Not from experience, but I doubt the air is ever comfortable in the trenches.

I wonder where we ranked the weakest, probably wide receiver? Hopefully that is changing, but we haven't recruited too many, nor developed many over the last two decades. I find this fascinating as we have been a strong qb school. Those two positions are polar opposites in our rankings, I would guess. Interesting as the two groups depend on each other.

I have been quietly pounding the table on the D-line for while. I completely agree, and it will be fun to watch what our coaches do with this group, the secret sauce of the havoc to come.

Smart quote to get out there, acknowledge those who can make you look even better than you are, or make your life miserable. It may not be visible, but when an O-line knows the qb is going to call them out when they do a good job, they will give that little extra which matters. I give Ty the early lead in the qb battle, just kidding.

In defense of Mario he could be a good coach with a generational RB who can pound the rock. If he gets a Derrick Henry type running back he could create a team which could cause problems. The problem is there aren't too many RB's like Henry. Without a RB who can run over people Cristobal is stuck with his instincts which is to run over people, without the talent to do it. Maybe if he had a Gronk he could also look like a good coach. The problem there is there aren't too many Gronks either. Basically Miami will be left with some amazing sound bites, a lot of hope, and a continued fantasy about what was. They will be left with, much like Nebraska, their dream coach, and then what when that fails?

I also think it was interesting to hear about the two groups in the Mario hiring process. Diaz was a good coach who left Mario a solid foundation. Mario should be aware he is very similar to the guy they hired and then fired. There is no question Mario is a good man, players love him, but when you make $80 million to leave a program you are fair game to point out faults in your craft. Mario has plenty of faults once the first whistle blows all the way until the final whistle blows. In the end it was an interesting read and I will be curious to watch who is the most vocal this year the mopes or the slurpes?

I agree with much of what you stated, time to move on, and quietly eat some popcorn as we watch how it turns out. I don't agree he restored our culture. He built a solid foundation of talent to which we can restore our culture, but the habits I saw on the field and sideline weren't the traditions I grew up watching Oregon achieve. I look forward to Lanning bringing back the innovative exciting football culture which is in my genes. A gang green type defense, and an explosive unpredictable offense needs to be on the menu again. I also want to see execution and discipline as we move through each game and build to an exciting season ending outcome.

Rather than relying on the elite LB group they went out and built up the D-line, brilliant. D-line sets the tone, and if there is to be havoc we need to have an up front push. When the O-line can't control the D-line the qb is hurried and in a panic. It may not have been the O-line which was so poor at Auburn for Bo, just the dominate D-lines in the south. D-lines, in the south, grow up on a steady diet of qb's and barbecue sauce. I look forward to our D-line wearing out opposing teams.

Interesting take the O-line allowing the coaches to take a chance on a young qb. I think the O-line play is key to the season and how the offense performs overall. Dilly is going to look at what the defense gives us and what the O-line allows us to do. The good news is the O-line should give Dilly plenty of options. This will be a breath of fresh air after a coaching staff looking to get better at a limited number of options which fit into one persons definition of what football was. We all know the definition of football at Oregon wasn't what we were seeing.

The ultimate level of understanding is to teach and be able to answer the what if scenarios. Brilliant coaching, as you can't effectively teach somebody if you don't know where they are at in their understanding of what is being taught. Now that Dilly has seen what each player knows he can teach them at the level they are at, build from that base, have realistic expectations. Too often coaches, teachers try, and teach to where they perceive someones understanding is, but they are off. This leads to frustration, and a lack of performance, very clever coaching.

Agree, if you are siging on to sc at qb you better know how to run. There best guy on the O-line was honorable mention all-pac-? That would be like having Anthony Brown, honorable mention all pac-? back at qb, yikes!

Great writing, but reading it reminded me the greatest offseason coach we have ever had, left for Miami. It is time to win the offseason, and keep the fans happy through a full set of games, win or lose. It is time to move on from a coach who amazingly had no enemies, but created an intense distaste from just about every Duck fan out there. It is time for a coach to give us back the taste we can still smell, feel and see, but those emotional ties were sadly fading, and to do it on gameday!

I mean how is going to afford to tatt up the other arm, and get real diamond studs for his ears if he stays at sc? He probably wants to get some nicer sun glasses to play in too. His posse is probably in his ear giving him some great guidance as well, what can go wrong?

Interestingly nobody wanted to step into the qb battle, crickets on the most improved qb, breakout qb. The RB room is loaded and they spoke up on RB's, but nothing on qb's. Same with WR's plenty of talk on who is going to catch the passes, but nobody wants to talk about throwing the rock. I want to know!

We have so many assistants who would be the most important coach on other teams it isn't even close. I would take our head coach and our assistants over any of these named coaches, end of story! The only guy I would take, if he retired and came on as a consultant, is Kyle Whittingham. He is the best coach in the Pac-?

The interesting one was comparing OSU to Utah. Utah has built a program over many, many years. OSU is building, but it will take quite a few more years for the beavs to reach the Utes level. It seem many programs in the Pac-? are attempting to create what Utah has. There is the Oregon and SC template, recruit elite, and try to win every season, and the rest are trying to imitate what Kyle Whittingham has created, not easy. Recruiting the underdogs and developing a culture and system of winning is a tough one to replicate.

You should have been on the beach and out in the lineup to surf. The amount of butt exposed in these times is asstounding!

In as few words as possible describe what you expect the difference between this year and last. It might be fun to read what is expected. I expect the offense to try and create separation instead of focusing on contact. It seemed like Mario was all about hitting people without understanding what putting people in space did for an offense. I think we will see the polar opposite with Dilly and Lanning.

Tillman came in as a track guy playing DE. The young man ran the hurdles in high school and has speed. Seems like an incredibly shrewd move for a staff which, unlike the previous staff, expects our TE to run a route, not just block, and run with LB's. We need guys who can outrun LB's.

I also think it comes down to showing fans enthusiastically cheering for their Ducks is awesome. Showing a cheerleader man, or women cheering for their Ducks is very appropriate. The cheerleaders also do moves which can put them in compromising positions when caught in static photos. Showing photos which highlight positions which are suppose to be dynamic moves, and inspire shouldn't be shown. That is ok and inspirational at the game, and if there is a particularly amazing move the cheerleaders are doing show the video. I would add these cheerleaders work hard at their craft. Showing videos and pictures shows respect for what they work extremely hard at, when done respectfully. I think we can also find fans in the stands in compromising positions and in outfits of poor taste. Just keep it at photos showing enthusiasm without the compromising positions. This is a fan site, show fans, cheerleaders and supporters exhibiting, revealing their love of the Ducks, and nothing else.

I just got back from Hawaii, pictures of the young lady's on the beach would be inappropriate for most on Fishduck. I think the outfits most young people wear now don't fit into what we are used to. I think it is just a generational thing, and no I don't have any pictures to post!
