  1. Valid point on Dilly making that call. I do however, think Dilly will make that call again. Seven is a burner and I like that Oregon took the shot. I think a lot of Duck fans are fatigued with QB play of late. With all around offensive play for that matter. Could be unfair to Nix, but Duck fan might pull the chord quick. Some it appears, already have. I am going to try and give Bo a long leash. I think he deserves it. Too many new variables on this Duck team. With all the complexities of the new everything, I don't think its wise to make strong opinion or scapegoat any one on this team. After say WSU, then yeah, hell fire will be in order. This coaching staff saw what everyone else saw. I am going to give them an opportunity to grow and get better before I filet their backside. But man, I so badly wanted them to be competitive against UGA. They weren't, few are. Go Ducks!
  2. It was a little under thrown. My take is the receiver has as much the responsibility to adjust to the ball and box out the defenders. I just dont think Nix should take all the blame. Especially when a true freshman (I think), at full speed, recognizes ball placement, adjusts, leaves his feet and makes the catch. Just an amazing defensive play.
  3. I don't think Bo was horrible. He threw one legit, poor decision pick. The other one was a good throw the defender earned. Yea, Oregon couldn't get in the endzone. Thats not compleatly on Nix. There are 11 players on Offense, not one. Everybody has to make plays. Last years perception of Duck QB play seems to have carried over. Hardly fair after one game against the defending champs. Dawgs might be in the convo as the best in history this year. I think Bo will have the best year of his career going forward. I will not rush to condemn this team after one throw away game nobody truly thought Oregon could win. I picked Oregon in the OBDF contest and talked them up. Threw shade at Dawg fan. Thats what I do as a Duck fanatic. I hoped they could compete, They didn't. I hoped they could win, they didn't. In hindsight it is clear why. But Oregon is a good football team. A good program. And Oregon fan will get the last Rah this season.
  4. Get Moore in next year and see what he is. TT and JB aren't ready to play now? I doubt they ever will be. Hopefully one of them stays and Moore is bona-fide starter. Grab another backup out of the portal. To me it doesn't matter it they transfer end of year. Lanning needs to start building the team he wants, starting with Moore.
  5. Putting that first pick on Bo, imo, isn't really fair. That was an amazing defensive play. One of the best plays I have seen in a long time. It was a pretty good throw, the defender made a great play. For over a year now, we Duck fans have been screaming for Ducks to throw deep. We finally get it, the defender makes a play and now we blame the QB. Sorry, I can't have it both ways. Bo made a good throw, not perfect but good. Seven is shorter and was out of position. Defender made a great play, thats not on Nix.
  6. For perspective, UGA last year gave up average of 78 rush yards pg with a 2.6 ypc. They gave up a total of 3 rushing td all of 2021. Of the six AP top25 opponents UGA faced... one rushing TD given up. Now it seems the offense has caught up with their defense. Life is good for Dawgs fan. There will be many teams this year that will take a beating from UGA. I am going to root for every single one.
  7. Is this for game 2? If so, looks like everyone stayed healthy.
  8. Not winning this contest for this game sure feels like winning. Thanks for taking one for the rest of us Pac10again.
  9. Refs first game too. I thought the officiating was pretty good overall. One bright spot for the Ducks was penalty yards. It was under 50 yards I think. I guess its pretty hard to get PI call when the defender is 6 yards away. So there is that.
  10. So... MC proved you can recruit high talent to Oregon. Dan Lanning and his staff have proven they can recruit at a high level. 2 years and Lanning will be knocking on the door. UGA is a freak. Oregon can still make an NY6 game this year. Oregon will be just fine.
  11. I see a lot of positives. Dan Lanning had a teaching moment by his mentor. What DL does from here is what matters. As KS said. They will be fine. The last bricks of the MC foundation have been dismantled by UGA. I believe DL will build a champion from this beating he took. Its one loss. 11 more to play. I have dusted off my backside and am ready for the rest of the season.
  12. Fair enough. The feel started before the first snap. The camera was on Bo Nix and you could see fear and doubt on his face. He knew and that carried over to his teammates.
  13. 2nd q, I think Oregon was trailing 21-3 or 21 --0. Oregon was having success moving into UGA territory and the redzone. Bo threw that 2nd pick and thats when I started rooting for Ducks to get it inside 17.5. Then 28-3 and I knew, just like everyone else. Defensively? It was early, 2 UGA score.
  14. I don't think it is as simple as just having better players, however true it might be. Oregon players are in a position of unlearning Mario and learning Lanning. Doing so and being competitive against the defending champs is a big ask in 8 short months. Trying to use a similar defensive scheme in first game against an opponent that has been perfecting it for 6 years is tough. Unfortunately Oregon had to go up against the master and innovator of our new scheme game one. Yikes!
  15. I disagree with the premise of this article. I disagree with likening this game to a payout game. And I wholeheartedly disagree that Oregons journey the past couple decades wasn't worth it. Offensively Oregon made plays, moved the ball to Georgia's side of the field several times. Got into the redzone several times. Just couldn't get into the endzone. Scoring touchdowns is hard against the Dawgs. They gave up less than 1 in 4 in the redzone last year. Georgia looked mid season form and should be applauded for it. This was Lanning's 1 game ever as a head coach, not his ninth season. I am going to cut him some slack. I believe he is the right guy. The defense has me concerned. The secondary was lit up, linebackers were non existent, and tackling was atrocious. Could have a lot to do with UGA scheme and talent. I suspect not entirely, got to fix that coach. If we are comparing this game to the 85 Neb game, the stats show a different story. Yea, it wasn't a good look for Oregon. But there were some good moments offensively. They did some things right. Georgia just might be what we saw Saturday, arguably the best team in college football. Perhaps the best in history, we will know more in late November. ORE NEB First downs 7 29 Rushes-yards 27-73 77-444 Passing yards 33 145 Comp-Att-Int 7-28-4 9-14-0 Total offense 55-106 91-589 Return yards 55 77 Sacks by 1-2 2-12 Punts 9-43 4-40 Fumbles-lost 4-2 3-0 Penalties-yards 9-75 8-68 Time of possession 18:51 41:09
  16. Nice find, absolutely right it seems. Lanning better secure Dante Moore. Looks like we have no backup to lean on. Hopefully that changes with Ty or Butters by the end of the year.
  17. Same thought I have. How bare is the cupboard?
  18. Huge concern of mine also. Before first play of the game Nix looked nervous. Infectious, the whole team played like it. Not a good look. But like I said, Georgia was a machine. They are going to make a lot of teams look bad.
  19. I am going to pump the brakes on the all-in sky is falling. I think the Dawgs are going to show most teams, what they dished to the Ducks will not be an anomaly. B2B I also believe Lanning will show the UGA game was an anomaly. All summer the idea of giving Lanning some time was discussed frequently on OBDF. Nothing changes.
  20. If TT and Butters are not ready to play after 2 and 3 years? They will never be ready. Hard to believe that a high 4*/5* aren't ready to play. Almost unbelievable. What have they been doing the last couple years, playing Pong? Two head coaches have refused to play them. Speaks volumes. After yesterday, doesn't seem Mariø left the cupboard full at all. 11 more games. We will see.
  21. How old is Lanning? It's his first game as a HC. Plays the Defending champs right out of the gate. Dawgs were in late season form. That first pick was as good of D as I have ever seen. Spectacular play. Dawgs are going B2B. This is a long season. I think Lanning is the right guy. Give him some time. A lot of people think highly of Dan Lanning. Smart and Sabin are two of them.
  22. This loss was a team effort. Everyone participated in the beating they took. Top down.
