I like Noah's position, money! I also like seeing Donte slotted at many positions, one starting and a few as a back-up. There is no reason this guy shouldn't be on the field, all the time! The one concern is our kicker and punter position. Are we going to have an all campus call for tryouts for the back-up positions? We have one punter and one kicker, maybe they can do both, but they aren't listed as back-ups. We need at least a couple walk-ons working on reps. There has to be multiple guys on campus who kicked ok in high school. With no mens soccer team bring them on. There definitely seems to be a senior lean to naming them starters. Nix is the starter as the senior guy of the group. It is nice to see Cam McCormick named as starter, although still listed with an injury. Just a few observations.

Great link, thanks. It is interesting Texas has more 5* and 4*, same number of recruits but ranks below Oregon. I suppose the analysts understands just how much the Texas recruits will underperform? This is the only thing I can come up with. Also if you click on Texas A&M it will give you the total cost of their recruits, ;).

I will add if the previous staff had developed the, or a, back-up, we may not have needed Bo. Because we had nobody with game experience, and play Georgia, in Atlanta game one, the new staff was left with no other good choice. What this staff is doing isn't so much as brilliant, just what an astute coaching staff should do. You have a competition, always a competition, and develop the talent. Without a real competition and development I am astounded Ty and Butters stuck around. I suppose the fact Mario could sell ice to Eskimos is the only logical explanation.

A coach also has to put the talent on the field and put it in space to see it excel. Our previous staff had too much talent sitting on the bench, and then often running between tackles, with a qb who couldn't hit a downfield target. We should all be excited to see high level talent matched up with high level coaching. That is the match we all want to see. We are, once again, hearing what we fans want to hear, explosion plays, players in space, lots of scoring, but now we need to see it happen. Talk is cheap, let's see it happen, once again! It is an interesting stat, but I want to see the scoreboard light up again!

I was actually surprised AB lasted all last season. I am not talking about his play, just that he stayed healthy. Depending on how these guys are used we could need all three to play next season. Who knows we might even see AJ Abbott end up our starter. It may be strategic giving each of these guys reps, but it is also smart to have these guys ready. It has happened before where we go way down the depth chart, and we need depth at the qb position. AJ actually sounds like an interesting prospect, more in the mold of our qb's of old. I agree it may be the new way to keep qb's in the fold, but it also may be just the way we are developing talent, as compared to our previous staff. Anyone have news on how AJ looks? I love a good underdog!

Wow, great observation, Riley and CK, will that be the comparison? That is very insightful, as few coaches really have what it takes to turn a team around. It is like taking over a restaurant location which has failed over and over. It is best to just turn it into a hearing aid center than trying to revive it as a restaurant most of the time. Maybe sc should just take their club soccer team, and start competing at the NCAA level, drop football if this doesn't work? I am sure these guys would love a little more love from the sc alumni.

Fear is what Cristobal seemed to want to instill into other programs, but it never happened. Unless you are New Mexico State, playing the SEC then I doubt fear is too big of a factor. This was especially true because we didn't dominate inferior teams. Now dominance and just giving up then that happens. This didn't really happen under Mario either. I don't think fear has much to do with football, unless you are crossing the middle of our defense trying to catch a pass and one of our LB's is closing on you. I would like to see dominance begin to happen under Lanning and teams just give up. That is the type of havoc I want to see. I also don't think fear played a role against sc, they just didn't care as much. The fans they may have feared going to games, and watching the team never materialize, but I don't see the players getting into a fear thing. Maybe I am off base, but I don't see fear playing too much of a role in most football games.

I know first hand a situation where a dad is contacting a school indirectly about his kid transferring. If your a parent and not helping manage your kids transfer then you aren't doing your job. There is undoubtedly some kids without parents doing their job, but I can guarantee it is going on. I have no idea what the coaches are thinking when they decide on a transfer. I would think there is some skepticism about accepting a transfer when there are freshman who don't have the baggage transfers have. Seems there are some kids who think they are still as or more desirable as a transfer and they are sadly mistaken.

How high can Lowe go! Seems like we have solved our WR problem which plagued Justin, now on to the next Justin, or just top shelf qb to continue our qb tradition. We seem to have weapons, a staff which knows how to develop them, use them, and now the qb, who will it be!

Sounded like the Ducks were working to find a spot where he fit, now Jonah will trying to find a place to fit in. I wish him well in his journey and hope he finds the best place academically, socially and athletically for him to thrive! This seems to be where the portal can provide an opportunity for a player to step into a better fit. I hope he finds that place, and doesn't become just another scholarship athlete without a scholarship. Interesting take on Utah, but Utah last season had a special inspiration which may be hard to replicate. The two players who passed away, plus the underdog qb who took over created a unique mentality within that team. I was actually surprised, and saddened they lost to the nuts in the Rose Bowl. Agree Whit is the dean of college coaches in the Pac-12 and deserves respect. Also agree about the trojans, and I'll believe the hype when they put together a solid season from start to finish. They may be a shell of themselves by the end of the season with the lack of depth they have. Any injuries may seriously damage the ability of that team. Injuries and a culture which may turn out to be more delicate than tenacious, if history is any indicator. USC might look good like their cheerleaders, but unfortunately they also play like a bunch of cheerleaders without leadership. I'll take our cheerleaders and players over usc anytime!

Riley has won the contest for the nicest house of any pac-12 coach. Even this contest is nothing without the fence and security around it. Without that fence and security it would be destroyed in a week in LA. The same can be said of his program. Right now he has the nicest qb of any pac-12 coach. The problem is he has very little security for that qb. Programs will be going after his qb, I know at least Oregon will be, and they will be relentless. The O-line is weak and thin, so this security system is just like a little white picket fence, hop over and your in. Once in the security of Williams is all they got, no back-up system. The offense is a house of cards. The RB position is also weak, and thin. On defense they have no line. SC also has no culture of relentless play. Until Riley can build the nice house with a security system with redundancy sc won't be feared, nor respected, as it should be! That is actually what sc football is right now, all show and little substance. But he can always go back to his beautiful house and turn on the alarm system there. There won't be any fear there, but any coach at usc should fear for his job, as it only looks good on the outside, much like that house.

USC destroys coaches, Oregon makes great coaches. Until the patter changes, nothing else changes, go Ducks. Also agree with the pundit, Dan keeps checking all the boxes, can't wait to see the X' and O's in those boxes!

I grew up hating the beavers, always wanted them to lose. I now have much more pity for their athletic programs and want them to beat just about anyone but the Ducks. The dawgs grew into a much greater place on my distaste scale. I don't think I will even tire of seeing this type of seen, a picture, after all, is worth a thousand words.

Pac-12 officiating doesn't need a microscope to see the problems, but some decent glasses, and average processing speed. I find it interesting that the article is proud of not issuing a statement admitting they made a mistake. Just because you didn't admit to a mistake doesn't mean you didn't make one or more! It is astounding that a guy has been in charge of officiating for the past 7 years, and still has his job. I think it is telling the refs said, 'be nice to us' as they walked off the field. How would it be perceived if one of our qb candidates came off the field and said 'be nice to me?' The coaches would probably point the guy to the transfer portal and walk him through how to use it. The officiating in the Pac-12 seems to be under the same kind of guidance the Pac-12 was under Larry. He was able to convince those in charge all was good. Our officiating is the laughing stock of college football. The Stanford game last season is a perfect example. Just because these guys decided the game was called well doesn't mean it was. Let me be clear, we lost that game, the refs didn't decide the game. Officiating is a perfect area for George to put his stamp. With a guy in charge of officiating with two games of experience, there seems to be some low hanging fruit ready to be picked. Time to step up and show us what you got!

Sure hope the offense can show some firepower in the spring game. I expect the defense to be at an advantage, but the spring game will begin to show who is the matchup nightmare, and who can't be stopped. Who has 'it' on the offensive side of the ball?

He definitely alludes to technique he is coaching wasn't being taught under the previous coaching group. He also seems to intimate the previous coaches didn't teach techniques necessary to dominate off the ball. He was very careful and respectful, but if you read between the lines he seems to indicate we will see a very different O-line this year. He may not have been on a national championship college team, but he played and coached at a level we haven't seen at this position. No disrespect towards Coach Greatwood, one of our greatest assistant coaches ever. I think the level of development and play is going to excel like we haven't seen in a while. This could turn out to be one of the best of his very good hiring at assistant coaches, I hope so.

I do hope he has an open lunch date with Bellotti and Brooks each week to learn more about playing in the Pac-12, and the Oregon Program through the rest of the spring and into the summer. I would love to see them all casting on the McKenzie, now that would be a photo! I have a feeling Brooks would school them all with a fly rod.
