, they need to understand the work it took to make that leap. Charles I echo your enthusiasm with what Lanning has done and raise you one.

Who Do YOU Play at Garbage Time? Austin Novosad or Ty Thompson?
Dennis Dixon went from 14 INT's and 12 TD's in 2006, not great, to 2 INT's and 20 TD's in 2007. I get greatness shows up early, but I have seen many qb's struggle early on, and Ty is still struggling. I wasn't sure I wanted to see Dixon come back in 2007, but what a mistake that would have been. We could all be saying the same thing with Ty, but it is going to take a big step forward, and we need one of them to do it. Next season is wide open and I don't want to see another transfer.

Who Do YOU Play at Garbage Time? Austin Novosad or Ty Thompson?
Another note is I hope the Stein offense doesn't look at this period of the game as garbage time. I think each of these young men need to look at this time as a critical moment to compete, and show they can lead the program if, and when needed. Too often in the past OC's, and head coaches have looked at this time as garbage time, nothing important happens other than burning time. Ty has definitely come across as way too casual. I want to see a qb come in at the end of the game and look like they are competing for the starting job. I want to see both play, and both guys look like they want the job this season and next. They should know it is a competition, and an extremely important time to show what they have got. It could be critical time to how our season comes out. An important and evolving question to be answered, but equally important how the OC and Head coach handle it. Somebody may be leading in practice, but how they play against real competition is all important.

Who Do YOU Play at Garbage Time? Austin Novosad or Ty Thompson?
Herbert came on campus late, and probably should have started the season. I think there is still time for Novosad to develop, but right now Ty seems to be the next up. Come fall we may be having this discussion in earnest, with more information.

Is Bo Nix Worth a 1.5 Million NIL?
I guess I am a little confused here. NIL allows a player to get paid for endorsements, like DJ Uiagalelei did with Dr. Pepper. It doesn't allow anyone to pay someone for how well they play, or their impact on the field, directly. So I suppose the question we are pondering is about what we think he is worth on the field, but doesn't really answer the question about his NIL value. I suppose we leave that question to Division Street? I think this is a fascinating question and, if I was a parent, or student athlete, it puts Oregon heads and shoulders above other universities. What other NIL group has somebody on it who made an athlete a billionaire? It is estimated Michael Jordon has made close to 2 billion from Nike if we are really counting. This braintrust has not only built the greatest football facilities, and one of the best college athletics programs, they are now going to build the greatest NIL initiative college sports has ever seen. Just like in building facilities it isn't just about the money. There are programs who have been spending big dollars on athletes for a long time, with little to show. It think the big story is how Oregon's Division Street is going to build a NIL juggernaut, and it will be legit. It isn't going to be what Miami is doing, or Texas ATM either. It will be based on NIL, and it will rock college athletics. Back to the question, Nix will make as much as legitimately possible through NIL. This will bring in more athletes, and it will lead Oregon to the next level, along with Coach Lanning!

50 Million Dollars Paid All-In to Larry Scott
As far as ROI, Larry would rank well below an above ground pool. We got nothing but a mess, and the conference presidents thought we were getting an Olympic size pool.

Huskies "Whine" Has Gone Sour About Oregon's Recruiting
In this day and age it means answers to; good boy, actually initially just tone and volume, then treats, and finally good boy. Also responds to sit, stay, leave it, and of course, wait for it, roll over! Also, almost forgot, if there is an end zone anywhere close, responds to Lay Down!

ACC and PAC to Make a Super Conference?
I'm glad you guys like this, but if this was a cocktail party, and the discussion turned to anything to do with conference realignment I would be like...... Glad we all have our interests, and I can guarantee you there are things that would do the same, just ask my wife!

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY
Good stuff, but was hoping for some more bad news out of dawg land. I suppose the fact that Akili was 2-0 against the dawgs will have to do. Love it when the dawgs are miserable, I must say.

It's Prime Time in Boulder
Seems like we saw this before, right? Mel Tucker came to MSU and in his second full season took D1 football by a storm, with a lot of transfers. He then signed a massive contract and the next season went 5-7. Prime may catch lightening in a bottle for a season or two, but in the end it won't be a sustainable. He also may have reached his level of incompetence. I love all the excitement, but call me unimpressed until I see a longterm product. I doubt Prime is longterm, nor will any of his playersbe who have success. Much like like Kenneth Walker III did at MSU after winning the Doak Walker Award, he left. My bet any player, and or coach who has success will be gone in no time. I will be surprised if there is too much success, especially sustained success. Of course I have been wrong before, but that doesn't stop me from coming up with these opinions!

Your contributions are missed, but most importantly the fact you aren't well is of great concern to all. You are like family and I am sure we all wish we could do more than send words, and thoughts. We do hope those help you and your loved one recover, and thrive going forward!

Is This Roster the Most Talented Duck Squad on Offense? I Say YES
Agree the talent level is exciting, probably most at receiver. It is crazy the talent level we are amassing there, like never before. The rest of the positions we have had better, but then it is all about the teamwork, culture. Another question, can the coaches develop the talent, and is there on field leadership to bring us to a new level? Talent is just potential, until there is action! Great topic for discussion!

Quaaack! Gary Bryant, Jr. Is a Duck! Great Pick-Up!!
Agree, who is going to be the next Bo, Gonzo type transfer? Hopefully the transfer portal is used less and less, but as effectively with impact players ready to reach their potential. Last years impact transfers were Bo, Gonzo, Bucky, Coda, Riley, Williams, and few more. Who will they be this year? The easy picks are Burch, Jacobs, Tez, and who else?

Quaaack! Colorado TE Exits Portal for the Ducks
Well we missed on recruiting the legacy Luke Musgrave back when Mario was chasing stars, maybe this kid has more talent than his star rating too. One of the transfers who will be on the roster for four years, rated #1100 recruit nationally. Played well on defense so maybe he will be a great blocker too? Interesting side note, he might be a preferred walk-on. Welcome home and make yourself into something great!

College Football Media Rights. ACC Schools, Led by Clemson and FSU, Want a New Media Deal
You bring up the elephant in the room and something, over time will be resolved. There is no way, over the long haul, Missouri and Vanderbilt will be making more than other elite programs playing D1 football. It is like advertisers paying every program on CBS top dollar because NCIS it is the top show. The college football money game is far from over. I will say it looks like George is in over his head right now, pathetic really.

College Football Media Rights. ACC Schools, Led by Clemson and FSU, Want a New Media Deal
Seems like the Pac-?, and even the ACC are like student athletes who are in the portal and can't find a program who has as high of an opinion as they do of their value. Unfortunately Larry put us in the portal years ago, and we can't get out!

How Much NIL Monies Do You Think is Being Spent for the Entire Duck Football Team?
Interesting topic, and how is it being distributed? I imagine the big guys are getting more, but are all the athletes getting to learn about spending money while at college. I know I learned how to survive, financially, in college. Once I graduated and began to make real money I learned how to spend and save. Not coming from lots of money I didn't head off on spring break, have a car, or really much extra spending money. Summers were spent working, and I worked while in college. I think it is good these athletes are getting some money. I wonder if there is much guidance about how to spend, save and just counsel on what to do with money? Also players with money, some more than others sets up another dynamic within a team of players. Some programs like Texas A&M seem to have blown it by giving a bunch of money to potential, freshman, while the rest were expected to carry the team. How much is spent on NIL, is the tip of the iceberg as to how teams and programs are affected. The effect might be easy to see in the parking lot, with some new cars, but lots of money for college students opens a whole new dynamic. I guess the question of NIL money and the new world of college athletics will be something to study over time.
