Dana Altman Retires, & Tony Stubblefield Takes Over...
Shocking news for this time of year. I thought for sure Altman would had had enough by the end of last season. Maybe he'd seen enough practices to know he couldn't take another year of this.

Dana Altman Retires, & Tony Stubblefield Takes Over...
Hopefully, it isn't a health issue regarding him or a close family member. Otherwise, though, the timing is very strange. Maybe he woke up and just decided he didn't want to go through a season with talent in the lower half of the conference?

Reactions & Concerns After Watching UCLA vs Purdue...
In that video I posted in Post No. 14....we see some superb formation use to set up a good running play, and then tremendous blocking technique. Can our defensive line hold up? We Need a TON of this A'Mauri!

Dana Altman Retires, & Tony Stubblefield Takes Over...
JC, see the On3 article post above. I think Dana is retiring because he doesn't have the budget to compete at the top level of today's NIL-driven CBB.

Although it is a heck of a lot more than a full share of the PAC. AMEN

Reactions & Concerns After Watching UCLA vs Purdue...
Put Nasir Wyatt on Nico. He seems quick enough to be a spy on him. As long as the front four can get home a decent amount of times it should speed up Nico's internal clock and force him to make quicker reads. I was decently encouraged by our run defense against USuCk so I want to see that aspect of coverage continue to blossom. On offense we need to have a breakout game with our rushing attack. I believe this will happen. It will give Dylan a half second, or so, more of processing time downfield. I think he already trusts his receivers to go make plays on the balls he puts up. In a good-on-good matchup we have more talent. As long as they play a clean game this can and should result in a similar, if not, more lopsided score than USC. We are in Autzen, the crowd will do its work!

UCLA's offensive coordinator is highly respected, and here is a video about him and their offense.

While a change has been inevitable, the timing is weird to say the least.

Dana Altman Retires, & Tony Stubblefield Takes Over...
Reading between the lines of this On3 article, it sounds like he is retiring because he doesn't have the budget to compete at the top of today's CBB NIL world. He wasn't happy about not having the resources to retain top players or create a championship roster. Most of the revenue-sharing money has to go to football. Oregon basketball boosters don't have the money, or there aren't enough boosters interested in basketball. The same thing happened to the baseball team. By Big Ten standards, Oregon has a small number of living alumni. Today's CBB is a different world from when the Tall Firs won the first NCAA championship in 1937 with a win over Ohio State. I expect the Buckeyes combined CFB and CBB budgets dwarf Oregon's combined budgets. And getting a half-share of B1G revenue does not help the cause. Success in today's college sports: follow the $$$. A Prove It Week for Powerhouse Programs, and also for their opponents: No. 13 OBD, No. 21 UCLA, No. 7 Indiana, No. 31 Nebraska, No. 1 Texas, No. 16 Florida, and No. 10 LSU. And LSU's opponent, No. 26 Kentucky, wants to return to the Top 25. Top Dawg in the SEC? I think it will be determined, at least through Week 6, when No. 2 Georgia plays No. 7 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I've added these two SEC powerhouses to the discussion. I think both teams would defeat No. 1 Texas. If Nebraska isn't ranked in the Top 25 because of the quality of the teams it has played, why are No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 4 Miami ranked? The team that exposed cracks in the Indiana defense? The should be ranked in the Top 25, No. 30 Northwestern Wildcats which after the beatdown of Penn State is now 4-1 with the loss on the road against No. 7 Indiana. Northwestern also destroyed B12 Colorado. If NW played ball in the SEC it would be ranked.
