What I really mean is...I was not ready for the Baseball season to end, and I feel bad for the players on the baseball team as well. I thought that our lack of quality reliever depth could hurt us at the CWS, but since our top pitchers had done so well the last three weeks--I thought they were peaking.

They were, or more accurately....they did. (Before this last weekend)

We had a pitching letdown similar to last years disaster in the Eugene Regional; the pitchers who got us there did not have good days when it mattered. But then--that is Baseball, isn't it?

Between now and football season is a dead time for Oregon sports, but a great time to get other things done and get outside!

I so love the combined seasons of going from seeing a ton of winning football, then a six week break, and then a ton of winning Baseball at Oregon. We have great years ahead in both sports and TONS of winning games to enjoy.

In '23 and '24....we finished No. 12 in the nation, and we went into the Playoffs this year as the No. 11 National Seed. We have not got over the hump yet, but we are a pretty darn good program, thanks to Coach Waz.

In the last four years...only nine teams have made the Super-Regionals in three of the last four years out of just over 300 D1 Baseball programs. Thus to do so puts Our Beloved Ducks in the TOP 3% of all college baseball programs.

Well, we have some chopped liver later this week as TrackTown hosts the NCAAs!

Going 0 for 14 with runners in scoring position didn't give our pitchers any help either.

Texas is well coached, as are we.

The statement about " :...that is Baseball, isn't it?" shows me you are a true fan of the sport. Indeed when my best Duck buddy and his wife (both true fans of baseball) responded to my text about last nights game being a "really tough loss", he replied "Barb and I hope that the Dawgs beat the living snot out of Texas next week." I replied "I think they will, but as you well know, this is baseball you know." It can be a damn frustrating game to be sure.

Texas winning both CWS for this season would be a tragedy...

Dawgs came through big-time tonight against those arrogant Texas Longhorns. I don't know if this qualified as the snot-beating my great Duck buddy was hoping for, but I kept telling myself all game that this one, in my sentiments at least, was not only for the Dawgs but also for the Ducks.

Hopefully, Ducks Baseball will be back stronger than ever next year.

Collin Clarke becomes first big portal entry for Oregon baseball

Right-handed pitcher Collin Clarke entered the transfer portal on Saturday, according to MLB Draft scouting outlet Over-Slot Baseball. Clarke, a two-year starter for the Ducks, spent most of the 2026 season as the Saturday starter for Oregon.

He thrived at first in the weekend rotation, tossing at least six innings in six of his first eight starts. However, teams barreled him up often, especially toward the end of the season.

Clarke was demoted to the bullpen after a rough outing on the road against UCLA. The junior arm finished the season with a 4.92 ERA and made five appearances out of the bullpen to end the season. His fiery demeanor on the mound routinely irked Oregon's opponents, but Clarke backed it up with 151 strikeouts over his three-year career with the Ducks.

Clarke throws five pitches, but primarily uses a low-90s fastball and a slider with some decent movement. Despite a rough season in Eugene, Clarke has some professional potential and will have to decide this summer whether or not he will sign with an MLB organization or transfer for his senior season.

The news of Clarke's intention to leave the program marks the third departure for the Ducks this offseason, but the first with real playing time last season. Infielder Tyler Holley and catcher Blake Sandvik have also entered the portal

I am good with this departure, because even at his best… He gave up Home runs easily. But about midway through the season, teams had enough film on him and figured him out. They were hitting the heck out of him.

He was getting hit excessively on even during short reliever innings later on…

It frees up scholarship and NIL money for a new/better pitcher.
