The true backups were in most of the second half, I wouldn't read any more into it than our opponents score in our first round playoff game last year. In the first half they were dominant on defense, and the QB Maiava put up an 89% completion rate game. I do think some of that was San Jose not dealing well with the heat and humidity, they didn't have any explosiveness on either side of the ball. Certainly there is a steep drop-off in talent from the starters to the backups at USC, but I expect USC has taken a bigger jump this off season than most expected. Will they close the gap with us? Probably a little bit, but we'll have to wait and see.
