Wow, Nebraska needs a qb, feel for the guy, but this is big boy football. Not sure how you stay with this kid under center. 6 turnovers in 6 quarters, pathetic. Do they have a backup qb? Nebraska defense is showing the Buffs offense isn't all that great.

Pathetic, beat the opponent on the field. Pretty nice set up for a small high school team. I suppose it will help the Ducks appreciate the Autzen experience.

Agree the drive and mistakes in the PSU game, not the end of the world, and maybe 'no problem.' The defensive melt-down against OSU, WAS SACRILEGE!

Good stuff so far, love how we can agree to disagree. Charles makes some great points, but there is still question marks we need answered. I will say Tosh is an extremely effective recruiter. Recruiting is a very important element in building a team. I just hope that skill isn't blinding Lanning from seeing a weaknesses in other areas. Time will tell, and I fully admit, from Mel Brooks famous song, I 'hope for the best, expect the worse' when it some to Tosh.

Good stuff, but the dawgs played them last year, and had 4 sacks. Same qb, and just about the same number of passing plays. Like I said the stat is cause for concern. It is one data point, but I am not going to say it doesn't make me want to watch the line going forward. I will admit I love DL, but don't have to love all his hires. Maybe I am a little too tough on how I review the defensive play, full disclosure.

Interesting how in football and many sports there is a constant evolution on how things are done to create a competitive advantage. In basketball there really isn't much other than elite athletes getting bigger, and jumping higher. Take the free throw, they could shoot a higher percentage if the poor shooters shot under handed, but that will never happen. Now in Korea players are shooting bank shots on their free throws and increasing their percentage, but I doubt the NBA players will adopt this technique. As long as there is innovation a game will keep me curious and interested. If the game evolves like the NBA, not so much. There will always be the player I want to see once, maybe twice, but the interest fades quickly.

Great observation, and something to watch in the future. I will say it is amazing to get in the game and get experience. It is a whole different ball game when you come in as a starter. Some interesting training going on with how Lanning is doling out experience, I suppose? Maybe TT starts against TT? If you want to get your back-up ready, is this the best step?

Not concerned, don't want to be a program focused on preseason rankings. We are a program that earns, builds it's ranking, and puts fear into other teams. It is nice to be that Oregon Football Program again!

Blow them away with our offense, and throttle them with our defense. This is the recipe to win on the road. I agree the sack count isn't the only important stat, but pressure and batted down passes get into the head of any qb. I don't want to see Shough comfortable, nor confident going into the second quarter. On offense a couple explosion plays by our weapons will take the air out of the TT players and crowd. By the end of the game I want the pundits to say, seems like Oregon is playing basketball and the other team is SEC football based on the scores being put up when the Ducks play, even on the road! What happens after another large score is all the teams on our schedule will be intimidated before the first kickoff, now that is chaos!

We are lucky to have Bucky! I can't wait to see what kind of a season he has, when called upon to make a real difference. I have a feeling we haven't seen the best of Bucky yet. Also as good as Bucky is, Locklyn seems to be the real deal as far as coaches go. He can pick the talent, inspire, coach up, and manage talent better than any other coach, and we have extremely good coaches! If any position coach can achieve what Locklyn has done at RB, that position will be in good hands.

He has to keep believing and Stein has to keep feeding him things he can do. He definitely has the arm strength, and feet. I just hope the whole mental aspect can come together, as he was a china doll out there in the past. He has to believe, lead, and make it happen for the team to get behind him. Great first step in a new progression for the young man, proud of him! He deserved what happened against PSU!

Agree and I look forward to Stein's play calling and game management to go up against the formidable offensive minds and programs he will face as the season progresses. Those will be big tests, but he showed he has the chops to win against anyone. He has the weapons to win games, and I don't just mean the players on the field. What he showed last Saturday, on many levels, was truly impressive. The one stat which stood out to me Nix rushing yds. 0, Ty rushing 25 yds. He knows how to use the starting qb, and how to get the backup going.

Loved how you backed up your lofty read of the game with the statistics to put it all in perspective, well done! I would combine a couple of your observations and say Stein knows how to develop qb's. This may be the most important development we saw on Saturday. The transition of Ty is nothing short of miraculous. Any athlete who has had a case of the the yips who makes a turnaround is a feat you don't often see. Ty looked like a guy who can play and was set up for success, two things we haven't seen before. Novosad didn't look like he was playing high school ball last year at this time. The young man looked like he could come in and play real minutes at the D1 level. This, to me, was the biggest Duck Stein pulled out of his hat. Continuing Nix's success was nice to see, seeing two back-ups look like they are ready to play was priceless!

Georgia had 49 sacks for a loss of 400 yds the year after he left. Maybe Georgia redefined havoc after Lanning left? Sorry but that excuse sounds like how we tried to rationalize MariØ's offense. I want to see havoc! I do love our offense, I just want a matching crazy good defense!

Road trips can trip you up. This will be the next challenge. I do agree with Charles this team has the potential to be special. The one item is they had better been holding back the more complex defensive packages. If we can't pressure a qb this season it won't be special. Another curious stat is Soelle led our team in tackles. I guy with one start at ASU leads our team in tackles? The defense is definitely still a question mark. I'll be looking for more clarity here next week.

Good for him, hope he is happy 364 days a year!
