THE SEASON COMES INTO FOCUSPreseason expectations are rising for Oregon’s passing game, while the Ducks may need a different solution to their defensive tackle recruiting needs. The countdown to the 2026 season is beginning to feel real. Big Ten Media Days take place this week, Oregon will hold its own media day next Monday, and fall camp will begin soon after. The annual wave of preseason rankings, watch lists and predictions has already started to roll in. After months of projecting what this Oregon team might become, we are approaching the point when the Ducks can begin answering those questions on the practice field. Recruiting remains important, but roster discussions will soon share the spotlight with position battles, depth charts and expectations for the season ahead. That transition begins with an Oregon offense receiving significant preseason praise. CBS Sports has identified the Ducks as having the best collection of pass catchers in the country. Whether Oregon ultimately lives up to that label remains to be seen, but the talent is difficult to dispute. Latest Oregon Ducks Facility Construction Shows Massive Project Taking ShapeThe "2.Mo" construction shows the first bit of curved timber on the building, which is one of many details nodding back to the Oregon Ducks' Pacific Northwest heritage. Progress Being MadeComparing the photograph from last years' construction beginnings to the video posted on X by Winter, there's been quite a bit of progress made on the 170,000 square foot complex, including what appears to be the majority of the internal skeleton complete, as well as a portion of the curved timber roof installed. Speaking of keeping the local aspect top of mind, Leo Harris Parkways has already been rerouted. Additional parking was added in front of Autzen Stadium where a gravel parking area used to be, with access to the surrounding woods and adjacent Willamette River. According to the Southwest Oregon Architect Blogspot, "Additionally, the broader project includes improved ADA access in Alton Baker Park, expanded parking, and enhancements to fish habitat and water quality in the nearby waterway. These changes reflect a civic dimension to the development, even if the primary driver is athletic performance." Marsh Duck Monday - The SEC's Bluster Ignores their Privilege and Hypocrisy
The reality is that college football needs a centralized governing body. However, none of the conferences want that to be the NCAA or anyone else. They may say they want a strong centralized governing body but they really really really don't want to lose their autonomy as that is what built their massive power base and wealth.

Marsh Duck Monday - The SEC's Bluster Ignores their Privilege and Hypocrisy
Great stuff! That’d be hilarious if they “went it alone”. Rise before the fall as they say. If a college league gets that small, people eventually stop watching when the NFL would be a superior option. I mean, I guess they could have their southern version of the junior USFL and some people might watch.

Marsh Duck Monday - The SEC's Bluster Ignores their Privilege and Hypocrisy
We all are tired of the SEC telling everyone how great they once were(before NIL leveled the playing field). They really offer very little in solving the problems that face college sports today. Less than $1 billion was spent on NIL budgets in the inaugural 2021/2022 season. The total NIL budget estimate for the 2026/2027 season is approximately $4.5 billion. Without well defined NCAA rules for transfer and eligibility, coupled with consistent enforcement of the rules, chaos becomes the norm. Currently, coaches are pointing fingers at each other for tampering. Add in the ‘runaway train” of NIL budgets, and you have a ticking time bomb. The question is whether any of the problems will be solved before the bomb explodes.

Ok Marsh....get outa my head! I Swear that, almost to the letter, I have been arguing against SEC perceived "dominance" due exactly to all the facts that you have pointed out. It's not a rant! Just pulling the vail of appearance off of a very structured, intentional PR campaign (FawnBaum check'n in), since the turn of the century from where it "all just means more". Good, factual, analysis. GO DUCKS! BEAT BOISE!

On the Eve of Big Ten Media Days Cleveland.com Releases Its Annual Poll
A few thoughts on these rankings. USC 4, Michigan 5, Penn State 6 - Penn State has the easiest schedule in the Big Ten in 2026. USC and Michigan have two of the most difficult schedules in the country. Penn State plays USC at home and is on the road at Michigan. If the players Matt Campbell brought with him from Iowa State, including QB Rocco Becht, who has started 39 games, can step up against B1G competition, the Nittany Lions could go 10-2 or better and be in the playoff discussion. Minnesota's P.J. Fleck is undefeated in bowl games with a 7-0 record. Week 2 headline B1G vs. SEC games are Ohio State at Texas and Oklahoma at Michigan. Mississippi State's Week 2 visit to Minneapolis will influence the debate over the two conferences' depth. These are the three regular-season matchups between Power 2 teams. Wisconsin has a tough opener against Notre Dame in Green Bay, but has the second-easiest conference schedule. UCLA has a tough opener at Cal, but also has a relatively easy conference schedule. I think both teams will do better than the predicted 12 and 13. Washington's two trips to the Eastern Time Zone this season are visits to Purdue and Michigan State. Iowa, Penn State, and Indiana all visit Seattle. UW also will likely benefit from playing at USC the week after Oregon plays at USC. UW has a decent chance of finishing better than 7th in the conference and is a playoff dark horse (dog?). Let's play ball! Beat Boise!

Chip Kelly and Northwestern
That might make him the smartest or luckiest guy in the game. Only Josh McDaniel can say he got a better deal with less to show. At least Chip was a great coach for a few years at Oregon. McDaniel failed, got fired, held up another franchise after they were willing to give him another shot, and lastly got fired once more. McDaniel was only a success when he had Tom Brady as a QB.
