College Football Playoff Committee Initial Top 25 - My Thoughts - Yours?
While I agree that Oregon still has a shot at the playoffs, I think they will have to win games in a more consistent/dominant fashion to impress the playoff committee. That means #8 will have to play the rest of the season like he did against USC, The run game and the O-Line will have to perform the way they have the past two games (5.6 and 4.9 YPC), and the defense will have to hold their opponents to 14-21 PPG.

So...Where ARE the NegaDucks We've Seen So Much Of?
See the post above, (No. 5) as you are new here and have not been through what the rest of us have with venting. And we have a rule against it because it has been such a problem in the past. What we see is normal behavior....it is human nature, and it is interesting to watch it play out, hence my observation.

Even discussing the negative on that is fine. This is a very astute group of people, but I have a hard time conveying the difference between discussing negative, versus going over-the-top negative and venting. We have a rule against venting No. 31, and suggest people read No. 31a, also, 31b especially, and 31d. My concern is that those who have great observations that are negative will not post, as they don't understand that I want the negative posts, but not the innovative insults and the venting. We've been through this before with the final year of Cristobal, and the year of losing to the Huskies twice....was quite a meltdown for some. Again negative is fine, as that is what we do in a forum. And I have certainly not only participated in posting negative, but made jokes in the process. You are a great example of posting both ways, and I appreciate that. It gives you much more credibility with your negative posts when you post positive along with them. And I understand that some years, like this one, we are going to have a ton more negative posts. It is the way it is, and I've tolerated a TON more than I prefer, but since they did not break the rules....I let them all stay. It was observation on my part about human nature, as being a moderator for thousands of posts--I've learned a ton about our tendencies over the years.

I am glad they are going to 24 teams, because they just can’t seem to get this right. Who you play has to mean something. The Indiana / Ohio State example is the perfect example. In my opinion, Ohio State should be above Indiana. Their body of work is much better and they beat Indiana head to head. The committee needs develop something like the RPI or NET from basketball. They need to consider SOS, Quad wins and losses, margin of victory (or loss), home or away, etc. They need to stop looking just at wins and losses.

Absolute farce of an initial CFP ranking. The tea leaves have been read. The tarot cards have been turned over. The kangaroo court made it clear that the college football landscape is not P4 and G6. It's P1 and G9. Only the SEC teams are allowed to lose games and not be penalized. If Georgia, Ole Miss, Bama, Texas and Kentucky lose a conference game, i wonder if they would fall out of the top 12? SEC teams, currently outside of the top 12, are readily positioned to move up by winning. The SEC may have multiple 9-3 teams make the CFP. Could certain, blue blood SEC teams get in with 8-4 records? 10-2 teams in BIG, BIG 12 and ACC may not make it in, unless they win their conference championship. ND will not get in if they lose to Miami. If BYU loses to Utah they may not make it in. I wonder if a 10-2 UCLA or Iowa would get in without being the conference champion? OBD's makng the BIG title game would not be enough. They would need to win out, then win the BIG title. Even winning out does not get them in the title game without help. Every game OBD's play the rest of the season is a playoff, single elimination game. GO DUCKS!

Solar, I'd like to think so, but ... Ranking Ohio State 12th doesn't help. How far will the Buckeyes drop if they lose at home to Oregon? And Michigan, Michigan State, and UW will not be wins over ranked opponents. A 9-3 Oregon is far from a sure thing. The only sure thing would be if chaos somehow sends the in-conference 8-2 Ducks to the championship game, and Oregon wins, securing the Big Ten's automatic bid. I don't think a 3-loss Oregon will be ranked ahead of 2-loss SEC teams ranked above Oregon that suffer a 3rd in-conference loss, and 3-loss South Carolina is currently ranked above Oregon. The committee's love for the SEC is apparent, and not unjustified.

CFP Rankings: Ducks No. 23
If this was next year's playoff format, we would be in! We all know the Ducks are not playing well as a team except in short bursts, but the individual physical talent is there. Oregon this year is not losing like it used to lose decades ago. LSU 2011 - Ducks got bulldozed by more physical linemen. Auburn 2010 - even if Dyer was down, Auburn was running it down their throats at the end of the game. Ohio St Rose Bowl 2009 - Terell Pryor running over defenders to get first downs. This year's problem is bits and pieces and lack of coordination - not getting pummelled by bigger stronger monsters. Oregon can turn a lot of it around by the post season - where ever they end up. By the time the regular season ends, I would think that if Oregon replayed any of the losses so far, they would win.

So...Where ARE the NegaDucks We've Seen So Much Of?
I don't think it is just losing, but how and why they are losing. This season's OC promotion, the offensive style with Cristobal, the Brady Hoke disaster will bring out a lot of posts and rightly so. But I totally agree that when things turn around (and they always do) that we should see the same peeps giving street cred for the comeback. Or else why are you here? It has been a tough year and the toughest game is next up. So even if the Ducks lose, if they can show they are improving the x's and o's, fighting hard, knowing their assignments, and showing pride and mojo in what they do, there should be some good posts supporting the cause. But on the other hand, if they are lost and totally unprepared like the Ok St game, then I can't expect too much from my fellow fishduck homies. Some of it is on them.

So what if people vent, and are more active following a loss? It’s called emotion and far more emotions (blowing off steam) happen following losses. You can pick apart a loss far easier than a win. More fun to win but there will be fewer interactions. Just normal behavior.
