  2. No Way OBD should recruit and overpay this guy. The TE room is in good shape, and the money is needed for a capable OC, the D-line and O-line guys from the portal, and to hold on to the talented youngsters. Not going to shoot you, but bend over and assume the position! 🤬
  3. As a positive, the wealth of youth on defensive is definitely a compliment to Chris Hampton's development as a Defensive Coordinator. The one internal hire Lanning got right!
  4. I'm trying NOT to look past the next two games because OBD have shown that they need to focus....but, this is some interesting news out of Columbus that makes me think of a movie line: "So you're saying there's a chance??" https://247sports.com/college/ohio-state/article/ryan-day-julian-sayin-injury-luke-fahey-291556687/
  5. I think by the end of the season it will be a foregone conclusion that Lanning fully intends to bring on a transfer to add competition to the room. He's done it every season he's been here.
  6. "Portends well for the future in the back 7 at least." Not a criticism of this comment, just a reality check: the Ducks like so many programs seem to lose guys who want to enter the portal. Hope all those guys are still in Eugene in 2027.
  7. Lift Your Steins to Will - Mid-season COY - https://www.yardbarker.com/college_football/articles/kentuckys_will_stein_rightfully_named_the_midseason_coach_of_the_year/s1_13132_44453092?utm_source=mb&utm_medium=email&mb_edition=20261021&mb_loc=left_r
  8. Maryland fired their coach today. The Ducks were a recruiting finalist for QB Malik Washington who visited Eugene. So, my thought? Way too early to be considering transfer QBs when it is only half-way thru the season.
  9. Don't shoot the messenger. I promise I am not trying to rage bait anyone given the season Bryce Underwood has had. Before you chew my head off, consider what buzz was surrounding a one, Dante Moore, in the fall of 2023 (Bust, Started Too Early, Overrated, Etc...). While it would take some strategic staff changes to reclaim our status as QBU, We have already proven the ability to take on reclamation projects and turn them into top tier talent. Let's hear your thoughts! Autzen ZooCould Bryce Underwood be Oregon's next former 5-star recl...Dante Moore returning to Oregon for this season answered the question at quarterback in the short term, but this season was always going to be about potentially
  10. As Santa Rosa Duck said, the Oregon-Northwestern game will only be available on Peacock. Yep, this has got my blood boiling. I have Amazon Prime ($139.00 yearly) or 11.58 per month, Netflix (for my wife) $26.99 a month and YouTube TV for $82.99 a month. Add another $124 per month for Comcast internet/wifi, this adds up to a mind-blowing $245.56 per month. I'm sure I'm not the only Duck fan who feels this way. So frustrating.
  11. Time to buy stock in a glass slipper company.
  12. In addition to Chip’s demand for good blocking, spread offense and speed, what also made his bubble and tunnel screens work was opposing defenses were not conditioned for his uptempo offense.
  13. CBS Sports Mid-season All-American team is B1G. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-all-america-team-cbs-sports-2026-midseason/?eid=c7d8647c6247db8d08c59fe44bc30380a147aa90b9e33099045cd46ddc6a485b&ftag=SNL-04-10aaa0b&ET_CID=
  14. Thank you for this timely update. We all hope Dante will be able to play again this season. If not, it's the D that carries OBD PO hopes. Hope Oregon can keep the talented young players on board.
  15. Today

  16. There is a narrative out there in the press that everyone hates this and it's only been done for money. I'm not going to say money isn't a driving factor, but that doesn't mean it's a bad decision. These purist press folks are in an echo chamber. There are so many reasons to love a 24 team playoff as I've talked about before, and I think a lot of people get it. But no matter, everyone will come around to it eventually.
  17. We've got a great thing going with Ify, Offord and Finney. They are the best group of cover DBs in the country.
  18. Portends well for the future in the back 7 at least. The line will need to develop the younger guys, and I suspect the portal will be a big race this year for us on the D line. Not to mention the O line?
  19. They worked because defenses were still learning how to defend the spread and the fastest players were on offense not defense. Today you can have the numbers match or advantage at the snap, but by the time the ball get's to the WR it's a different story. I always go back to the fact that in theory the triple option always has a numbers advantage but nobody runs it anymore because it can still be beat consistently with modern defenses.
  20. FBS opponents: 5-1 – Boise State 4-2 – Oklahoma St (lost by 14 at Tulsa, by 3 at Houston) 6-1 – USC 6-0 – UCLA 5-2 – Nebraska (lost by 3 each to Indiana/Oregon) 26-6 Wonder how this compares to other FBS opponent schedules for teams at or near Top 25?
  21. USC viewership 2.0 million - Noon – NBC – San Jose St 1.32M – 6:00 – Fox – Fresno St 1.72M – 12:30 – CBS – at Rutgers 5.0M – 4:30 – NBC – Oregon 2.56M – 4:30 – NBC – Washington 2.92M – 4:30 – NBC – at Penn St
  22. Rewatching the game really brought that out, as I felt going into this season--that it would be the more experienced defense ever to return at Oregon. That has turned out to NOT be the case, and I'll share my observations, and if you have more to add--please do. The secondary has been playing much better, but it leaves me breathless with the amount of young players in there. Davon Benjamin (No. 5) plays a lot giving Finney a break at nickel back, and he has made some great plays as a true freshman. Speaking of a true freshman--Devin Jackson, (No. 22) has been playing safety, and while he has made some mistakes, he has also made some great plays and is clearly a talent on the rise. Then we look at little-used sophomore Na' eem Offord, who is now a starting corner! There were times last year that when he played a little--he got burned. Yet the coaches let his 5-Star talent get playing time to improve, and he has. Some notable plays recently, and yet he hardly has much experience at all. When Benjamin is in for Finney....we have three of the five defensive backs who are either a little-used sophomore in the past, or they are true freshmen! This is pretty extraordinary considering the story that it appeared to be. We recruited some semi-experienced portal DBs who have been passed by these underclassmen, and thus portends good defenses in the future. We have had a ton if youth playing at Linebacker too. Little used sophomore (Last year) Nasir Wyatt (No. 31) is getting an expanded role, and we see Jr. No. 11, Dyan Williams in there often. We also got a great tackle-for-loss by No. 13, Gavin Nix, as he played some LB moments. Much more youth playing on defense that most realize!
  23. Afaik, Akili Smith Jr. has always been mentioned as a pro-style pocket passer not a dual threat QB. Unless his recent development in Eugene has changed his style I'm imagining that he's more Dante Moore rather than Bo Nix. Even his 247 scouting report mentions this: https://247sports.com/player/akili-smith-jr-46134755/ That being said, I do agree that a dual threat QB works better in this offense.
  24. I think Lanning has been trying to think outside the box with going for it on 4th down and two point conversions. He should save those plays for desperate times and spring Akili Smith out of the box with some RPOs periodically and just see what happens. I'd trust that more than running backs handing off to each other out of the wildcat or five yard passes on 3rd and 9.
  25. A B1G QB Mess - In the old (Ryan) days, Louisville QB Lincoln Kienholz would come off the bench to replace Julian Sayin. Now, it's true freshman Luke Fahey who looked lost against Indiana. Sayin is out 'indefinitely,' and the loss at Texas is no longer that great a loss, and with Texas' remaining schedule, it is likely to look worse. Ohio State is off in Week 8, but the remaining schedule is the B1G's most difficult. The Buckeyes play SC in LA in Week 9; will Ohio State be able to score enough points to win this game? Which Oregon backup QB shows up? Good Dylan, or bad Dylan? Will the O-line be able to keep Raiola upright? He is not a dual-threat QB. Will Dante Moore play again this season? To date, Oregon has played the 16th most difficult schedule in CFB, with the remaining schedule ranked the 20th most difficult. $3 million-a-year QB Bryce Underwood has been benched in favor of freshman Tommy Carr. This week against Indiana, we'll see how Carr performs starting against a top-ten opponent. UCLA QB Ty Dieffenbach, who resembles a baby giraffe when he runs, sealed the deal against the Ducks and played well against Wisconsin. The Badgers shut down the Bruins' robust run game. How will Ty fare playing in Minneapolis and Ann Arbor in November? Penn State QB Rocco Becht and his former Iowa State pals are not up to playing in the Power 2. Will the B1G have more than two teams in this season's playoffs? In addition to Indiana, Iowa, Ohio State, UCLA, Northwestern, and USC, two-loss Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska, and Wisconsin are still in the PO hunt. UCLA has the easiest remaining schedule, with USC the only ranked team left to play. Iowa, the second easiest. The SEC is eating its own. The B1G is odds on to do the same down the stretch.
  26. Oregon, Illinois set for 5th matchup in series history https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/10/21/oregon-football-analyzing-series-history-vs-illinois-fighting-illini/92354638007/
