He used to do the same thing when he was at Oregon. He always referred to Alabama as 'the place I was at previously'. Used to drive me crazy ( I don't know why) but why not just say ' I recruited him when I was at Oregon'.

My perception as well. I think there is a reason Ed is hanging around Miami. I know one of his son's is an asst there but I am guessing Ed has his eye on that job.

Dilly has a five star QB coming in next year. I think he has the luxury to wait. The NCAA has not weighed in on ASU yet and they may get hit hard. I can't imagine Dilly wants to start out with that mess. He could sit for another year, build some more cred and possibly have some better choices. Just my two cents.

yes, that is what I thought too. He seemed to like portraying PK and Oregon as the evil empire and OS as the clean, apple pie and Mom operation in Corvallis. Side note, I heard that at the OS home opener which was well after the debacle in Ga that the OS band played Georgia On My Mind.

Agree that OS is definitely taking some steps forward. They are playing better football for sure. I could see them beating WSU but not so sure about USC. I saw only bits and pieces of the SC/Stanford game and SC did look decent. Their defense did allow Stanford 600 yds of offense so that is interesting. OS also travels to Utah and I could honestly see them losing to both SC and Utah. Just my guess at this point and nothing more.

Agree that they are factoring in home field. If the game were in Provo I would be really concerned. I am still concerned but hoping the home crowd is revved up and Autzen is loud.

There is a new guy at the O, Bill Oram and it seems he has sort of taken Canzano's place as the featured sports columnist. I have read his work several times now and wow, maybe I am wearing my green and yellow glasses when I read, but sheesh he sure does seem to have a love affair with OS. He seems to always find a way to get a little dig in at UO in every column and today's was really interesting. I normally take all that stuff with a grain of salt and chuckle but there seems to be a pattern. Any others seeing this or just me? Not much in the grand scheme of things but it has struck me as a little interesting.

It seems that way to my untrained eye.

Well reasoned post Hayward. I get in the heat of battle things get said. We all do it but some of the stuff yesterday was off the scales. I mean we had complaints about the coach's attire for pity sakes. It's very easy to coach from the comfort of our couches and see a replay 3 times and then make a decision or decide a different play might have been better. No doubt we were all disappointed but some of the commentary was a bit much and based on one game against a team that very likely could repeat as national champions.

Yes, there are rumors and rumblings that Mario's and Feld's acts were wearing thin. I have never been able To specifically confirm it though. There have been rumors that a number of the wide receivers would have transferred out as well . Again unsubstantiated. One thing that was interesting to me was on media day almost every player talked about football being 'fun again'. 'Fun again' being the operative phrase.

Clearly water underthe bridge at this point but I was told by multiple people inside the AD that Frost did not have as much playcalling responsibility as some thought. Again hard to look backwards but the people who told me certainly would have known.

Respectfully, I will disagree. Chip was calling the plays. When MH was the HC he called most of the plays as well , because quite honestly Helf and Frost did not get along at all and Helf did not trust Frost.

This is consistent with what I have heard and to DL's credit, he's far more patient with JC than Mario ever was. The veins in Mario's neck were bulging Everytime JC opened his mouth.

I am mixed on Wilner. There are some aspects of his reporting that are good and others that are weak. His deal with Oregon goes back to the Chip days when at one P12 media day he asked Chip a really, really dumb question and well, we all know how Chip disliked that sort of thing and he dissed Wilner. Jon never moved on from that. He referred to Chip as the Darth Vader of the P12 and oh boy, did Jon love the l'affaire de Willy Lyles. I believe at one point he predicted the death penalty for Oregon as a result of that dalliance. The nadir for Jon was the game at Stanford when Andrew Luck was in the running for the Heisman and Oregon was playing them on the farm. The Ducks came out in the first half and were very lack luster and based on accounts from various players Chip 'lit them up' at halftime and that included tipping over a table in the locker room. The Ducks came out on fire in the second half and won. Wilner never got over that because he predicted a blood bath for Oregon with Stanford running all over them. Every year when the Ducks make their annual pilgrimage to the Bay Area Jon sees a big win for either Cal or Stanford.

He always predicts that Oregon will lose to Stanford or Cal. That's his deal. It's like clockwork.

Here again- it's tough to cast aspersions on this. He was at the Univ of Chicago before coming to Oregon so this is an opportunity for him to go back 'home'. Let's also be fair, Northwestern is a very prestigious institution and this is likely an opportunity he could not pass up. He will be missed. He was always an academician and grew to love sports. While he will be greatly missed at a time when his leadership on the P12 Presidents Council is vital, this sounds like it is a great opportunity for him.

The other side of this is that other than Mirabal , Salavea' and Feld no other coaches from UO joined him. I know that Bryan McClendon was there for a minute before moving on to Ga but Mario did not take much of the former UO staff. There was some 'word on the street' that some would have not gone with him even if he had offered. Of course both Wilson and Moorehead got head coaching jobs and Jim Mastro chose to stay on the west coast due to some family health issues so there were some extenuating circumstances but I think there were some frayed nerves there at the end.
