Big would be a million, more than double what the 49ers are paying Purdy. It's what the pundits stated during the game, seemed like a rumored amount, but I have no idea.

I would say hold on to the Orgegon qb comparison's. Dixon was lightening in a bottle and Mariota won the Heisman and there is not need to compare against our own. Bo will have his time to make a place in our history, but for now he is making that history, no reason to compare or elevate him against our own. I would put him above this years competition as the season progresses. I guess I just don't like seeing our greats shifted up or down in the history books. There are plenty of competitors to do that against. Right now I would take Bo over anybody playing college ball in 2023, end of story. He can win the Pac-12 Championship game before the Heisman ballots are due in. At that point he should be rated higher than his completion this year, and I hope he is. I guess comparing him against Marcus, and Dennis just tugs at me emotionally, we should go after the competition!

There was a comment by the commentators Bo was being paid 2 bigs, is that true? Agree with Log Haulin, as usual, the dawg game sharpened Bo's game. The one aspect he needs to polish up is the long ball. I have a feeling there will be a program which will challenge Bo's ability to throw the deep route accurately. He needs to make defenses pay for bringing safeties up, might be the beav game?

Another big difference, Dan Lanning > Mark Helfrich I will also say our depth is greater than in 2014, which was another thing that doomed the team as they went into the game against the nuts.

The coach is top notch, and their state is a beautiful one. Sometimes the student body can't fully reflect the surrounding atmosphere. I know we shouldn't be tossing too many stones too far, as we do live in a glass house, especially when the state of Utah is concerned.

And nobody, not even your grandmother is going to be asking the Oregon Program,,,,,,,

I think another thing which is right is Lanning's ability to talk about hard issues, and take a stand. He speaks from the heart, often, and isn't afraid to say things which many would shy away from. Parents and student athletes see this and know he stands for something greater than football, the health and welfare of his players. He takes the blame, and he talks honestly from the heart, he is all Oregon, in my opinion!

I am always worried, but share your confidence in the direction Lanning is headed. I will say there will be some hiccups, and hopefully we can all understand what we are seeing is a distant vision coming into focus very quickly, maybe too quickly. Right now I am just enjoying the distant vista gaining the clarity, and beauty, which just needs to be appreciated. Next season it will be the qb question, but I have a feeling Lanning has a plan, and it will surprise us all, once again!

Blitz beer was a little scary, but, like many beers at the time, if it was cold enough you wouldn't notice how poor it was. One beer, Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve, is a beer I would buy today, but sadly it was discontinued so another cute named 'micro' beer can claim shelf space. This is a beer which needs to come back, once the micro beer hysteria calms down.

Notice the same thing, the repetitive passes to start the game caught the Utes off guard, and led to a broken game plan. The quick start was also critical to the momentum a Lanning run game needs, thrives on. If Oregon gets off to a fast start I can't remember a team catching up and winning. Lanning knows how to win going away, and a game plan that scores early and often is a crusher for any team facing the Ducks. Maybe the best plan for the Ducks is to take the kickoff, and attack like they did against the Utes. Then send the defense in and shut the opponent down, game over.

Prudent to not want anything to go against Oregon's chance at getting into the playoffs. Right now Oregon is doing what is necessary to get in, but I wouldn't put it past the committee to take anything and twist it against our Ducks. So I will go on record, I want a team I hate to win, no names to maintain my record of never rooting for any of my hated rivals.

The beavs outscored us 21-3 in the 4th quarter. A fumble, and then a couple stalled offensive downs late. We also only scored field goals to end the game, no touchdowns. All the offense needed to do was score one touchdown instead of a field goal, or not get curb stomped on defense in the 4th and we win. My take at the time, Dilly thought the game was over and was in Sun Devil mode, lost his focus, as the offensive output was inexcusable. I just find it interesting Lanning seems to have trouble against OC's. I have a feeling it is just interesting, nothing to worry about. The next few games should make it apparent if this is a trend, or just a casual observation, not causal. I will say I hate, not a strong enough term, losing to our rivals!

If you look at Dan Lanning as a head coach his kryptonite seems to be Head Coaches who are OC's at heart. If true, this weekend shouldn't be a problem, but the next three weeks could be challenging. While Lanning lost to his mentor, Kirby Smart a DC at heart, by a large margin, other coaches with a DC backgrounds haven't faired so well. The highest rated is probably Whittingham, who doesn't seem to have an answer for Lanning's style. Other DC's such as McGuire at TT, to BYU's Sitake with games we thought might be tough weren't, when a head coach has a defensive background. On the other hand teams with an OC have sometimes done surprisingly well against Lanning. We all know the beav, game too well, and the dawgs with their great OC type head coach is a thorn in Lanning's side. Might SC, and the beavs cause some troubles for Lanning going forward, maybe even Dilly? We certainly should pause when facing Deboer, but is this something Lanning needs to work on, be more aware of? Just a thought and maybe there isn't anything there, but something to ponder as we look to run the tables through the end of the season.

I think we were also one of those teams, teams which get up for big games, and we are becoming a dominant team which just improves. This is the one thing which s changing, and is huge, if it keeps occurring. I hope it does, and I would say is the most profound thing to understand about what Lanning is building. Another element of the culture he is creating.

I think there are teams which get up for big games, the dawgs, and there are teams which get better as the season progresses, the Ducks. Oregon is playing teams who get up for big games, but are failing, with one exception. This is the important thing to keep in mind, Oregon has a target on its back. If a team beats Oregon, it makes their season. Lanning's focus on improving each week and executing each play is critical. There may not be an easy game going forward. Every team we play will be laying it on the line to win, more than any game they play. Oregon just has to focus on being their best Oregon, not an easy task. So far Lanning has them doing exactly what they need to do, stay tuned if he can keep building. I see a huge game at the end, and it isn't just the dawgs.

Not sure the Utes are underwhelming or the Ducks are just becoming overwhelming. My vote is the Ducks are becoming more than formidable, and probably prodigious. All I know is this team's play is becoming staggering, at least to me. I would say knock me down with a feather, but we all knew, deep down, this was coming, just maybe not this soon.

If there were any question on who the better coach is, this game was, as noted, case in point. Dan Lanning and staff can game plan, adjust and be ready for big road games. What a contrast to the last two games MC had against Utah. Kudos to MarØ for beating 2-6 Virginia in overtime at home. He has found his home, thankfully it wasn't Oregon, and can continue to attempt to resurrect the canes. Oregon can continue it's journey to win a Natty, under the keen guidance of the right guy for the job ahead!

Definitely more blitz's, and like the old beer, comforting to see. A blitz gets back to playing attacking defense, what a defense should be. Blitz beer gets back to being what a beer should be, beer. No double this, brown, pale, amber or red that, just cold beer. Mr. Marsh spoke about memories of college, a big difference, beer was just beer. Also a silver bullet was illegal to bring into Oregon.

My game plan, on fire out of the gate, and lots of blitz's. I would say the rest of our coming opponents will pause when stepping on the field when playing these Ducks. The other problem is these Ducks are getting better each week. Nix wasn't rattled at all with all the false starts, just kept leading the team. Our defense was never rattled by a first down, just kept after the young qb. I think I might have sensed a little chaos defense, like it, actually loved it! Utah is a good team, but were no match for the Ducks today.

Sorry, when I went to Oregon we didn't have a Heisman qb, or really anything the football program has now other than a little of the uniforms last weekend. We tied sc, wow, and beat the dawgs, yes!, once while always beating the beavs, but it wasn't the same. We weren't underestimated, we were almost always a long shot and rightly so. Fortunately the 80's was full of great music so it is hard to pick one band, certainly not one song. I will say Animal House was still fairly new, and the campus and some parties had that feel. The one thing that is certainly missing is Mac Court. Some of the young Oregon fans definitely missed one of the defining experiences about Duck athletics. Going to a big game at Mac Court was like no other. So there is nothing about the experience with Oregon Athletics which brings me back, sometimes that is a good thing. I do still love winning when we shouldn't, like no other game, that still fills me up. It doesn't matter what music is playing.

Development is key, and quite evidently something Whittingham and his staff do well. The other aspect is picking talent which fits your scheme and culture. I don't downplay the development of players, but the shotgun approach of a couple previous coaches didn't serve the program well. Lanning is developing talent, but going after specific players. Lanning and his coaches know the makeup of the players they want. Just because they have stars next to their name isn't enough. They have to fit the culture, and be, in some cases, very specific types of athletes to fit the mold they need for the scheme. I would say Whittingham has created a very strong culture, and that is number 1. The other thing he has done is pick Bellotti, Brooks type of guys. He gets a 3* qb like Rising, a Bryson Barnes from Milford Utah, nobody wanted. These guys play with a chip on their shoulders, and have talent his culture feeds off. I tend to think we aren't anything like what we use to be or what Utah is now. We are creating, not a blue blood program, but an elite talent level program. The trick is still keeping that hunger Utah shows, and the way Oregon use to play. I think Lanning is doing that and this will be the trick going forward. Talent and talent development is important, but plenty of programs have failed with elite talent. It is the culture Whittingham has and the culture we are beginning to see and hopefully will see this afternoon. We have seen little let up in effort and resilience within this team this season. The question is can this keep up and grow, develop. That is what I want to see today and going forward this season.

He is one of the good ones. Hard to hate the Utes, but would hate to lose to them. Pay him some money and the insurance in case he gets hurt. It would seem paying these guys insurance to make sure they are covered in case of injury would be pretty compelling for guys who want the degree, love college ball, make a decent amount in NIL. Also in Pickard next in line? Center is so important I hope the next guy up is ready to go!
