Monday at 01:06 PM4 days No. It's June!!! That means in just a little over fifty plus days we will be getting Summer camps. But at Big Twelve media days, Texas Tech coach Joey Maguire publicly said Texas Tech would buy out of their week one game vs Cheerios University, to play Texas in a week one showcase.Apparently this is a response to some leaked meetings where Texas officials were denigrating the Big 12 prior to the CFP selection show.Of course this isn't going to happen. But it's good drama during sleepy season. Texas has a nine game SEC season and Ohio State. I wouldn't call that an easy slate, but it's always good to see Texas get some jabs thrown at them.Oh, and don't let the fact that each SEC program will get an additional five million dollars for playing an extra conference game get swept under the rug. Monday at 06:21 PM4 days Moderator No. At a meeting of Texas alums in Houston, Sark, after criticizing Ole Miss for having a Basket Weaving major, called out TT's 2026 schedule; he wasn't wrong in doing so. The Red Raiders' schedule is a joke. You can bet 😁 that Larry, Moe, and Curly could take turns playing QB, and TT will finish no worse than 11-1. Cherrios? No way, the opener is against the Abilene Christian Wildcat (not cats), a team skilled at turning the other cheek. Sark is making friends all across Dixie. Texas does have a tough schedule this season.https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-rankings-toughest-schedule-stretches-2026-big-ten-sec-cfp/

The Red Raiders' schedule is a joke.Only way the schedule really changes though is if they get an SEC invite. Otherwise they have to just play their schedule. They do have some control over OOC Games but those are set so many years ago that they aren't all that reliable in terms of opponents anyways. I think OOC needs a full rework but that requires central planning and control which is not the NCAA. Otherwise... I can't really begrudge a real in a weak conference for playing a weak schedule. That's (mostly) not their fault at this point. Is the SEC going to invite TT anytime soon to change that? I kinda doubt it. FSU and Clemson seem like bigger priorities if they do any realignment.

Monday at 07:55 PM4 days Moderator No. Great comment, David, thanks. BTW, I miss Monday with Marsh. From what I've read and also heard in Dixie, with Florida and South Carolina in the conference, the SEC is not that interested in FSU and Clemson. The team in the south that is considered to be the prize is North Carolina, where the B1G and the SEC do not have a presence. The rumor is that the B1G would take both UNC and Duke to incentivize UNC to go B1G. Both are AAU member schools and are more aligned with Big Ten academics than any other option. What Texas Tech has going for it is booster Cody Campbell's ability to write large checks. I think TT would be willing to join the SEC at a reduced revenue split. But both Texas and A&M would push back. A&M beefed about the conference bringing in Texas and Oklahoma, but the brands overcame any dissent. ESPN's willingness to pay more for the additional inventory also helped. How would ESPN value adding teams in markets that are covered today? I hope CFB moves to a 24-team format as soon as possible to avoid a Super Conference and a Group of 8.

Texas Tech is the only team with the NIL to build a team that can compete in the playoff. I don't see any other Big 12 program being in that level of contention on a regular basis. competitive is good and fun.... but it does not make them a top tier conference. Also bowl records by conference are mostly pointless at this point.

Unlike Pete Rose, who got a lifetime ban, and still hasn't gotten into the baseball hall of fame.

The whole athletic department is being funded to a point where it doesn't matter if it's Lubbock Texas, there's gonna be a championship for every sport. Makes you question what the going rate for a top softball athlete is these days. When is badminton going to be on an ESPN affiliate?
