My FishDuck Friends,

Let's discuss the game in this thread and have fun with it!

Here's hoping for a big game from Johnny Johnson III!

Well, I guess that answers the QB question. Per Moseley Shough takes warmup snaps from Forsyth, and Brown takes them from Denis. Show 'em your best stuff, Tyler!

Not feeling too good after that drive from Iowa state...

The defense lacks the fire that carried them in the oac-12 championship game.

Swiss cheese D

No.

In the USC game the D got better as the game went on. Hopefully they will do the same here.

No.

Offense looked good ... They gutted the Iowa State defense pretty well there.

Happy to see a successful drive after the first run by Shough of that drive.

But they also started out a whole lot hotter... USCs first drive ended in an interception.

smashing block by Kampmoyer!

Better at slowing the run this second ISU drive... But struggling pretty bad to get any pass rush in.

tough guy ball is not happening

No.

No defense there either

So which offense will hiccup first ??

With Iowa State taking a half of the entire first quarter their first scoring drive--it means that Oregon will have far fewer possessions in this game than normal, thus you have to make the most of every possession on offense and the defense has to make some stops!

The big play by Dye effectively had a slice block by our TE, but not on the edge defender, but on an Inside Linebacker, and THAT is an interesting variation!

My biggest fear coming into this game was that the Ducks would lay a massive egg.

Some will not be happy about this comment but I would bring back Helf--we are not prepared well

It's only partway through the second quarter with a one-touchdown deficit. Let's quell the panic. Iowa State is a really good team.

How about Sean Dollars?

Brown is the man!!

No.

That was a 99 yard drive. I think we have a new QB.

Be nice if he sticks around one more year.

I'm for Helfrich coming back as offensive coordinator when Moorhead moves on... I know there is a FishDuck article somewhere that talks a lot about that.

Though it does look like Oregon is figuring things out.

Very, very thin depth at ILB.

Helfrich had a completely different HC to work for back then, won't work with Cristobal, as we saw when Helfrich went pro.

Iowa State is what a well-coached, disciplined, cohesive team looks like. They're really good.

Agreed... Though what is also showing right now is how much more expirence this iowa state team has over Oregon. They are loaded with seniors and have almost played double the games of Oregon.

More practice time, more game time and it is all very hard to make up. Especially for the youngest team in the country.

Malibu Mustache Man!

Need some good half time adjustments ... Especially on defense.

Regardless of the outcome, I see a very, very young Ducks team that suffers hugely, both in talent and leadership, from the opt-outs in the defensive backfield.

They're game, they're talented, but mistakes hurt them.

And, Iowa State is really, really good on offense. Who can tell about their defense when they always have the ball?

We will never be that desperate

First half: too many giveaways: Dye fumble on an inappropriate run call on 2nd and 20, Hold negating great Pittman TD catch, D J Johnson error in fielding kickoff.  Also, unnecessary targeting by our LB...

Too many mistakes. Mistakes on the defense and special teams. Lets see what QB2 can do in the second half.

Not denying that.  But, was in over his head as Head Coach, imho.

Chip called the plays. Helf was OC in name only.

This is starting to look like the Oregon State game.

3 turnovers.... No overcoming this against a solid team.

Haven’t stopped an ISU drive once, so far(through 3rd qtr)

Caused by “coaching, coaching, coaching”?

Special teams don't appear to be coached or prepared!
