Never. Worst I've ever watched. What's worse is this is off a BYE

I would say Oregon vs. UCLA in the Rose Bowl when Oregon was down to their 5th string QB.

What I was going to say, before Roper became good in the bowl game.

Oregon’s offensive player of the game = UCLA personal fouls on D.

I sat through that entire debacle.

Ok time to release Mehringer

I never in a million years thought we would have a worse offensive performance than Mario's worst offensive game, but I think this was it.

It was absolutely painful. I had zero confidence that we would be able to get into field goal range after the stop. Everything was out of sync on offense. But it has kinda felt that way all year.

That's my vote too. I was at that game and still cheered for the team when the outcome was obvious. I yelled "Go Ducks, Go Defense" and the crowd around me literally laughed.

It's going to happen, it's just a matter of time now.

I just don't think that he's the problem, I agree he hasn't been good, but Terry has had years to show he can develop his own lineman, and the result is the worst O-line I can ever remember for Oregon. It's atrocious, everything starts with them, they can't run block, they can't pass block, they get confused easily, they haven't shown any development at all.

Last year we had Pregnon (transfer), Harkey (transfer), World (transfer), and while Harkey and World weren't outstanding, they at least were serviceable, Pregnon was a stud. Everyone other than maybe Pancho has been abysmal.

Bring in a great OC and let him build out his own staff.

Would have no problem with that, I don't want anybody to think I'm a fan of Mehringer, I just don't think I have an idea of his talent since the O-line has been such a disaster, hard to call anything when the line isn't making any holes or holding up in pass protect.

I just gotta say one thing:

  1. As bad as we played, and we were HORRIBLE!, we still had a shot at winning this game!

Chesney is good, but he didn't beat us. 6 t/o. We beat ourselves.

So don't everyone give up, just yet.

I love the optimism but we must have been watching different games.

I saw a QB who couldn’t hit the side of a barn. I saw an offensive line that couldn’t block anyone. I saw wide receivers who couldn’t get separation. I saw no creativity from the offensive coordinator until late in the second half. And, finally, I saw a head coach wait too long to make a switch at QB.

What’s sad for me is how far away we’ve gotten from our run game. Year by year since Chip left, it’s gradually gone down hill.

All those highlights we love from 2009-2014? They are great runs from LMJ, Barner, DAT, Mariota, Freeman, etc. We’ve gone from 300 rushing yards per game to lucky if we get 100.

There is one thing our offensive line is good at: They do a really good job of helping our running backs and qb's off the ground after they've been victimized by yet another terribly executed play. Judging only by what my eyes tell me, they appear to be slow, weak, and unmotivated. Not Alique Terry's best resume building year.

Coach Lanning says that the game is won or lost at the line of scrimmage. How in the heck did Oregon end up with this bad of an offensive line?

This game was a lot like the one Jeff Lockie played in. I think it was that bowl game where the Ducks were way up and blew it?

(Just going by memory, so I could be wrong)

That is a pertinent question, Oregon Ducks.

When World was hurt last year and Crader took his place against USC, Crader appeared to be a competent left tackle, that is, a good pass protector but not a road grader in the run game. I assumed he would step in as left tackle this year, but another player was named starter and Crader was put at right tackle. This surprised me, but I was inclined to give Coach Terry the benefit of the doubt based on his track record. I am beginning to wonder whether Coach Terry evaluated his talent accurately.

At some point in the second half, I thought they moved Crader to left tackle and inserted Gernorris Wilson at right tackle. I thought the line play improved, but maybe it was just Brock Thomas's appearance.

At the guard spots, Iuli is a good pass protector but has never been a road grader. They tried a number of players at left guard, including Tofi at one point. I don't know whether Utu is healthy. We miss Pregnon.

Yes. That’s what I was thinking. The TCU game where VA got hurt and Lockie played the second half. The offense couldn’t even snap the ball consistently the rest of that game.

Do the math. There are five O line players and 11 on defense.

This year, it seems that every run play the Ducks run, all 11 defenders are going after the RB.

Not only has the O line players changed, but so has the OC. It is hard as a fan to tell what is the problem: scheme and play calling or the linemen.

I agree with you on World, Harkey, and Pregnon. They were beasts. But as these games go by, I am more and more thinking that the offense is 'stale' and the opposing coaching staff already knows what the plays are.

If you could have brought those three players back for this game, would it have made a difference? I can't really answer that question. But my best guess would be: Oregon would have won, but barely and it would not have looked good.

You are correct. All I was saying was that Chesney isn't the great guru. We don't need to swap coaches. But yeah, something major needs to happen for the offense and I'm finally convinced that maybe it's the OC.

I mean, the defense is the reason we had any chance at all.

And I think everyone out here is Duck Fanville during the offseason verbalized wanting to know when the O-line was going to be reinforced with some experience, or better yet, some talent via the portal. Apparently, the coaches knew something we all didn't.

And here we are. What a massive disappointment in the offense and coaching of our Ducks.

Last year, Lanning could have brought in nearly any QB coach and or OC he wanted. His last two other OCs had both gotten head coaching gigs after only one and two years with the Ducks. So yes, ANY coaches he wanted. We were told to trust the process and Lanning's track record to that point gave him the benefit of the doubt. This feels way to similar to Helfrich's in house DC hire that brought upon his downfall a couple years later.

Also, how can the O line be this bad? I mean THIS BAD! The freaking Beavers offense is looking great. They moved the ball much better against Texas Tech than OBD did against UCLA. How?

Nearly every play the offense makes looks like an epic struggle. Every yard up the middle, every third down conversion, every pass play. Bubble screens to nowhere. No hitting receivers in stride. Every play seems like hoping. Never attacking.

We had two great back to back runs to the outside and were moving the chains. Had the Bruins on there heals. Finally taking control of the game with a nice drive. So what now? Some wildcat trickeration, a fumble and drive over. A successful drive is not the time to get cute. Coaching malpractice.

This offense looks worse than Mario's. The scope of regression by this years offense has been unbelievable.
