I don't see any leadership from Ty whatsoever. He looks like a robot. Bo may not be perfect, but he exudes confidence and he seems better than Anthony Brown. Anthony was a great leader. That leadership is infectious and is important in stressful situations to the whole team.

If a team is going to lose one game in a season, my choice is the first game of the season to a strong team, rather than to a "weaker" team, or go undefeated and then lose during a conference championship or bowl game. A team can learn a lot from a wake up call early. Win or learn. Go Ducks!

Oregon was over rated all of last year and again coming into this game. The early ratings have been the joke of sports for decades. Georgia defeated the number 1 rated team 33-18 last year. In my book, that's a beat down. My "Oh Crud" moment from Saturday is that the SEC has evolved from bigger, slower, out of shape linemen to bigger, stronger, and faster linemen. I also don't think the Pac-12 has fully recovered from the 2020 partial season, yet. That was a long layover. It feels like the conference had jet lag last year. None of that is on the coaching staff.

If name, image, and likeness revenue is a prospect's top priority, I would show them the door. I blame UCLA and USC's slump on the "Hollywood" factor. They can sign the most talented men in SoCal, but many if them are more concerned about fame than the game if football. My stomach will turn this Saturday if I see Ducks flexing when they make a routine play against an FCS foe. Celebrating great plays and big plays is encouraged. Do it with class as Men of Oregon. First, recruit future Men of Oregon whose top priority is playing great football. The revenue will find them.

Part of the "problem" lies with the invitational process to crown a national champion. The final grade used to vote teams into the playoff included "pre-season" game win/loss records, points for and points against totals and key statistics. Prior to the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), games prior to conference play didn't really matter. Those games gave teams, coaches, and players a chance to work out kinks and give all players in-game reps and allow them to feel the thrill of building stats that count. Today, every game counts. There isn't a pre-season. There is more pressure to give the first string game reps, even in garbage time. Running up the score and building bloated stats is rewarded at season end by the playoff committee. Unfortunately, this means if the Ducks don't blow out EWU or Boise St or, please no, get blown out, we probably won't see any quarter back, other than Nix.

As I get older, I find my brain slowing down. I'm asking for help by using fewer abbreviations and acronyms in posts. Trying to read a post without getting slowed down and distracted by abbreviations and acronyms is becoming somewhat frustrating. I have done this thousands of times, too. While reading, I have to convert the letters to words in my slowing brain and sometimes have to factor in context. A few examples are: O = Offense or Oregon? D = Ducks or defense? DL = Defensive Line or Dan Lanning? Bo = Bo or body odor? (trying to keep things light) I can handle a few in a post but when they are salted and peppered throughout, I am more inclined to check out. It's men against boys. The grasshoppers against the ants. I've never seen an Oregon team look so small. I like the offensive play calling. But the players look slower than in the past to me.

I'm concerned about the O the first game because since Taggart, there have been a lot of changes EVERY year since. The O has lost momentum. It might take a few games to gel. After a year of short passes last season many WRs lost out on valuable in-game experience and were frustrated. Losing both premier RBs doesn't help, but that's CFB. Are the RBs going to be ready the first game of the season? I'm looking forward to watching Cardwell and McGee. Relying on a Sr transfer QB hasn't worked out very well for Oregon. Nix can knock over a scoreboard with his arm, but sometimes pulls out the cannon on very short throws causing drops. He seems to sell the play action well. He can run. Does he stay focused? Go Ducks!

Frost called the plays and it was covered more than once during televised games. He was the poster child for getting calls down to the backup QBs that resulted in successive plays run within several seconds and the media loved to talk about it. I don't have an issue with Frost. But Nebraska fan's arrogance during and after their heyday makes this drought seem like poetic justice. The combination of Kelly, Helfrich, and Frost arguably gave us fans and many CFB fans some of the most exciting football to watch. But, without a Natty it is almost like only eating desserts. It's not healthy to live on just desserts. I can appreciate Cristobal's meat and baked potatoes approach. He had some success. But I'd like to see a full course from Lanning and company, not just FROSTing. Go Ducks!!

Seems like Brown's numbers were inflated because he was relegated to a lot of dinks and dunks due to his horrid accuracy past 10 yards. I love his heart, guts, and attitude. He's one heck of a classy man. But I'm past ready for someone new.
