Marsh Duck - Quick Quacks Oregon v Boise State
I have serious reservations on Drew Meringer's play calling abilities. Both those 4th down plays were absolutely atrocious.

Very disappointing 1st quarter. I hope DL wakes them up.

I'll be interested to see how well the OL meshes right out of the gate.

Oregon Running Back Jordon Davison Will Miss Game Time with Fall Camp Injury
Injuries are the one thing that can derail OBD's season. I think the RB room has enough talent to make up the difference until he comes back. But other groups like the defensive line where proven production from the bench is more harrowing.

Air Quality Index Eugene
It's getting pretty nasty up here in Seattle as well.

Is SC a Rival?
Always felt like USC was actively trying to avoid a regular slate of games with Oregon the last 15 years or so. They just didn't want to be embarrassed repeatedly. Seems like a great time to pull up this goodie again:

Too Good Not To Share
Assuming that figure is correct, a 22 year average age is still quite old in today's college football game. Someone posted a chart in one of the other threads about average returning age and all the B10 contenders are basically around 20 years old....so that extra 2 years last season is actually a pretty big difference in maturity and gained football knowledge.

Chip Kelly and Northwestern
I'd argue he might be looking for a spot to just quietly finish out his career while being paid well and then retire, he's 62 years old after all. Northwestern will have lower expectations, lower pressure to win right away, lower recruiting pressure, etc. If things go well, he wraps up his career in a few years when he hits 65 then takes a short flight back to New Hampshire and retire. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens.

SEC Media Days So Far
Sumrall and Florida should be interesting to watch and see what happens over the next year or two. I don't follow Florida or their fanbase really at all so I don't know if he'll be under immense pressure to win right away or if there's patience for him as he rebuilds the program.

Fox Crader Notes, Winning in the West, and SAD Tiers?
The times I saw Fox Crader play I thought he looked pretty solid. In particular he seemed much more mobile than Isaiah World and Alex Harkey, especially moving laterally. Even at the tackle spot there's such a thing as being too large since faster DEs can cause problems if you're just too slow.

Marsh Duck - Should Oregon Move Away from Runningback by Committee?
I do see the benefit of running by committee per David's main points (keeping legs fresh during a long season, limiting opportunities for injury, keeping players from transferring through playing time, etc.) and I think it should stay that way with one caveat: more recognition by coaches to leave the "hot hand" in instead of cycling him out as a matter of procedure. If it's a critical/difficult game like with Indiana where Davidson was the only one making headway, leave him in. Not sure if the position coach or the OC makes those calls when it comes to substitutions but one or the other should take that into more consideration.

Will Sorsby Continue the Cam $cam?
It's not enough to "mutually part ways". That case needs to be appealed and overturned otherwise it becomes historical precedent to allow others to try and snake their way through without any punishment.

Did Utah's Private Equity Deal, $500 Mil, Cause These Layoffs?
Utah seriously screwed themselves. Private equity is indeed the devil.
