  2. Oregon basketball secures the commitment from Boston College starting PG Fred PayneThe Ducks have gone into the transfer portal and landed a commitment from a Power 4 starting PG.Payne is ranked by 247Sports as a three-star transfer portal prospect and the No. 187 overall player in the portal rankings. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard gives Oregon a downhill attacker, creator and scoring option at the point guard spot. The Ducks entered the portal cycle needing more ball-handling, more pressure on the rim and another player capable of creating offense off the bounce. Payne checks those boxes after a productive season at Boston College. https://247sports.com/college/oregon/article/oregon-basketball-secures-the-commitment-from-boston-college-starting-pg-fred-payne-283250097/

  7. Oregon coach Dan Lanning did not hesitate when asked about a proposed shift that could move the college football season earlier beginning in 2027. "Move it up. I've been very clear, but I think it solves a lot of problems in college football. We have one portal window. I don't think the portal should exist at the same time that football's being played. On the same note, I think the semester should be kind of the start of a new season, a new term," Lanning said. “And right now we'll be in the second semester of school, but still, at the same time playing football. It doesn't line up with the windows of academic calendars. The closer we get to the season ending on January 1, the better it is, I think, for all programs, coaching transitions, all things exist. So it's a really easy fix. In my opinion, we'll see if we can get closer and closer to that," Lanning continued. In many ways, the proposal mirrors a structural fix Lanning has been advocating for: Start the season earlier, speed up the postseason and have the season end before Jan. 1. For Lanning, this is not simply about moving kickoff up a week. It is about correcting what he sees as multiple flaws in college football’s current calendar Oregon Ducks On SIDan Lanning Doubles Down On College Football Calendar FixEUGENE - Oregon coach Dan Lanning did not hesitate when asked about a proposed shift that could move the college football season earlier beginning in 2027. “Mov

Ahead of them, UCLA remained at No. 1, despite dropping a game to Sacramento State, and Oregon State also remained at No. 6, despite falling to the Ducks. 12. Kendre Harrison (6-7 / 243 lbs) was quite the basketball player in high school. But, who knows if there’s the possibility of him playing two sports. Football and basketball will overlap. Kendre Harrison focused on ‘football first’ over basketball with Oregon DucksAs impressive as the feat may be, it's not unusual to see an athlete compete in two sports in Eugene. It's possible to do both, but the Ducks are now facing some difficult decisions and conversations with freshman tight end Kendre Harrison. The 6-foot-7 target from Reidsville, North Carolina, signed with the Ducks as a four-star recruit in both football and basketball. While he has been competing for a backup role on Oregon's offense in his first season, the potential for playing time as a freshman on the hardwood has opened up, with Dana Altman overseeing a bevy of changes to his roster. For now, Dan Lanning wants Harrison to keep his focus where his feet are, on the football field. "It's always been the plan when he got here to focus really on football first, and then we'll see what opportunities present themselves as that comes along," Lanning said after Saturday's spring game. "We saw a guy today get drafted who played baseball here, and now he's going to go play football for the Colts in Bryce. We have Dakorien right now doing two sports as well ... It's certainly something we can do." https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/04/27/oregon-football-kendre-harrison-focused-football-over-basketball/89805005007/
