  1. Or worse 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. I know those plays have a place but they don't work unless there's a deep threat. I much prefer throwing pass the first down marker.
  2. Dose Sabine or Smart call those timeouts when their team was struggling like that? The answer is NO they just try to get out of the half and make adjustments at halftime. Lanning still needs to improve on his situational awareness. Got to know when to fold them and get ready for the next hand.
  3. Come on Joey what else you have to do in retirement? Chalk it up as community service I'm sure Lanning will get a free golf membership at the local country club. Lol
  4. I'm loving Brandon Finney at nickel! First off his run support is excellent and his tackling is some of the best on the team. Having him at nickel brings him closer to the middle of the field and therefore closer to the action on every play. Nasir Wyatt getting more playing time has been a big plus as he has the speed to get to the sideline and pursue a speedy QB when they take off. Not to mention his ability to pass rush. He needs more playing time. Devin Jackson was looking good as a true freshman. It's always fun when you say out loud "who was that". A ton of underclassman got a lot of playing time last night and they look pretty good.
  5. Didn't we already have a Coach who went for two all the time and then had to back that off because he realized he was putting himself in a bad position on a regular basis. The difference between a great team that wins national championships and a great team that never quite gets there is the small things. Clock management, when to go for it on fourth down or instead play field position, when to go for two, ect. The great coaches seem to not gamble unless they have to not because they want to be cute or impose their will.
  6. Sometimes I feel like Mario is back with these runs up the middle that everyone knows is coming and an offensive line that's not capable of making it happen.
  7. Replacing a safety of that caliper is a tall order, but I was hoping for a little bit more as well.
  8. I think the Ducks would be unstoppable with him as OC. He would need to take a page or of Chip Kellys book at OSU and stays in the booth during games. Whit him the chances of a National Championship are greatly increased. Dan could concentrate on D and get that up to snuff. I'm not sure his Defensive minds can take 2 new guy at coordinator positions and his time would be better spent on the D. Ohio State and Chip Kelly is a perfect example of how this could work. Don't let him near a camera or the Defense.
  9. Came across this analysis which was great for me as a non Xs and Os guy. He breaks down some of the deficiencies on on both the offense and defense. https://youtu.be/v2VHve7Jn0U?si=rrank7vR2U-I2D7m As far as I see it, the offense can't stay on the field and the defense can't get off of it. Who's to blame?
  10. For the life of me, I don't know why they don't mix in more fake screen passes where one of the blockers ends up running a slant or go route behind the charging defense. This at least keeps them honest.
  11. Finally got to watch the game and from the looks of it this game would look very different if it wasn't for one blatant missed call and a couple really stupid penalties.
  12. I don't mind the RB by committee approach but I would like to see it as more of a per drive basis. Way to many stalled drives on RB changes mid drive.
  13. Really fun classic game, Ducks starting to feel it playing small ball.
  14. Finally calming down and settling in.
  15. Thanks for the play by play, I was only able to listen to the game for the first few inning.
