Nice Work
The defense is elite. But even the D started to play with less intensity down the stretch. I get it if they became a little discouraged.
-
Nice Work
I agree that we HAVE to protect the edges better but having a QB that cant hit a 5 yard pass to a WIDE OPEN receiver well you're not going to win games.

Good call. But with any kind of offense, the D has played well enough to win the last three games.

Coach Meh'
It's Meh' responsibility to coach this offense. There is no improvement week to week. He has done nothing to make this offense better. He needs to have walking papers in hand now. Get him a flight out of O'Hare and call him an Uber

Coach Meh'
I don't mind Lanning's schtick but he's clearly an average coach and maybe subpar CEO given the money and facilities. The utter lack of fight by our Ducks shows strong indications of talented dudes who are front runners and this kind never do well when punched in the mouth. So I'm fine with Lanning but I think any number of coaches would do as good or better with the same NIL and facilities.

The defense has played well enough to win the last three games. As to coaching, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken spit. 🤮 I should have turned the game off in the 1st Q when Johnson strolled out of bounds instead of putting his head down and trying to make a 1st down. Have to cut Raiola and find an athletic QB who can make up for bad OL play.

Nice Work
Playing the rest of the season with without Drew being replaced immediately only makes it worse for the rest of the season. it critical that this team regroup now with a change.

Confessions of a Jock Sniffer: I Sold Everyone on a Five-Year Title Plan Lanning Never Made
We bought the five-year hype, swallowed the corporate PR, and now we're staring at a multi-million-dollar dumpster fire in year five. When Dan Lanning took over the Oregon Ducks program, I became his loudest evangelist. I spent years selling a narrative to fellow writers, friends, and college football pundits, constantly telling anyone who would listen to give Lanning five years to build his culture, stack his recruits, and develop class after class so we would be competing for a national title in year five. I drove that timeline myself and convinced everyone it was the gospel blueprint. Now, here we are in year five, and the product on the field is falling completely short. We sat through the transition years acknowledging Mario Cristobal's leftover pieces and bought into the long-term investment, but I have to own it: I was the chief card-carrying jock sniffer who bought and sold the hype hook, line, and sinker. Fast forward to year five. With an $11 million annual salary, a roster backed by Phil Knight and heavy-hitting boosters funding $40 to $50 million into the program, and preseason expectations pinning us as the national championship contender at number two, what has Lanning actually delivered? A massive regression. When you are pulling in top-tier recruiting classes and backed by a bottomless war chest of booster money, regression in year five isn't a "rebuilding phase"—it's a systemic coaching failure. Let’s stop pretending this is a gentle college football laboratory where young coaches get a multi-year grace period to learn on the job. This is high-stakes corporate business. When you pay a head coach elite-tier money, you expect an elite-tier product that commands the field from snap to whistle. Instead, we are looking at brutal losses, no path to the playoff, and an offense that looks completely out of sorts. The Offensive Line and Scheme CollapseThe most glaring disaster of this fifth year is the trenches, specifically across the offensive line. Year after year, the hallmark of elite Oregon football was physical dominance up front. Right now? We are seeing stagnant blocking schemes, poor execution, and zero continuity. A'lique Terry is working with his own underperforming line without the benefit of experienced portal transfers to steady the ship, but the failure goes deeper. Drew Mehringer lacks the maturity and fortitude required as a play-caller. As we saw against Illinois, the moment our patched-together line establishes a rhythm on the ground—averaging five yards a pop on the first drive—Mehringer completely abandons the run game to force deep shot balls, and random trick plays with zero sequencing. Contrast that with Illinois calmly pounding out eight straight runs to punch in a touchdown to set the tone at the start of the second half. Mehringer's erratic, undisciplined play-calling leaves an already historically bad offense spinning backward and drops us to a disastrous 4-3 record. A Discount Coaching Staff on a Billion-Dollar BudgetYou cannot run a multi-million-dollar athletic enterprise designed to compete for national titles while filling out your offensive staff with bargain-bin résumés. Lanning hasn't surrounded himself with high-profile assistant coaches who match the financial investment of the roster. We are relying on position groups—specifically pointing out the glaring resume gaps across our offensive staff units—that simply lack the elite pedigree demanded by this level of competition. When you miss out on hosting a home playoff game and get bounced early, it burns millions of dollars in playoff payouts, ticket sales, and home-field revenue. This isn't just a scoreboard failure; it's a financial hemorrhage. Rolling Heads is the Only OptionAthletic director Rob Mullens will have no choice but to step in and force Lanning to roll heads. The fanbase and the financial backers didn't pour record-shattering funds into this program to watch a regression in year five. Patience is dead. The multi-year grace period is over. Lanning needs to realize that if he wants to survive the pressure cooker in Eugene, he has to go out and hire actual football dudes who know how to scheme, coach, and win when the lights are brightest. Right now, the product on the field isn't championship football—it's an embarrassing expensive pile of hot garbage.

Coach Meh'
Nobody's season is truly comparable. The reality is our QB is done. That's #1. OL is trash and thats #2. Im not saying we dont need another OC because we do. Im saying you cant even see if its growth like Hamp because he has nothing to work with. Raiola misses a ton of reads and passes.

NC State just fired the head coach. If Lanning doesn't have the fortitude to do the obvious without hesitation...

If it's not clear now that Mehringer and possibly Terry need to be relieved of their duties, then I don't know what to say. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose some of our best players to the portal after the season.

I’m afraid you’re right. DL has made some terrible coaching hires, I think. I actually think much of the problem is between the ears. I have said it before. Something is just off. I’m not in the locker room so I can’t even guess. But there’s almost a feeling of indifference on the sideline. I don’t know. Just guessing. And frustrated.

We just got beat and the Illinois fans understood the situation. We aren't worth rushing the field for.

This was the worst loss in Coach Lanning’s career and it’s not even close. And we are not done yet…

Coach Meh'
He need to make a change now and then after the season go spend the money.

Coach Meh'
Coach Dillingham found a way to win at ASU. Same with Chip Kelly. Coach Meh’ is an anchor around this offense’s neck.

No way we see Dante Moore again this season.

RES IPSA LOQUITUR - 🤬🤬🤬 A waste of a good defense. For pity's sake, find an athletic, dual-threat QB.

He'll change it. Just not midseason

OC has to go now or we lose players and recruits. If he doesnt, I question Dan's coaching.
