  2. These analysts are fools. They think the highest draft spot/ salary is all that matters. Get the highest spot with the crappiest team, who cares if you aren't developed enough and never play! The difference between 10 million and 20 million dollarsis irrelevant. It hardly brings any extra joy at that point. Yet a long rewarding career being better developed and winning some games will make a player WAY happier.
  3. Entertaining? Yes. But I hope the Football gods deliver pleasing entertainment and not a horror show, especially against Chip on Halloween.
  4. I would say the same about defensive lineman that have to play a non-disruptive gap control technique. I'm sure the scouts still love it, but where's the glory in that!
  5. Yikes. Blessed to be in the 45% camp but both of us are still living so statistically the jury is still out...
  6. The day before Week 0 kicked off, what if I told you that heading into Week 7 of the 2026 college football (CFB) season, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, and Washington wouldn't be ranked, but Northwestern and UCLA would? Would you have recommended a good psychiatrist, or asked for some of whatever I was on? No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Indiana have held serve, but the rest is a B1G mess. All times Pacific. AP Poll rankings. BTN = Big Ten Network. Off Week: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, USC FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16th - 3-3 Washington +3.5 at 3-3 Purdue - 5 PM - Fox - Relax, your eyesight is fine; coming into this game, UW is the Under-Husky. Purdue is 2-1 in the Big Ten and took No. 21 Wake Forest into double OT. The conference loss came against UCLA in Pasadena; the Boilermakers' offense put up 38 points on the Bruins' defense. Against UCLA, this is better than some B1G offenses have performed. 😧 In its seven conference games east of the Rockies, UW is 1-6. This season, Washington is 0-for-the-Power 4. QB Demond Williams is Questionable and not likely to play. However, Williams' play this season has been questionable at best. --- SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17th No. 4 Ohio State -3.5 at No. 5 Indiana - 9 AM Fox The B1Ggest game of the week kicks off at 11 AM in Bloomington, Indiana. Brilliant! In its long and sordid CFB history, the Indiana Hoosiers have defeated Ohio State twice in Bloomington. The last time was in 1988. The first time was in 1904, before the Forward Pass. Unfortunately for Indiana, this Ohio State team can throw the ball and has a pretty good WR in Jeremiah Smith. The Hoosiers counter with WRs Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh. Like the 2025 Big Ten championship game, I expect this game will be another close call, and too close to call. --- No. 25 4-1 Northwestern -10 at 2-4 Michigan State - 9 AM Peacock Chip brings the Wing T to East Lansing in a homecoming for NW QB Aiden Childs, and Michigan State HC Pat Fitzgerald will be going against his alma mater for the first time since he was wrongfully fired. I know the game is on The Bird, but I hope Fitz will not give The Bird to the Wildcats like in Week 6 when he flipped off Illinois. --- The Relegation Bowl - 1-4 Rutgers +4.5 at 2-4 Maryland - 9:30 AM BTN With JMU leaving for the American Conference, there's an opening in the Sun Belt; unfortunately, only one opening. --- The Weren't You Old Dudes Supposed to Fix Things Bowl - 3-3 Penn State +5.5 at 3-2 Michigan - 12:30 PM CBS Coach Whittingham is completely behind QB Underwood and OC Beck, like he left some team in Salt Lake City behind. On the way to breaking Little Game James' record, Coach Campbell is looking for his first P4 victory at PU, er, PSU. --- 5-1 No. 26 Wisconsin +3.5 at 5-0 No. 12 UCLA - 4:30 PM NBC Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell was finally handed a decent football budget, and he has turned back the clock to the Badgers' smash-mouth days under Barry Alvarez. On both sides of the ball. This is a homecoming game for QB Colton Joseph (😍), who grew up in Newport Beach and played ball at Newport Beach High School. Joseph was not offered a scholarship by UCLA or any other P4 program and transferred to Wisconsin from Old Dominion, where he was the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. Joseph is averaging 5.1 yards per carry, a terrific average in CFB, where sack yardage is subtracted from a QB's rushing output. UCLA Nico Iamaleava went down in the first half of the Oregon game. Under Bob Chesney's run-first offense, Nico's passing stats were not impressive, but he did contribute to the run game. I think the winner of this game will contend for a spot in the 2026 CFB Playoffs. UCLA has an out-of-conference Power 4 win on the road at Cal. Wisconsin gave No. 2-ranked Notre Dame a battle in the first half, before the game turned on a bad review call, as later admitted by Big Ten HQ, that gave the Irish the ball deep in Wisconsin territory. A two-loss Bruins or Badgers team is odds-on to receive a Playoff invitation. After this game, UCLA has one Top-25-ranked team left on its schedule: No. 19 USC plays UCLA in Pasadena in the final week of the regular season. Wisconsin has two ranked teams left; next week USC visits Madison and the following week, the Badgers travel to No. 17 Iowa. In a close game, I think Bucky Badger upsets the Bruins. --- 5-1 No. 29 Nebraska +7.5 at No. 27 3-2 Oregon - 8 PM Fox The Fox broadcast day starts at 11 AM in Bloomington and concludes at 11 PM Eastern, 10 PM Wisconsin body-clock time. At 7:30 PM Eastern, Fox is broadcasting the OK State at Houston game. OK, both OK State and Houston are ranked in the top 25, but the broadcast times for Ohio State at Indiana and a should-be-ranked Nebraska at Oregon game mean millions fewer CFB fans will not be watching Big Ten football in Week 7. Unless Oregon defeats undefeated Ohio State in Columbus in Week 10, this is a 2026 Playoff elimination game for what would be a 3-loss OBD. Nebraska has not defeated a ranked opponent in the last 31 games. The last win against a ranked team was in 2016, when Nebraska upset No. 22 Oregon in Lincoln, 35 to 32. Like the Indiana loss in Lincoln last week, many games have been oh so close. Win this game, and the Cornhuskers will be 9-1 heading into a Week 12 game against Ohio State and a Week 13 game at Iowa. Sadly, win or lose, this game is not against a ranked Oregon team. For more on the game, check out the Forum. --- No. 2 6-0 Notre Dame -11.5 at 5-0 No. 8 BYU - 4:30 PM ABC Notre Dame is 0-9 in the last nine games a Top 10 Irish team has played a Top 10 opponent on the road. After this game, I see this record being 1-9. For the Cougars, I think this is 2025 BYU vs. Texas Tech, when BYU was blown away in two games against the Red Raiders, with one of the games played in Provo. There is no reason whatsoever for BYU to be ranked in the Top 10. And Notre Dame being ranked 2nd is based solely on the Eye Test. Man, I hope my prediction is wrong. --- No. 6 5-1 Alabama -6.5 at No. 14 5-1 Tennessee - 12:30 PM ABC I'm shocked! No. 6 Alabama lost a home game to No. 1 Georgia and remains ranked 6th. Cigars all around for the winner. --- No. 9 4-1 Ole Miss -6.5 (Of course, being Swamped by the unranked Gators doesn't count, right?) vs. No. 13 5-1 Missouri - 12:30 PM ESPN --- No. 18 4-1 Oklahoma State +3.5 at No. 20 5-1 Houston - 4:30 PM Fox Come On Cowboys! --- No. 15 5-1 Kentucky +6.5 at 3-2 Oklahoma - 4:30 PM SEC Network Will the oddsmakers ever start believing in Will? --- No. 21 5-1 Wake Forest -7.5 at 3-3 Cal - 4:30 PM ESPN 2 After being concussed in the loss at UNLV, JK Sagapolutele was out vs. VA Tech and is questionable for this game. Backup QB Jackson Brousseau, who transferred in from Colorado State, led Cal to a 25 - 20 defeat of favored VA Tech, throwing for 321 yards and a TD. I hope Cal defeats Wake. Why Wake and SMU are ranked and not Nebraska and Wisconsin is the reason why Tony P insisted upon a 24-team PO field. --- Here's hoping Week 7 will be lucky for OBD and that Oregon will not roll craps in back-to-back home games. Husk the Huskers!
  7. It is possible there will be enough competitive teams outside the P2 to kill off the P2 super league talk. 30ish teams would be too small anyways for college. I think the big problem remaining is the G6/P4 dynamic. 136 teams for one trophy is stupid too. They need to break it into two tiers and develop a specific process for movement between conferences at different levels.
  8. Just trying to make sure the football situation is in perspective. Thanks guys.
  9. No spoiler alerts needed for the rest of the season. Just tune in and watch.
  10. Ducks 7-6 (Redbox bowl says hello) 4 sacks 2 turnovers 180 yards Yes that does mean DL TAKES THE PAT this week!
  11. Ducks win 27-13 1 TO 3 Sacks 253 Yards Passing.
  12. I was thinking the same thing for the UCLA game and ended up with a lump of coal. I do find this matchup fascinating, but being "entertaining" is dependent on if we can move ball forward more often than we move backwards or give it away.
  13. Remember, that was with the mindset of nothing to lose and saving the day. Not the same pressure as when you’re the starter and not as loose. It doesn’t mean he can’t; but it’s a big mind adjustment between the two roles - especially at QB.
  14. I’ve been thinking the same thing. The feeling reminds me of those days when we seemed to be reinventing ourselves almost on a weekly basis. In those days it was because we were inventing what we would eventually become. Now, it feels like it’s because what we've become is stale.
  15. Today

  16. We have not been in this spot in a very long time. We could continue to be a poor team, or we could improve into something notable....but which? This is entertainment we are not used to....What Will Oregon Do? Will we come out in a Power-Gap Offense as dazedinconfused believes, or in an updated passing offense as I lean towards? Which QB? How long? Can the defense continue as last week? Can our punting game help us again? So many questions, and it will be very, very interesting to watch. This is not what we expected, but you have to admit--it WILL be highly entertaining!
  17. No Dante & No Stewart Nebraska 31-21 1 1 231
  18. If the Beavs made the playoffs, they'd get absolutely crushed. Much like we did the last couple of years.
  19. If we're thinking about the same play, Brock actually overthrew Dak by 3 feet so arm strength isn't an issue (he's not elite but has enough). He was under pressure because the OL was collapsing yet again so accuracy went out the window.
  20. I see more losses from failed two point conversions vs wins from a random unnecessary 2pt conversion. JMHO and call me ultra conservative but if you don't need the 2pt conversion then don't attempt it. Take the point(s) given.
  21. Dan Lanning needs 5 Oregon Ducks to be X-Factors to pull out win over NebraskaThe 5 Oregon Ducks who could prove pivotal vs. NebraskaJordon Davison - Running BackWhile Dan Lanning hasn't named a starting quarterback for Saturday Night, the Ducks offense would get a massive lift if the running game started to find a rhythm. Over the first two games of Big Ten play, Jordon Davison has had 29 carries for just 107 yards, averaging just 3.69 yards per carry. The Ducks are still looking for their first 100 yard rushing performance, and it would take a ton of pressure off whoever starts at quarterback. Jamari Johnson - Tight EndDrew Mehringer's biggest flaw at the moment is the fact that he's not finding a way to get his biggest playmakers involved in the game. Jamari Johnson waited until the 57th minute of the UCLA game to get his first target, which is unacceptable. Getting Johnson involved early is going to be a priority, and he's going to need to make the most out of his targets. Dakorien Moore - Wide ReceiverDakorien Moore continues to do more with less as he led the team with 77 yards on just 4 catches. The quarterbacks would have life made much easier on themselves if Drew Mehringer designed touches for Moore, as he's electric after the catch. There may not be a more talented player on the team than Moore, and it's time for the staff to start using him like every other school uses their star wideouts. If Evan Stewart is ruled out for the game, Moore is going to be the elder statesman in the room, and will have to take pressure off the freshmen. Na'eem Offord - CornerbackOregon's defense wasn't the issue vs. UCLA, but Na'eem Offord did get beat on the opening drive for a 62 yard gain while allowing 2 catches for 88 yards on the day. Nebraska star wide receiver Jacorey Barney lines up the most on the outside, meaning Offord is going to draw that matchup often. The Ducks can't afford to let Barney beat them in this game, and Na'eem Offord is going to have to do his best to make a big impact. Matayo Uiagalelei - Edge RusherPart of the reason Oregon was even in the UCLA game despite the offense's struggles was the dominance of the Ducks' defensive line. Matayo Uiagalelei played his best game of the season with 7 tackles and a pair of sacks against the Bruins. Hopefully, the UCLA game serves as the start of a hot streak for Uiagalelei, as the defense is going to need to step up the rest of the way until Dante Moore returns. Autzen ZooDan Lanning needs 5 Oregon Ducks to be X-Factors to pull...Coming off a loss to UCLA which drops the Ducks to 3-2 on the season, it's now do-or-die the rest of the way for Oregon. This weekend brings another tough clash
  22. Team. A Team is not young men reaching out with one hand to hopefully make an exciting catch and appear on Sports Center. Not a defensive end rushing out of his lane to make an exciting Sports Center Tackle. Fundamentals are a part of everything in our lives. Ego is not. You may have the most Expensive 5 Star athletes, the Best of the Best, but without 'that' special atmosphere, you will Never have a Team. This is not the Jim Brown era, not High School where one young man can dominate-well, RARELY. There are so many excellent players and coaches. We have a Great bunch of athletes, many wonderful human beings as well. Just my opinion, but if our Coaches can Coach for the Team, can Trust these young men and Truly Lead them as a TEAM, these Ducks can be awesome. Think back to Mike and Nick days. Those guys must have been amazing to do what they did with the talent level they had. Hey, ALL these guys at this stage of the game are pretty Damn Good Athletes! We are close, I hope. Big THANK YOU to everyone that contributes to all this that Charles has put together for US. I hope the Duck Coaches can organize and lead their guys in Football as well as Charles has Lead Us into a TEAM!
  23. The problem is Lanning's hubris in not hiring qualified F1 drivers to drive the F1 car level talent he paid to come play and thought he could grab Jimmy Lipper from the pit crew to race the car instead. As Lanning isn't an exceptional coach he reallllllly needs to be a better CEO and hire actual coaches and not just barely adequate buddies.
  24. Me O My. I expected fallout from Altman's departure but......😳. Hope the team(?) gets over it before games that count, well...start to count.
