Utah Beats USC 43-42! Game Thread
You guys don't ahve a lot to worry about USC. Bo Nix will shred these guys.

finally a little bit of defense.

my thought too. But seems like more and more they allow that hand full of jersey and you pretty much have to tackle someone to get called for holding.

Utah Beats USC 43-42! Game Thread
So hard to watch our defense get pushed around. Coach Whittingham is a hard nosed, no nonsense defensive guy. Its just so out of character to see us weak on D.

Utah Beats USC 43-42! Game Thread
Don't know if maybe this has already be discussed (haven't read much on the forum today) but I'll bet it seems weird to you guys to see Travis Dye in a Trojans uniform. Such an old school hard working, hustling kid. And if I remember right there was no clear reason given as to why he transferred. Won't likely play at the next level. Seems to be just working hard and playing hard for the college memories.

Alabama Goes Down 52-49!
most exciting game I've watched in a long time. Sad to say it but isn't a team in the PAC 12 right now that plays even remotely close to that level of football.

Be glad your ducks have a defense. So hard to sit here and root for a team that has a good offense and no defense.

What Do You Think of the Pink Theme for UCLA Game?
Uncle Phil gave over a billion dollars to OHSU to build the Knight Cancer Center. That's doing something that really makes a difference. But I don't begrudge anyone from using the pink to draw attention to it. With so much toxicity in the world right now it's nice to see anything that's positive.

UCLA is Rolling
That was hard to watch. Our defense is usually so stout. Looks like you guys are going to have your hands full in two weeks.

What Grade Should Lanning Receive So Far As Head Coach?
I'll give him an A as a very early interim grade because: 1. This is his FIRST ever head coaching job....imagine what an incredible leap that is at any level let alone coming to a program with the expectations that are at Oregon. Think of your first day nervousness walking into a new job. Then imagine how he had to have felt walking into this. Excited yes, but it still has to be pretty overwhelming. i can picture him laying in bed at three in the morning staring at the ceiling and saying to his wife "can you freakin' even believe I'm the head football coach at the University of Oregon? How did I get from waiter at Outback Steakhouse to this. Can I really do this?" and her saying "go back to sleep. You've got a team meeting early tomorrow." 2. He's won the games he was expected to win. Not pretty but he has the "W's" and has created some momentum. All that said, it is way too early to even have any clue whatsoever about what kind of HC he'll be in the long run. I think it'll take at least two seasons to truly get an accurate read on him.

Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?
I used to feel that way about Oregon too. The reason? During the Chip Kelly era when you guys were in the hunt for national championship's I knew one or two really, really, really obnoxious and arrogant Duck fans at my place of employment. I made the stupid mistake of painting all Duck fan's with that same brush. Then I stumbled upon this FishDuck board and was pretty blown away at how classy y'all are. Totally changed me. I'll be rootin' for ya (until you play Utah).

Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?
I haven't read this whole thread yet so maybe this has already been covered, but here's my take..... I think Oregon's biggest challenge this week is to stay injury free. Play the starters long enough to get the win and then get them the heck on the bench.

OBD Prediction Contest vs. Washington State!
Oregon 31-14 3 3 289 Coug's at home start strong feeding off of the crowd with a lot of energy and excitement. Score is surprisingly close at halftime and Duck fans are a bit nervous. In the second half the Duck's superior talent and physicality takes over and wears down the over-matched Cougars.

OBD Prediction Contest vs. BYU!
Oregon 24-10 2 TO's 3 Sacks 250 Passing Yards BYU comes out flat and tired on the road after big emotional win last week. Oregon still hungry to reclaim their reputation after losing so big to Georgia.

Is Noah Sewell Regressing?
Just wondering what you duck fans think about the play of Noah Sewell over the last three or four games (going back to last season)? He seemed so dominant when he first got to Oregon but to me it seems like his play has been steadily regressing. He was basically non existent yesterday. Have teams just learned how to game plan around him or is something wrong with him? At the end of last year I thought maybe he was just banged up with some minor nagging injuries from a long season, but that logic can't account for yesterday.

Clarification -Flowe's Hit
At full speed I was positive it was targeting...but after the replay clearly not targeting and not even a late hit.

Lanning Press Conference
I'm honestly surprised to hear that you guys found him to be impressive. To me he seemed very nervous even to the point that his voice was shakey and timid. To me he just gave off the vibe that he felt like he was in way over his head. Kind of like Helfrich used to be in these settings. That said, he is a really young guy with a great track record and will probably grow into the job over the coming months and years. It will be interesting to see him give a strong, confident press conference somewhere down the road and go back and compare it to this very shaky one. I'm a Utes fan but I do wish him and the ducks all the best (except when they're playing us! 🙂).
