  2. Raiola started playing well about the same time Brandon Smith entered the game and started making big runs. It’s amazing how a good running game can open up the passing game. Smith has the best vision out of all the RB’s on the team and he needs more playing time. I imagine if Davison and Hill’s injuries are serious then he will be RB1 and we could see some transfers this Spring.
  3. Another perspective from the Daily Emerald. Daily EmeraldOregon beats No. 20 Northwestern 34-26 in Halloween shoot...“I can’t say enough about how proud I am of this team,” Oregon quarterback Dylan Raiola said following Saturday’s 34-26 upset win over No. 20 Northwestern. Capturing the win wasn’t easy from the start
  4. Don’t tear up those tickets to Indianapolis just yet! We just experienced an October stretch that felt like a certified nightmare. The team felt like it was in chaos, the ship was rudderless, and all that was left was to smack the proverbial iceberg! Now, I'm NOT saying everything is fixed, far from it. But watching college football this weekend showed me that there is no "unbeatable" team out there. Miami BARELY survived UNC. Yes, Miami is undefeated, but they have yet to play a ranked opponent!!! Oregon’s win over Northwestern, combined with a little Big Ten chaos, has left the door cracked open for a run at the Big Ten title game. At 3-2 in conference play, the Ducks are still mathematically alive. The margin for error is exactly zero, but the roadmap is clear. Here is what Oregon needs to do to keep the dream alive: 1. Beat the Buckeyes The path starts with a only a simple task: defeating Ohio State on their own turf next weekend. Thanks to USC, Ohio State now has a blemish in conference play. If Oregon pulls off the upset, they will jump the Buckeyes in the standings and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. 2. Run the November Gauntlet Beating Ohio State means nothing if the Ducks stumble afterward. Oregon must win out against Michigan, Michigan State, and Washington to finish the regular season at 7-2 in Big Ten play. 3. Let the "Strength of Schedule" Math Do the Work If Oregon finishes 7-2, they will likely find themselves in a multi-team tiebreaker scenario with programs like Indiana, USC, or Ohio State. Oregon's grueling schedule becomes their secret weapon. The Big Ten's tiebreaker heavily weighs the cumulative conference win percentage of a team's opponents. Because the Ducks have played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, their metric profile gives them a massive statistical edge to win a tiebreaker and potentially schedule that Indy trip. The climb is steep, we don't have much to pin "hope" on right now, and interim play-caller Jay Johnson's newly energized offense will have to be perfect. However, We don't need to be first, we just need to be good enough to get there. Maybe, just maybe, this October nightmare will be something that OBD wake up from and realize that they control their own destiny.
  5. Miami will face their FIRST ranked opponent of the season next week against ND. Their First!! ESPN puts their schedule difficulty at 60. By comparison, Oregon's is 13th. The Ducks have a MOUNTAIN to overcome to sniff the CFP....but as we all know, anything can happen in college football.
  6. Today

  7. The offensive play calling improved this week. Ducks defense left a lot of receivers uncovered. Hope that gets fixed in a hurry.
  8. Ohio St has great receivers, powerful RBs and a stout O line. The Ducks have a lot of future NFL players on defense, so that matchup can hold up. Can the Ducks move the ball on them? Maybe. Ohio St no longer has a great pass rush or D line like they used to. I think Oregon has a chance. As for knocking teams out of the playoffs, so many top teams are either losing or almost losing, there really is no front runner(s). This is the new age of college football. Most division games will be tough to win. Get used to it. It applies to everybody. I think who makes the playoffs will be who looks good the last week or two, regardless of record.
  9. Columbus didn't give up the ship, and Dan isn't ready to go down with the ship. Last time Dylan was in Columbus, he was this close to a Husker Do and having a great Day. Rally around the good Raiola, and kick the ship out of the Buckeyes before saying: 'Goodbye, Columbus, we're heading home to mash That School Up North.' 👍👌😍 9-3 playoff-worthy? This season, you never know.
  10. Gimme 5 Takeaways from a great comeback win today. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/10/31/oregon-football-ducks-comeback-win-northwestern-takeaways/92542158007/
  11. Ohio State is favored by 10.5. Vegas is saying Ohio State 30 Oregon 17. This follows the trend of the past 3 years. Max protect among other devices to attack Ohio State downfield is an absolute minimum. And the only way I see OBD winning is by striking downfield like Lanning went after the Buckeyes in Eugene. I also recommend 5 guys on the line of scrimmage on defense. Force Ohio State to pass and come with simulated pressure and as lethal a blitz package DL can devise. Of course, pressure on whoever plays QB is an absolute must-OBD just don't play very good pass defense. My opinion of course. As far as I am concerned, DL can do whatever he wants. He runs the ship and I am not about to mutiny. I just hope he is aggressive and gives Ohio State more than they are used to seeing. Ohio State has been more physical than OBD the past 3 years. OBD will have to neutralize that by hook and crook. But Vegas is seeing what I have seen since February. Our trend against elite teams that is.
  12. Unfortunately, the Buckeyes' loss in LA means OBD will not be playing a top-5 team in Columbus. I was hoping for an Ohio State win to give the 3-loss Ducks a shot at a top-5 team in Columbus. But the SC win is now a better win for Oregon; 2-loss SC will be ranked in the AP Poll and by the PO Committee. Unfortunately, the OK State Cowboys lost a shootout on the road against Iowa State. Boise State is in a battle vs. Texas State. If Oregon can win the Day in Columbus, it will still be a B1G win and help the cause for the rest of this season and next season. AP Poll - I think Miami stays at No. 1. Miami is now 1-5 in its last six games against UNC. With the win, the Canes, when ranked No. 1, have a 29-game win streak against unranked teams. PO Committee No. 1 - I'll place my bet on 1-loss Georgia. Where will UCLA be ranked? And also Indiana with another close call? Every Saturday is an adventure. No team is safe. Someone, please clone today's Dillon, who was not the clown we watched against Illinois. Beat the Bucks!
  13. Going to a yo-yo, everybody, Going to a yo-yo, come on now!☹️😍🤬❤️
  14. Buckeyes now have two losses, and a third loss to Oregon would keep them out of the Playoffs. As if we did not have enough incentive?
  15. I won't argue that overcoming adversity builds character, but it is still better not to suck in the first place. What is character anyway for 18 to 23 year old young men who play a sport for a living? Are you putting in the time and effort to get all your work in, like classes, physical training, learning the playbook, and staying out of trouble? The players execute the plays. I feel that this kind of adversity is growing the coaching staff most of all.
  16. In addition to the play calling helping Raiola, it also helped the O line. The new OC seems to be focussing on what this offensive unit can deliver. I also like that the backup RBs got into the game.
  17. I drive a school bus in Portland in the hood up and down 122nd. I see the worst of the worst drivers every day. What I can tell you all is that bad driving is not unique. It is quite prevalent. That anyone even cared is news to me. I won't say what I think should happen to those who speed, cut in and out of lanes, blow red lights/stop signs, etc. because I would get kicked out of this forum. What I will say is that who choose to drive that way should get arrested and prosecuted. And they should not be allowed to drive again - ever if I had my way. If they stay on the team or not is not my call. But for just one offense, I think a suspension sounds right. If the behavior continues, then release them from the team.
  18. We looked like another team (or the team we expected) in the second half. So good to see the adjustment and the downfield passing. Brandon Smith looks really good and both lines got better as the the progressed I saw Akili throwing on the sidelines neat the end of first half. I'd guess the first offensive drive of second half may have saved Railoa from being replaced. Such timing. The difference in crowd noise and attitude was palpable as we started to move the ball downfield rather than continual bubble screens. It's been a tough season, This was a great game!
  19. We looked like the Ducks the last 20 minutes of this game!
  20. I tend to agree that some of the comments or expectations here are a bit harsh.. Hamptons bald face lies after the fact concern me the most. I do not Condone, nor to I believer their behavior to that different to many teens today and in the past Im not really sure it is fair to punish them and condemn them more just because they earn a lot of money. Many of these player as still just kids. I will defer to Dan who knows more than I of situation to do what is best... should he not.. then the future will likely be short for him. I do think the Samples event is somewhat a mitigating factor in this. Just my opinions. I do understand and respect others opinions here and happy to learn more .
  21. It seemed to me that rather suddenly in the second half, finally.. the light went on. The players and coaches played to win (not so much in first half) the excitement and confidence grew We start moving downfield instead of to the side or backwards The defense locked in. And the already loud crowd... suddenly amped up to the the decibels which I remember sitting next to the speaker at Who concerts in late 60s It's all about energy and confidence sometimes. Go Ducks.. I think this was a very important 4th quarter in our season and future!!!
  22. With a true frosh QB who was stymied by SC tonight, the Buckeyes may be po'd, but can they make it matter on the field? Stop the run, win the game. Wisconsin, ranked for the first time in years, handled it well, right? A 30-0 beatdown by a Hawkeye team that showed no O last week vs. Minnesota. OK State lost in a defensive battle in Ames, Iowa, 51-49. Who is the Cyclones' OC? 😁 Miami and Indiana both escaped today. This is the Season of the Witch.
  23. I believe a lesson can be learned about giving a QB time to evaluate instead of react to pressure constantly. Even Dante Moore was dealing with that problem. Julian Sayin has been criticized about his play at Ohio State, but his replacement struggled all game under the duress. He continually left fundamentals behind-throwing off his back foot, drifting away from the line of scrimmage, failed to follow through on passes because his footwork was sloppy. Something Sayin and Dante Moore have struggled with against really damn good defenses. Constant pressure in their faces, less time to process information and making decisions on a quicker clock. Raiola has faced it all year as well. Going Max Protect-a simple solution to a serious problem we have had against elite defenses (and this year not very good defenses) is an option that limits the offense in ways that coordinators are loathe to implement. The guy the entire football world claimed was a terrible play caller installed a simple solution to a serious problem and voila! Raiola was a brand new QB. The other, just as risky proposition, is to develop routes that require the kind of precision that even NFL QBs struggle with-throwing the WR open (before he makes a break on his route-hoping he gets to the window that is open for barely a second). That should be a staple of a system if and only if QBs and WRs practice that constantly. Back Shoulder throws like Michael Penix and Fernando Mendoza executed damn near flawlessly come to mind. It requires constant calibrating and a hell of a lot of trust. Play caller Johnson drilled the max protect, diagnosed the kinds of routes Stewart and Moore would excel at and went to work on a defense less capable of putting pressure on Raiola. It will work to a degree next week, but other tactics may assist: rolling the pocket, going under center and running more bootleg pass schemes, screens, quick fade routes, and yes, patterns that offer quick windows Raiola can throw to before the receivers break down and make their cut. Lanning actually mentioned they were working on these things without saying it. He specifically said they were working on processes that offer opportunities and it looked good, but they weren't sure how soon they would get results. Plenty of fans called that word salad. Saw it on Facebook, X (twitter) and other platforms. It seems the only time Duck Nation has faith in Lanning is when his players execute. For instance-you don't coach botched snaps, fumbles and other drive killers. That is called poor execution. In Duck Nation (and I am sure Buckeye nation tonight among other fan bases) that is the coach's fault. Scott Reed over at Duck Sports Central directly addressed this issue just a couple of days ago. He mentioned having high standards and patience aren't mutually exclusive things. A lesson Duck Nation and other fan bases could use to improve their piece of mind. The future is now. Not tomorrow. Not in an hour. Right now. My mom used to tell me the past is the present in the future. I hated that phrase. But it is handy when you are stressing your butt off about things you can't necessarily control. The reason I believe sports has overtaken all other television and some other forms of entertainment is because the drama is real. If you watched the Indiana, Minnesota game at all-nobody had an idea how that game would end. It was stressful for both fan bases. But it was real. The only thing both could do was let it play out the way it was going to play out. I was rooting for Minnesota. It would have helped our cause. But I wasn't angry at Minnesota for the loss. It is what it is. OBD did their job this week. They got off the matt, kept plugging and turned things around. One play at a time. That is what this season is now. One play at a time. One play isn't a season, doesn't win or lose the game-a series of plays (decisions) do. I Let the game play out the way it is supposed to. One play at a time. The more this season has played out, the more I have focused on that.
  24. I don't feel good about OSU losing. They are going to be upset they lost and feel like their backs are against the wall to stay in the playoff race.
  25. I think Lanning has learned not to play with his food when comes to coaching hires and better micromanage the lapses in intensity and focus. Can't let that stuff slide for a second.
  26. Ohio St looking as bad as I've ever seen. Makes me nervous about next week.
  27. LOL, this aged like spoiled milk. Chip is good, but no Cig. His scheme+former Beaver QB < struggling OBD with twice-fired OC and jekyll & hyde QB.
