Lincoln Riley ROI
USC 'spent' close to $100M (GULP) to secure the services of Lincoln Riley. 2 Pac-12 schools are stepping up with the $ to compete at the highest level of CFB. The Ducks and the Trojans. Also, hats off to WSU for coming up with a 'Pullman' NIL deal to secure the services of Incarnate Word QB, Cameron Williams RILEY TO DATE: Signed No. 2 CB Jackson, No. RB Brown, No. 6 safety Branch; No. 11 WR CJ Williams. Portal - Signed 2 starting-caliber WRs Mario Williams from OK and Terrell Bynum from UW. Also signed UVA starting left tackle, 2nd team all-ACC, Bobby Haskins. CJ Williams signing with SC is a good sign that QB Caleb Williams will end up at SC. Oregon no longer has Clay Helton to kick around when recruiting SoCal guys. In deciding not to expand, the conference could really use a top 10 Oregon playing a top 10 SC in the champ game. And at least 2 teams playing in NY6 bowls if not in the playoff, that will stay at 4 teams until 2026 because basketball conference ACC vetoed CFB playoff expansion before 2026. BTW: If Jaxson Dart follows former SC OC Graham Harrell to West Virginia, he will likely be the starter at QB when W VA opens against Pitt and SC transfer QB Kedon Slovis in 2022.

Uh-Oh: Oregon Probed by NCAA About NIL Program
Chip was the only guy using a 'runner' to help with recruiting, right?

Uh-Oh: Oregon Probed by NCAA About NIL Program
Figures. A+M just paid $70M in NIL $ to buy a class of recruits. Texas is paying every OL guy $50K a year. But it's the Pac-12 that gets nailed, right?

But where could it be built? Westwood, Bel Air? Is Westwood closer to the new Rams/Chargers stadium?

Oregon at Georgia - Some Good News
Georgia starting LB , AA Dean and starting Safety Lewis Cine are both skipping their senior season and heading for the NFL. Also, looks like the Pac-12 will have 5 guys drafted in the 1st round and Utah LB Lloyd will be playing in the Senior Bowl. In addition to Lloyd, KT, SC WR London, SC DE, and UW DB McDuffie.

Whew! Greg McElroy Takes Offense to Thibs Alabama Remarks
And a top WR out before the game started, another top WR go down early in a game, a true frosh WR dropping a TD after a 13 minute drive and the Heisman winner missing a wide open receiver in the end zone. Also didn't help that an unforced fumble by Bennett bounced right back into his hands. Game was far closer than the final score. UGA was better prepared than in the SEC champ game but UGA also, for once, got all of the good juju vs Bama.

The Pac-12 has to Act Now
Remarkable. This money has gone to facility development and academic progress, rightfully so, and not to high school kids to pay (bribe?) them to attend UO. I doubt PK wants to play a direct pay-for-play game with kids who have never played a down of college football? Signing 'a deal' with a KT who has proved it on the field is a logical business investment. I can only hope that A(t)M and Jimbo continue to go 8-4 every season.

The Pac-12 has to Act Now
I think PK is far too smart a business person to copy the awash in oil money A+M boosters? Both Saban and Kirby Smart appeared to be 'offended' with what A+M pulled off. Texas followed in its own way with every OL guy starter or not, being 'paid' $50K a season. These schools both draw 100,000+ fans for every home game, will both be SEC schools and are in football mad Texas. In a way I'm happy that Phillips and the ACC slowed this playoff expansion roll. Does the Pac-12 and Oregon, or say just Oregon, SC and other conference members that can afford it, want to compete against the SEC at this level of investment? As I have noted before, come 2026 I would be more than happy to go back to the old Rose Bowl format with the B1G, and perhaps, adding in the ACC and possibly the B12 into some kind of post season tournament. I am disappointed that the Pac-12 did not add KS, K ST, OK ST, TX TECH, TCU, BAYLOR, HOUSTON and IOWA ST because 1 P5 competitor would be eliminated and the Pac-20 would have more power at the bargaining table. Now I see Pac-12 top teams more likely to be picked off then I see the conference remaining viable. If the Pac-12 wanted to expand today what's left after Bowlsby resurrected the B12? Today, comparing what the Pac-12 schools spend on football compared to SEC schools; well, it's like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Chip Signs Extension at UCLA
I think Chip has the easiest P5 OOC schedule in 2022. 3 home cupcakes. He'll start 3-0 but will anyone show up to watch the games?

Chip Signs Extension at UCLA
He did as he was told and got rid of Azz. UCLA is $40M in the red. What coach could they go after that was half decent and pay the guy's buyout plus salary? UCLA is a lost cause. The OL coach at UCLA who is good is off to Ohio State. What kind of money does Chip have to pay a new DC and a new OC; especially, considering the COL in LA. DTR is back? Big whoop.

ESPN: Bo Nix is a Top Instant Impact Newcomer?
The level of competition in the ACC vs the SEC? Not close. AB never started a game at BC vs a top 25 team that he won. Among other top 25 teams, Nix has a W vs Bama.

ESPN: Bo Nix is a Top Instant Impact Newcomer?
WAZZU's new QB from Incarnate Word (IW) Cameron Ward, also made this list. WSU came up with enough NIL $ to not only sign Ward but also to bring along Ward's OC at IC as the new WSU OC. SEE?

Great comment. Of course, who knew that Oregon's best RB was about to fly away?
-
Whew! Greg McElroy Takes Offense to Thibs Alabama Remarks
Dear Greg, when Oklahoma and Texas come on board your beloved SEC will have 5 AAU member schools out of the 16 institutions of higher learning. BTW, Bama won't be one of the 5.

One Thing Stetson Bennett Said,
The easiest thing to do in life if you fail is to blame someone or something else; usually, 'the establishment.' Bennett went from a barely recruited 3*, a guy who had to take a side trip to JC, to a title winning QB. This, notwithstanding he will not be a high NFL draft pick. He bet on himself. Had the guts to see it through and in the rough patch times, worked harder. BTW, the NCAA cartel referenced above, with NIL and wide open free agency the cartel is gone.

The Pac-12 has to Act Now
I also like Jon. But with playoff expansion now off the table will any of these suggested changes, which I agree with, actually result in Final 4 appearances? Result in the Pac-12 getting more than 1 automatic qualifying team into NY6 bowls? What I suggest in addition to what Wilner proposes: The conference determines a minimum amount that must be 'invested' in CFB and CBB. Schools that under-invest get less when revenue is dispersed. Same for attendance. If you do not sell xx% of the available seats for your home games you are dinged when revenue is dispersed. Something needs to be done to get the 'uninterested' Pac-12 schools investing capital and marketing the money ball sports.

BREAKING: Travis Dye Enters Transfer Portal
YOU BROKE THE CODE. THIS is going on all over the place as is roster tampering. And rosters with new coaches who did not recruit the players are being tampered with the most.
