“Mainly what drove my decision is the relationship I’ve developed with Coach Lanning,” Sabb said. “He’s been recruiting me since I was in the eighth grade. He has always been welcoming to me and my family. 

“The program is focused on the pursuit of a National Championship and I would like to be a part of that. I have also built a great relationship with Coach Ross (Douglas), and I trust in his vision for me as an Oregon Duck.”

Other programs that offered Sabb included Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

“My favorite thing about Oregon is the culture and family atmosphere,” Sabb said. “I like how supportive the team is of each other, I feel it’s going to be a good fit for me on and off the field.”

Sabb is the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of New Jersey. As a junior he caught 59 passes for 897 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added two more rushing scores and returned a kick and punt for a touchdown en route to a state championship. Sabb picked off four passes playing defense.

Oregon scored another key commitment on Friday as Glassboro (New Jersey) High School four-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb picked the Ducks. Sabb represents the third Top 100 recruit for Oregon in a three-day stretch. 

The three commitments have lifted the Ducks to the nation's No. 2 recruiting class in the country for the 2027 cycle, according to 247Sports.

In the Rivals National Rankings....Oregon is No. 3 in the nation and besides Xavier Sabb being offered by Oregon...he was also offered by Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, Ole Miss, USC, Penn State and Texas.

Rivals National Analyst Greg Biggins is High on Sabb.

“Sabb has one of the best athletic profiles in the country when you look at the multi-sport background, two-way snaps and his athletic traits. He’s a three year starter on the hoops team and plays above the rim. As a sophomore, he had personal best times of 10.69-100m, 22.01-200m and a 6’2″ high jump. He’s a legit high major prospect at receiver and safety and could conceivably get snaps on both sides of the ball. 

“Wide receiver has always been his favorite position and he had a solid junior season with 59 catches for 896 yards and 13 touchdowns. Shows dynamic playmaking ability after the catch and has the juice to score from anywhere on the field. Can go up and win 50-50 balls and contested catches and has high end body control.

Shows big play ability as a return man as well and has a natural feel for making guys miss and picking up chunks of yards where it looks like there’s not much there.

It has been impressive how Oregon has hit another gear since hiring Lanning. The men leading this University's athletic department are proving to be some of the best in the country.

If Oregon can secure another top 5 class this November, that will be 4 stacked on top of each other. That is dominance from the men leading this program. Huge respect to all of them, from Knight to the guy that drives the truck.

With this latest recruit Sabb and more to come, Oregon is in pole position to dominate the College gamefor the next 5-6 years.

At this point, the difference between winning a NC and elimination comes down to coaching and health. The talent is as good as any team, no longer an obstacle.

From here, IMO, it's all on Lanning and the rest of this staff. I am really hoping Lanning has developed the chops to take Oregon to the promise land. Super excited to find out

Coaching, health and hoping not to lose key backups to the transfer portal at the wrong time.

In the Peach Bowl the Ducks were down Whittington, Davison and Riggs due to injury and then lost Limar to the portal. Hughes has basically decided to portal since week 4.

So... Oregon went from 7 deep at runningback down to two with Hill and Harris. Hill is a wonderful change of pace back but not am every down guy and Harris was simply not up to the task.

The run game was actually going fairly well in the first matchup, ignore the total yards because sacks destroyed the rushing numbers that were respectable in the first match up against Indiana (without the sacks) and took that whole phase of the offense away.

Portal and injuries hurt there real bad.

Not saying that if the Ducks had those players they would have won but it would have been closer.

I have been among many who were disappointed by last year's Peach Bowl O-line performance. Will somebody please tell me who has been added to the line through the portal and recruiting? And what, if any, do you see improvement over last year's group?

The only portal OL addition was Michael Bennett III from Yale.

Yea, Lanning didn't hit the portal for O line or LB. Ducks can pull top talent in the portal. A reputation well earned by proven development at every position group.

It seems Lanning is comfortable with the talent on the team.
