airspace - Not long at all, and appreciate your perspective! As a Penn State guy, I wish you the best of luck with the Irish this weekend. I just don't care for them. Ducks fans, it may sound funny, but the #5 Irish are a bigger underdog against the #2 Buckeyes than UO is against GA.

It's not green, but I have to admit this is a good look. It's not overly complicated. The black pin-stripping on the pants and sleeves, the black number outline, and the black "G" give it just the right amount of zing. Plus, that logo is just downright synonymous with winning football right now. The red resembles like the blood that was in the water when the GA defense was on the field last year. Let's hope that has mellowed just a tad. Can't wait to see the clash of complimentary colors on Saturday!

Actually, I didn't hear her favor or oppose "further" expansion. She appropriately used "president speak" to comment on the recent inclusion of USC & UCLA into into the BIG, and what those two schools bring to the table academically, while ever-so-slightly referencing athletics. The presidents statement was far from "the more-the-merrier" as the news anchor leads us to believe. That being said, I do find it difficult to believe tOSU would object to adding schools that would make the BIG a better and/or more profitable conference.

I'll go with a bootleg of some type. I think Dilly's going to want to show immediately that the Duck QB is not going to be a stationary target, and he also may want to put a little pressure on the Dawg D. A counter naked boot would be adventuresome against a disciplined defense like GA's, but maybe Dilly's a gambler. Who knows? Regardless, I think the QB rolls on play #1. Just wait, we'll all be on the edge of seats and the Ducks will run a dive up the A gap on the right side for .5 yards. The ghost of MC lingers.

Not too sure about the USC fan base, but big market media outlets are driving me nuts. With people like Cowherd, I used to be able to change the channel when I thought they were on a tireless rant I didn’t agree with. I would wait a few minutes, and then tune back in. Now, I check in about once a week, and I’ll be darned if I don’t hear someone praising USC within half an hour. Just past 3PM (EST) today I tuned in to Fox Sports radio just in time to hear the host asking a guest two questions. He asked which team will be the most intriguing to watch this year, and he asked which team will be the surprising team of the year? Not only was the answer to both questions USC, but the notable guest writer also commented that the Trojans will push, if not be in, the top 5 by season’s end! I live on the east coast, so at a local level I’m not inundated with Trojan love, but man, the folks that cover college football nationally have just been over-the-top. Given the cornucopia of pre-season accolades being piped specifically into the west coast , I wouldn't be surprised if Trojan fan is just basically unbearable right now.

The above statement makes complete sense in reference to an experienced player, but Travis decided to take it one step further. Being the veteran that he is, he’s taken part in many interviews, and understands that his words carry weight and will be displayed for all to see. The “I didn’t know any better, that's not what I meant” card is no longer at his disposal. Being complimentary of your new team is part of the game. It makes you a member of the club and shows that you are all-in with the “us against the world” mentality. I get it. Where I take issue (just an observation, really) with his comment is when he chooses to make a comparison. This is blatant and comes across as being passive-aggressive in nature. When he added, “better than any other group I’ve been part of” to his statement, that was pretty much an eye-poke at Oregon without having the nerve to directly say so. Someone suggested that we be the bigger person here. Well, physically in comparison to that lilliputian, mid-1970’s Gabe Kaplan style mustache having backstabber - I am...by a couple phonebook thicknesses. This may read as if I’m bitter about Dye’s departure. I’m actually very happy with our current RB room and I typically wouldn’t even bother to voice an opinion on this guy. You've developed a very strong football acumen, Charles. I'm embarrassed to say that I hung in there until the conclusion of week 9. **I'm not sure what's more impressive...than Charles only needed three games to realize our "O" was stuck in neutral. **

Sure, he can fail. Any endeavor, no matter how painstakingly thorough the preparation, can end in failure. That being said, at this moment I don’t think we could have expected any more than what we’ve seen from DL, and all indicators are pointing in a very positive direction. I’m cautiously optimistic that the Ducks will be a force under DL’s supervision. Let’s be the smart fanbase (confident we will be) that doesn’t rush to judgment after a few games.

Two things make this simple for me. I’m two hours from Beaver Stadium, and I’m a White-Out veteran. I strongly encourage anyone that has to opportunity to attend a White-Out game to please do so. If you’re into stadium amenities and extras – this ain’t it. If you want the ultimate college game day environment - this is it. The Ducks going to the BIG is still such a pipe dream to me that I haven't put any thought into this potential match-up. Oregon...Happy Valley...White-Out = Bucket List

I would have been thrilled to have him in Eugene, and I think in short order he will make that team very formidable. I'm actually one of the not-so-popular posters when it comes to predicting the Ducks record this season as I see them at 8-4. Now, if the Ducks prove me wrong and make it to the conference championship, I would wager that they would win. Getting to that point would be confirmation that the DL hire and Bo Nix (or whoever) experiment was a success. Lot of folks on this board see it that way, and I hope they are right.

Yes, I’ll give you the nod that he amassed decent numbers while running the gauntlet of Western Carolina, K-State, Texas (still can’t play defense), TCU, Kansas, and Texas-Tech. That looks even worse digitally than it sounds verbally. Lol. But…you can’t ignore what happened against Top 20 (2 game sample), in conference, competition. I watched both those games (loses), and was surprised that Williams' stat lines were as good as they were. 3TD's and 2 Pics while completing a frog's hair over 50 percent (50.7%) of his passes. Defenses turned the heat up and the young man (like most) panicked. The reality is we can sit hear and pull fly crap sized offensive statistics out of pepper all day, but we got to remember these QB's are going to line-up against someone on the other side of the ball. Given that Captain Obvious statement, when comparing UO to USC, who's defensive unit do you believe will provide more resistance to opposing offenses? At the end of the day, the answer to that question may play the biggest role in deciding the conference pecking order, and I haven't heard that Williams and/or Nix are being considered for two-way duty. That last paragraph was for me because I occasionally neglect the fact that offenses have to work against an opposing force.

So, let’s take a quick look at the Grand Canyonesque disparity in just a few key 2021 passing stats between the two of them. Caleb – 174.1 yds./game, 64.5% completion, 211 attempts – 4 Int’s Bo – 229.4 yds./game, 61.0% completion, 323 attempts – 3 Int’s Of course, I cherry-picked a couple categories but with the obvious chasm between the playing abilities of Lord Williams, Duke of Los Angles, and Peasant Boy Bo, I would hope to see sizable gaps in ANY statistical category that favor LA’s knight in shining armor. By the way, what’s the curve for putting up stats against SEC competition vs. doing it in a conference where defense is optional for a few teams? Me personally, I like what Wonder Boy did his last 3 regular season games (Baylor, ISU, and Ok. St.) of ’21 vs. adequate opponents. Come get some of this stat line, Tommy Trojan. CW went 37 of 75 (49%), 4 TD’s & 3 Pics, 160.3 yds./game, with an astonishing QBR of 63.7. Gosh guys, he’s so good he threw the ball with his left hand in these games just to make things fair! I’m not suggesting the kid is not good. He was the 2nd ranked QB coming out of high school and does show moments of solid to excellent QB play. To me there’s just not enough consistency in his game to break-out the anointing oils. As for Matt Zemek’s proposition of laying a few $20’s, I’ll make it a few $50’s with one caveat. MZ comments on finishing behind Oregon, so I assume he’s alluding to the regular season. That’s not good enough. My wager would be on the two playing head-to-head in the conference championship. If that were to happen, then I would say Bo exceeded expectations, and with help of his Duck cohorts, they will deliver well-deserved Trojan beatdown. I'm thinking Andrew’s take on Bo’s comments say more about Andrew than Bo. The only thing “awkward” is how poorly Bo’s comments were transcribed. Bo’s reference to the “O” gives us insight into the respect he (Bo) has for the program and that he understands Oregon’s stature in the college football community. Does he hint at Oregon having a path to the CFP – yes. But doesn’t that accompany being a P5 team that plays for conference titles? As Bo says, “why not Oregon”. My Auburnese is a little rusty, but here’s my advice for Andrew. “Move on. I understand you’re jealously because Bo is playing part of a team that has you’re in a year out has a chance to be in the four of the final. Your and many of you War Eagle dips of sticks had been taking way too time and time and energy worrying about Bo. Get it over.” Wow! That was tougher than I thought, but luckily, I retained a lot of what I learned from my time working in Alabama. Roll Tide!

Glad to read this article. Much of the news regarding recruiting at Oregon highlights perimeter players and skill position players. So much so that even given Lanning’s background, I was feeling as if the lines on both sides of the ball were being slightly overlooked. Should have know I was wrong about that, and that I should just trust that DL has things under control. 🙂

MC will be just fine at tU. You don’t have to exactly run a gauntlet loaded with trap doors and booby traps when playing in the ACC. For crying out loud, the 2021 Subway ACC Championship Game was a battle waged between college football powerhouses - Pitt and Wake Forest. Doesn’t really move the needle, does it? If you care to keep one eye on the Canes this year, I suggest keeping eyeball number two on Clemson. The Tigers saw their six-year run of manhandling the ACC come to a surprising end last season, and for the first time in long time, displayed QB play that can at best be described as “sub-par”. Will the Tigers bounce back or can MC inch the Canes closer to the glory of days gone by? Yes, I’m comfortable in overlooking the Pitt’s and Wake’s of the ACC. The Slurpers and the Mopes will certainly be using the Nov. 19 game in Death Valley as a litmus test for their head-to-head battle of words regarding the Havana Huckster. Me personally - I don’t care. I don’t have to watch. I know MC is the guy that will lend credibility to your program, and I know he’s the guy that year in and year out can get you a solid nine wins. I also know that if you aspire to greater heights, his lack of vision and creativity will be your downfall. Congrats to the Slurpers for winning the initial battle, but the ultimate glory of winning the war will belong to the Mopes.

I believe the answer is contained in one sentence of the editorial. "So much depends upon the actual photo…as some cross the line, while others are benign and symbolize the celebration that is being an Oregon Duck." I’m not sure there’s relevance in posting pictures solely of young ladies clothed in not much more than beach apparel, and I can’t believe I just typed that. In today's "I'm offended" environment, photos of that nature open to door to questions and criticism. Now, I do see significance to having cheerleaders in photos that help convey emotion during a moment of the game. Running onto the field, post-score reactions, brief interactions with fans and mascots, and sadly, even tears from heart-breaking losses can be elicit an emotion and are worthy of being captured by camera. Me personally - not offended, but I can't even begin to quantify the percentages of people that stand on either side of this discussion. In this scenario playing it safe (right or wrong) seems to be the way to go. Slightly off topic, but I want to get this out there. Yelling, screaming, clapping fans coupled with the sideline visual of waving pom-poms and dance teams heighten our viewing experience and simply add to the greatness that can only be seen in college football. When the UO support team (cheerleaders, etc.) take the field it enhances an already revved-up environment. You not only will have to deal with a football team ready to kick your a**, but now you’re going to witness support in numbers you haven’t seen. Support that’s going to push this crowd to edge and beyond. You look in the stands – all you see is green and yellow. Your focus your eyeballs to the field and sidelines hoping to find a respite from what’s going on around you but to your chagrin all you find is Oregon’s support teams gaining momentum and enthusiasm as you find that yours is waning with each passing minute. You’re in Autzen, baby. You have a front row seat to your own private hell for the next couple of hours. Do you now understand now why teams don’t want to play here? Come on, we know the answer. I’ve been referencing all those athletes other than the Oregon football team as “support team”. I think they are fabulous, and an integral part of what makes the Oregon football experience special.

If Nix really is the leader in the clubhouse, and if you truly buy in to this take (I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t), then couldn’t you also surmise that Ty & Butters just really are not that good? Perhaps my initial prediction of a four-loss regular season isn’t one to be scoffed at after all.
