What Are Lanning's Options On Offense Moving Forward?
No playoff for us this year... That door is shut at this point.

Report: UCLA QB Nico Iamaleava Expected to Miss Remainder of Season with Knee Injury
Extremely sorry for the kid. However, while I think that they are good, I certainly do not think that they are great. To play a team that coughed up seven turnovers, while UCLA only scored 17 points, and barely won by two, doesn't exactly impress me very much.

There are been times where it was MUCH worse, especially before all the rules, and as I was learning the craft. But one thing does bug me; you are a great poster Kamikaze Kid, who is here giving an opinion whether it is a positive topic or negative. Many people we never hear from....unless it is negative. Not against the rules, but it is too bad how some people are built.

Really hate to see that happen. Obviously, if the Bruins had been playing USC, the Condoms would probably still be celebrating on the sidelines.

What Are Lanning's Options On Offense Moving Forward?
The offense lacks good skill coaching and looks unmotivated. Both can be blamed on the coaches. It's much harder in this NIL age to motivate players that are making millions already. So the quickest solution is having smart game plan and management, which is easier said than done. Sorry but I am not very encouraged by the 2 losses so far. I just don't see us realistically winning more than 7 games this year at this point. So maybe Idaho Potato Bowl vs the Beavs?

Ducks Ranked No. 9?
Yep... ESPN's Football Power Index still luvs us! So, we've got that going for us!

Has Lanning Changed Since Oklahoma St?
So, what was up with the 2 point conversion attempt in the first quarter after our long one yard drive for a TD? Is there any general consensus on what in the world he was thinking?

That's a shame. Reminds me of the Dennis Dixon year. Hope they rebound better than we did.

I can't speak for all the moderators but from my perspective, the members on this site have responded amazingly well. Not only did we wittiness a gut wrenching loss, we also saw a spectacular meltdown of historic proportion. Even so, the group kept within the rules and didn't attack players, coaches or each other. Well done team!

If No Moore, Go with Thomas
Against the Huskers, Raiola is ready for an all timer of a bounce back game against his former teammates. (I hope 😇) The guy the coaches want to start is the guy who should start. Dan needs to know whether Raiola is the USC guy or the UCLA guy. If the latter, Raiola and his bro should be encouraged to play elsewhere next season. Free up the money for a better QB from the portal. A dual-threat QB who can cover for bad O-line play. If you can't find a dual-threat QB, the money should be spent on quality O-line players from the portal. It's disappointing that the two stud O-line recruits are not ready to play ball. Disappointing that older players who were highly valued as recruits have not played up to their stars. Disappointing that these guys were overvalued in the offseason. In fairness to Dante and Dylan, it's difficult to win when you can't run the ball. Hats off to Thomas, but starting a game is much different than coming in late. And if the O-line can't gain a yard to tie the game, well ...

Now multiply this situation by about 5 or 6 when we look at every other player that is being under utilized and is frustrated. I hope it doesn't, but this could snowball in a hurry with young kids seeing money and a chance to put NFL tape down.

Two problems here... I don't think Koa Ka'Ai is up to the task of being the QB coach at Oregon. He has overseen the regression of Moore and failed to prepare Raiola for UCLA. Mehringer's plan was a failure for UCLA. It forced Raiola to play hero ball... which brings out all his bad habits that he had at Nebraska. The Ducks need to run the ball that opens up the pass that allows Raiola to play within the system. That was why he looked so good against USC. He played within the system. Mehringer failed to make adjustments during the game against UCLA to allow his players to play in the system. Instead they just ran around panicked. They seemed shocked that UCLA dropped 7-8 into coverage at times. They were grossly unprepared. That's on the coaches.

What Are Lanning's Options On Offense Moving Forward?
In truth the only way we hold onto Dak I think is if we go out and get a new OC and QB coach. Even then Lanning is going to have to sell Dak on how this is going to be a boon for him. Probably comes with some extra NIL money as well.

What Are Lanning's Options On Offense Moving Forward?
I've noticed increasing and visible frustration from Dakorien because throws are not on target, he is getting missed, he gets separation and the throw is late. What a waste it would be if he decided to go become a top WR elsewhere because our offense is regressing.

Their back-up looks serviceable. He held is own against our best defensive showing of the season this far. They should be fine with the rest of the pieces Chesney has put together out there.

Because he’s not ready unless we are going to run the read-option offense again.

Oh no. That is really too bad. The Bruins are a great story. They may still run the table. Would mot be surprised.

Since Saturday, I have avoided this site. I was simply too gutted to follow Charles' very reasonable rules. I would have been nothing but expletives and hanging saliva strings. Unbecoming behavior for a 70-year-old man. Well done to take a break. It's nice to know our basement level is still competing with top 25 teams though isn't it? Young kids and all can flip a switch. The defense seems to have done that. Maybe the offense can too. You never know.

What Are Lanning's Options On Offense Moving Forward?
Line up 9 wide and draw plays in the dirt, since our OL is absolutely terrible? Have our defensive line play both ways at the line of scrimmage? Punt on 1st down and hope the defense can score or get the offense the ball within the 5 yard line?

What Are Lanning's Options On Offense Moving Forward?
It's been a really bizarre blooming of problems. Certainly I would sell all of my DL stock if he doesn't replace Terry and Mehringer during the off-season. There is only so much schematic change that can be made mid season, especially with our 1 bye week behind us. The only thing DL can do is lock the OL staff and players in their room and chew them a new one for their lack of execution. Make them ALL run until they can't stand up. Tell them he's already spooling up recruiting to find a bunch of portal players and a new assistants. If they won't motivate themselves by gratefulness for the opportunity, then Dan will just have to motivate them by fear and discomfort. But this can't continue. You can't have plays where it looks like a screen pass because the entire DL is immediately in the backfield on an inside run. You can't get knocked back on your heels over and over and over.

Has Lanning Changed Since Oklahoma St?
There is a fine line between confidence and arrogant hubris. To me he is a bit out over his skis and should have hired seasoned F1 Drivers to drive this supposedly F1 racecar of a roster. Hiring someone from the pit crew hasn't worked. Kind of the Jerry Jones style of cheaping out on the management when you pay a lot for talent.

I want Dylan to have a go at it. Just promise him one half to figure it out.

Unbecoming behavior for a 70-year-old man. But boy, if I were only 69, I would have lit this place up! Now, I'm all mature and stuff. It's a disappointing year, no matter what happens from here on out. They say winning teams have a certain "it" factor. This team seems to have a certain "it isn't here" factor.
