  2. Well, it's really anybody's guess, isn't it? Neb 28 - 9 [that 9 is most likely the result of one FG and one TD with a missed 2PAT] 0 TO 1 Sack 107 YP It seems as though my prior loftier predictions somehow always seem to jinx the Ducks. So, I'm hoping for consistency in correctly predicting the outcomes for this game; and I jinx Nebraska this time.
  3. That throw to DAK was a great throw into a pretty narrow window barely out of reach. They don't have a lot of practice time together. It was a very good throw.
  4. The Beavs are 4-0 in their weight class and have destroyed their G6 opponents, putting up an absurd number of points on offense and playing solid defense. The losses to No. 20 Houston and No. 10 Texas Tech could have gone either way. Oregon State is this season's best G6 story. OSU has a decent shot at winning at Fresno and at Boise, and if this happens, taking the G6 PO spot. A remarkable turnaround under a guy who has never been a head coach, a QB transfer from Mercer, and a 3-star frosh WR who, to date, has put up better stats than Mr. Jeremiah Smith. Wazzu is floundering, but this OSU team would have finished in the top 3rd of the B12. Next season's Civil War game could be very interesting.
  5. Probably, but what an accomplishment. If Beavs make the PO this state would light up for sure.
  6. You may have gotten your wish. Oregon to start Brock Thomas at QB: Ducks bench Dylan Raiola as CFP hopes hang in balance - CBS Sports
  7. CBS is speculating Thomas will start. Oregon to start Brock Thomas at QB: Ducks bench Dylan Raiola as CFP hopes hang in balance - CBS Sports
  8. Glad you asked . . . The series is ugly: 8 games" Huskers 6 W's Largest margin: Neb 63 in '85 to our logo. Definition of a paycheck game ("pay" attention PSU) Ducks by 8 in '53 (I remember it well, pretty sure someone had to change my pants afterwards) (maybe in '85 also) Longest winning streak: Huskers 5, Ducks looking to make it 2!! So, I'll bite Ducks 17 - 14 1 TO 2 Sacks 179 p yds
  9. With that said this might be the game they get back.
  10. Oregon was the last ranked team Nebraska defeated. Since then, Nebraska has lost 32 games against ranked opponents. The game was in Lincoln. Helfrich started going for two early on and never stopped. OBD lost 35-32. IMO, it's not much different than the game of chess. If you don't play for the endgame at the start, if you make risky moves early on, you will lose to any half-decent player. 8-0 vs. 7-0? Big whoop. No metric justified the decision to go for two against UCLA after the first score. If you do not play the odds at the start, it may come back to bite you. Not every time, but often enough not to press your luck. Dan has risked too much this season with a lesser offense than he has coached before, and the rewards have not justified the risk. This team is not going to ipso facto outscore competent opponents; especially behind a backup QB. Sorry to mix metaphors, but you have to know the cards you hold and when to hold them and when to fold them. Neuter Nebraska!
  11. With playoffs expanding I think this would be a great time to convert FCS games to purely exhibitions. No counting scores or stats. Treated them like glorified Spring Games. Let the fans gather and get rowdy feel like footballs back in early fall but also let your starters maybe just play a few series to work off rust then empty the bench and let the 3rd and 4th string eat. It's somewhat silly how the offense is clearly having problems but the seasons stats are inflated by an 84-0 score against Portland St. Teams would still make money filling the house, Fans would still be entertained and excited about the new season. Stats wouldn't be inflated and hiding problems and starters would have more in the tank and less wear and tear come playoff time.
  12. I've been saying this since Ok St. Set up the OL for success with plays they can handle. To me, this is the biggest part of the OC being MIA both pregame planning and in game adjustments. Unfortunately Lanning has turned coaching at Oregon into a training on the job destination instead of a destination job. It is what it is this year but hopefully coaches get upgraded to what they need to be after the season.
  13. JJ, thank you for your weekly reports of the college football match ups. This Forum member wants to let you know that it is greatly appreciated. Who would have thought that by week #7 that OBD's would not be relevant in the CFP landscape. Very hard to digest the possibilty that all the hopes and dreams of the 2026 season may be crash landing tomorrow night. Sigh! I am still optimistic that the Ducks can turn this around and we will see the NEW Ducks and exciting Duck offense this Saturday night. I have supported and loved OBD's since I moved to Oregon in 1984. There were some very pitiful and lean years until KW pic sixed the Ducks past the dreaded dogs 30 years ago. That play was the beginning of the arrival and rise of OBD's. And on a brighter note the beginning of the fusky decline...... This Saturday the Ducks need a KW type hero to ignite a turn around for OBD's. I wonder who that will be? GO DUCKS.........
  14. Didn't we already have a Coach who went for two all the time and then had to back that off because he realized he was putting himself in a bad position on a regular basis. The difference between a great team that wins national championships and a great team that never quite gets there is the small things. Clock management, when to go for it on fourth down or instead play field position, when to go for two, ect. The great coaches seem to not gamble unless they have to not because they want to be cute or impose their will.

  16. It's Lannings version of Cristobal up the middle run.
  17. Years ago, Steve Martin had a bit in one of his stand up comedy acts where he said something about him being the quarterback, but that he like to punt on first down... just to keep the other team totally off balance.
  18. I would absolutely like to see the statistical data on that. I have a feeling your statement is likely correct. However, some coaches are much better at deciding when to go for it and when to not. So a breakdown by individual coaches would be really interesting to look at.
  19. Great to see this actually moving forward. And it sounds very likely that we will be dumping the rather worthless conference championship game, which is definitely the right move. Also, having the opening two rounds played on home field sites is absolutely the right decision. Teams, and fans, with the best record should stop being punished with a so-called neutral site. I like 24 teams. That's means about 19% (24/124) of all qualified teams will have a shot at the title --- Which is close to the same as in college basketball... 18% (64/363). 24 teams opens it up a bit, but doesn't dilute it.
