  1. Great article David. You only need to look at the Patriots to confirm your point of players win games. Brady moved south and won, Pats became mediocre. Bucky had great players and beat Oregon badly with a 3rd string QB. A very talented 3rd string QB for sure. IMO, if you have great players in OL, DL and QB you win a ton of games. A few Dudes scattered throughout the other position groups and you win titles. Coaching at the college level can't be overlooked though. College football is a coaches game more than any league out there. Probably due to recruiting and development would be my guess. Bo Nix? I have been on the Nix band wagon from day one. The guy doesnt have the strongest arm in college football. He is not even the most accurate or fastest. But... Bo Nix is a baller. He is a leader. Cliche: men would run through brick walls for the guy. Nix would do the same for his guys. Just look at Utes game last year for proof. Bo has the experience, competitiveness and intelligence to carry Oregon to the promise land in 23'. He has command of the offense from LOS and the game has slowed for him at a level that only a few QB's have achieved. Nix is a special Dude with all the support he needs around him on both sides of the ball (potentially). He will be unbridled, giving him the freedom to QB this team to greatness. At every level, IMO, Duck Nation needs to set our sites on a NC trophy this year. Sure, there are reasons I could/should be pessimistic. But Oregon has talent and depth they haven't seen. And... Bo Nix!!!
  2. Food for thought I am 54 and have always had cable TV since I was about 12. If it wasn't for College Football I would cut cable. Pac needs to lead College Football into the great unknown and set up streaming content. Cable subscriptions might not carry #'s in the near future that these conferences and teams are demanding. It might be a huge risk, sure. But couldn't be much worse than present circumstances. The rewards could be massive.
  3. Great post! I am not going to attempt to articulate my thoughts after reading this. I know my lane and am going to stay in it. That said... I love a good fight. I have always been a sword rather than pen type. Time and place for everything I guess. Jon, you are our guy on this. However, if someone needs to be slapped, give me a call... JK. Kidding aside, I would be all in on the legal boys giving a proverbial beat down to these rats. This would make for one of the best off seasons known to man.
  4. The rule is 1 year? Isn't DL outside the 1 year threshold? If not, how is the 1 year calculated? Start of spring ball? Start of fall camp? Signed contract? If this was covered, I missed it.
  5. Oregon has wanted to compete for titles for a long time. The upward trajectory this program to get to where they are at took vision, determination, imagination, grit and... It is no surprise that Oregon leads the Pac in NIL. Ducks have had 30 years of outside the box, get it done experiences. Eugene Oregons Mighty Ducks are an international brand. No small feat considering the size and geographic location of Track Town. Jealousy of the Ducks, conference wide, tastes sweet. Heck, USC stated they bounced in part to stick it to the Ducks. I am impressed with what Oregon has created. Partly why I am a big fan. Hopefully they can get the hardware in the next couple years and solidify how the world sees them. A true blue blood
  6. I think Stein is a great hire. It will be intersting to see how much risk Stein is willing to take on his own side of the field. Hope we don't see the 4d attempts we saw last year with Dilly. Will DL have enough confidence in WS that he feels comfortable to put more of his energy into defensive side of the ball? Oregon needs to show vast improvement on D or fans and media are going to be rough on our young coach. Spring starts in a few weeks. Looking forward to getting an idea of how Ducks have progressed. Two really bad losses last year puts DL on the radar as far as fans go.
  7. Holden should be reinstated. He did nothing wrong. He wasn't even in possession of a firearm. Holden was outside, gun was inside. Nothing more to see here. Bo drops back to pass, has Holden in the corner of the endzone, touchdown Oregon!
  8. If Holden didn't commit a crime, which the prosecutor doesn't seem to believe they can prove, then that only leaves possession of a firearm. Holden is an adult and a citizen of the United States. Dismissing him because he owns a firearm leaves the University in legal jeopardy? Regardless of how I feel about guns, or any of us feel about guns for that matter, Holden has a constitutional right to own, possess and carry a firearm. If it was an illegal carry then charge the man. That they are not charging him means something. Tough spot for Lanning and the University.
  9. Players might regret their decision to commit to one of the LA schools. But it's their choice and with the portal they can always rectify their youthful ignorance of choosing to play for those traitors. If a kid wants to play for UCLA or USC, I don't feel sorry for them. They chose to play there.
  10. Holden should get benefit of doubt. However, Presumption of innocents only applies in court of law in this day and age 🤔. Public opinion not so much. Lanning should sit down with Holden and have a serious talk. Ask some pointed questions. Get a good read on what happened. Lanning is not the courts and is not obligated to let Holden back on the team. I do think if Holden truly did no wrong he should be given an opportunity to play. Could come back to bite DL if he lets Holden back, but right is right. I hope this young man is in fact innocent. Problem is that there has been smoke more than once surrounding Holden. Tough position this kid is putting himself and others in. For the rest of the team, be careful of who you run around with. It could cost you your future.
  11. Big 12 expansion, realignment speculation includes Pac-12 schools Arizona State, Arizona WWW.AZCENTRAL.COM Over the summer, speculation about Arizona and Arizona State potentially leaving the...
  12. Allegedly, dude gets his day in court. That said, Dan lanning gets to chose who is a Duck. A pending felony is a distraction Ducks could do without
  13. Ask again after the spring game and 2nd portal. As a fan, for now I will say... 12-0, 42 ppg, defensively 22 ppg
  14. Ducks made the CFP with less star talent and depth. Ducks also made the championship game they should have won with less. College is a coaches game. Of course you need dudes to execute but the question is... Does Lanning and his coaching staff have the chops to make CFP and compete for a title in 2nd year? Going to be fun to find out.
  15. I watch Youtube, Amazon Prime and Netflix on my smart tv. No buffering. No issues at all unless internet goes down. Actually works better than dish.
  16. My son watches all the NFL games he wants through streaming. I could have game on my 75" samsung qled ( greatest tv for watching ball) and he still will stream it on his phone and go do something else. Something streaming offers is an international audience. Something the Ducks have already tapped into. The Duck brand would generate revenue Ducks didn’t have access to previously. American football is primed for an international audience. The Ducks could claim the throne of the international market.
  17. I am interested in how Will Stein builds and executes the offensive playbook. How well does he and Nix manage what should be an explosive offense. How well will Stein scheme pregame and adjust to expose the opposition for 4 quarters? Nix is going to take an even bigger role calling plays from LOS. If Nix and Stein are on the same page early this could be a top 5 offense. A ton of weapons and a very capable front. Can the D crack top 40ish in the country? If they can, Ducks are competitive against anyone in the cfp.
  18. This man looks absolutely exhausted. Hope he takes a week off. Take care of your health coach.
  19. Oregon D made Penix look like the second coming of Brady. Tom not Marsha. Next year Ducks will have a much better D and then... Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. Dude should have taken the Bama job. Being OC for Sabin is a guarantee Power 5 HC job in a couple years.
  20. With or without these recruits, Oregon has a lot of talent and should field a very good football team. The foundation is set with the players lanning has now. Ducks will stack class after class equivalent to the 23 class. The next few years the Ducks are going to be a force. Harbor and Pleasant will choose to be a big part of that or be a face in the crowd somewhere else. Ducks are on the verge of changing the power structure of college football. I have no doubts with Lanning leading this progr'm. These last few recruits will not change the path Oregon is on. Whether they chose to be a part of it is up to them. Be a part of something special or be an also ran.
  21. During the spring game last year, Popo was giving the offensive line fits. I remember the buzz around Popo ratcheting up big. Looking forward to spring to see how the year off and injury affects his play. If he can pick up where he left off, look out. Popo will be a huge factor in the pass rush.
